You can't even reach a pharmacist anymore. CVS has increasingly become more and more horrible over the years. They only gave their pharmacists a lunch hour a couple years ago. I have changed to a local pharmacy because it's a lot easier a lot less waiting easier to communicate and more reliable. Also no waiting in 45 minutes lines. CVS is horrible not just this store but all their stores. If we don't support these giant corporations treating us like garbage and then either they'll close or they'll change. Go to a local pharmacy instead. read more

This location is easy to locate as it's right next-door to Harris Teeter's. I particularly like this location because the pharmacy is right upfront when you walk in. If you go inside just pay attention to the pharmacy hours as they close for lunch daily and you'll be waiting for quite a while. They have many things advertised on sale upfront and for convenience, they have self check out upfront, which I thought was helpful. The staff was friendly and helpful at this location. read more

Pharmacy staff here is great. Front desk staff great. Great location. BUT, nobody seems to care how filthy the place is. They did a major Reno that finished at least six months ago, including a new pharmacy queue line, the border of which are product shelving. There is barely any product, which is fine, but instead we're treated to absolute filth. See pics. I informed staff. Still gross. I informed the manager. Many weeks ago. Still gross. Like, why should I be grossed out in the pharmacy line? I'm tempted to show up and clean it myself for crying out loud. Ewwwwwww. Have a little pride of place. wow. I'm so done with this place! I had been noticing how dirty and rundown it was for years, including the front entryway -- dirty, windows caked with years of grime, and nothing remotely inviting. How about just putting a plastic plant in the entryway? This store is so out-of-date and so out-of-place I feel like I'm in East Bupkiss, Arkansas. I also question if the store even HAS a manager. If they do, it must be Grandpappy Amos, chewing tobacco in the back room. The good location and the briskness of business, I think, has CVS feeling there's no need to waste money on customers! Not long ago they put down a new carpet (wow!) and enlarged the pharmacy, making it look more organized and modern. The entryway is still dirty, though, the windows not clean, and no plastic plant. The pharmacy. I called in to renew a prescription (yes, it was for a very small amount of a controlled substance) and the robot told me it would be ready that day, Feb. 22nd, at noon. I went to pick it up and the stone-faced person at the window said it was not ready. When I explained that the automated phone system had given me the go-ahead, the person defensively said that the phone-in system didn't always work. Oh! I didn't know that! No further explanation. The "correct" pickup date was Feb. 25, only they wouldn't have it ready until the 26th. This said firmly and with no explanation. Then the cashier (pharmacist?) said loudly and with snooty, judgemental overtones, that "It is a controlled substance you know." I was embarrassed and humiliated, thinking of the long line of people waiting just behind me. Neighbors and acquaintances. I felt like a drug addict. These people need to get off their high horse and quit judging customers out loud! Keep it to yourself, buddy. But I took my 71-year-old white-haired self out of there. And I'm never going back! I had a horrible visit to CVS which has really tainted my view of this Carrboro, North Carolina location. One of the pharmacy employees, Sarah, refused to check out my ONE item at the pharmacy because I was using a coupon despite the fact I was also purchasing pharmaceuticals. She insisted that I had to wait in ANOTHER separate line to buy ONE item. I left that ONE item in the store. All of the staff working there stood by and allowed Sarah to escalate in her negativity. Importantly, CVS coupons are evidence that a person has shopped at CVS in the recent past. That is how you get those particular coupons and they are only good for a few days. Sarah and her compatriots seemingly did not understand that it is that shopping that keeps CVS employees employed. Sarah and the staff working with her were not a good reflection on the CVS Carrboro store or the CVS brand. Their attitude demonstrated a complete lack of regard for customers and the revenue these customers bring to the local location. The corporate office gave lip service to valuing the customer, but I really am not convinced that corporate values customers any more than Sarah does. read more

The service at the CVS Pharmacy in Carrboro, NC was wonderful. I purchased the wrong type of herb which were capsules instead of Gummies. The lady was so helpful and credited my card and assisted me in getting the correct type. I could not have asked for better service. read more

This CVS pharmacy is just dreadful. I would advise you to fill your prescriptions elsewhere. I've tried to fill 4 prescriptions here for my family in the last 3 months and the following have happened: - they have claimed not to receive a prescription which the doctor's office called in. Twice. - they have been late on prescriptions and told us to come back the next day after 12pm. Which is a long time to wait for a much-needed medicine. - they have dispensed drugs in the name of the wrong daughter, causing us to have to pay for them because our insurance wouldn't cover them. - they have dispensed drugs without any meaningful instructions at all. This was only discovered upon arriving home. - they have given us liquid medication for a baby, with the instruction to take 1ml twice daily, and they haven't given us a syringe with which to dispense it. This was also only discovered upon arriving home. Boo, Carrboro CVS, I have relied on your sister stores in several other metropolitan areas. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This CVS feels weird. Yes, it's a chain (Hi Dawn!). But it's probably one of the worst laid-out CVSes I've ever been in. The Pharmacy, checkout, and photo are basically in the same area up front. The pharmacy's in back of the front, the front area is right in front of it, and the photo area is to the right of that. The pharmacy drop off and pickup areas loop the front checkout. What results is utter confusion, as people group over to the left. Now none of this would be an issue if the rest of the store were laid out well. On top of the front area confusion, the aisles are terribly spaced, and lines get kind of ridiculous (this may have more to do with only having one person up front). It's nice that it's 24 hours and all, but considering Harris Teeter's next door, unless you need pharmaceuticals, you're probably better off there. read more

I am giving this place an extra star for one of the employees there. The last two times I was in she went out of her way to not only help me but others. Even coming out from behind the counter herself to go find items. She is an asset to CVS. I wish I could remember her name but in case mgmt reads this she has blonde hair and a really cool nose stud. Also the lady that works in the pharmacy dept. is a stitch too. She makes me laugh every time I'm there. ps-y'all are out of L'oreal Healthy Color hair color in dark chocolate and I will be needing some soon. TIA! read more

I love this store and especially the pharmacy. The staff is very helpful in working with my medications plus my insurance. This is a great pharmacy and drug store. I've been going here for years with no problem. Harris teeter is right next door if you need to do full shopping and weaver street market nearby is a great place to grab a bite and relax. Today, Tyrone helped me find eye drops and was exceptional. He was friendly and guided me to the aisle I needed. My vision is slightly impaired from eye surgery this week and he was observant and conscientious as he assisted me. Thanks, Tyrone! read more

They have a monopoly in Carrboro so they don't really have to improve. Waiting for prescriptions is a complete nightmare. Usually a long line and half the time there's some issue with them getting the prescription prepared. We changed to a different pharmacy and it's totally worth the extra 10 minute drive to Harris Teeter pharmacy. read more

As a longtime customer I can say with confidence: Carrboro CVS you are the devil. The pharmacy is guaranteed to be a long and frustrating experience during which the staff will often treat you rudely. They may/not get your prescription right, and if there is any question of error, they will blame you. Or your doctor's office. Or El Niño. Whatever. I found a locally owned and much better pharmacy nearby, but occasionally I still have to pop in to CVS for something and I always dread it. Save yourself the irritation and avoid. read more

Very nice but very slow, especially the pharmacy. Stories in support of my rating: After receiving two phone messages reminding me that my prescription renewal was ready, I made my way over to pick up the goods. After some confusion during which they told me I hadn't received a call from them and that I wouldn't be due for a refill for another week, we finally agreed that I did in fact need those meds. I was told to wait 15 min. After 10 they called my name and I went up to pay, but was told again I would have to wait while they mixed the face cream (so why exactly was I was waiting the first time around?!). So somewhere on the order of 45 min (and half a dozen magazine later) later my quick stop at CVS had finally ended. Sadly this wasn't a fluke. Another similar experience occurred when I dropped off 2 prescriptions and was told it'd be 15 min. Since I'd forgotten my new insurance card I told them I'd return the next day instead. When I arrive the following day, however, the prescriptions still are not ready for me. Now I know they're not making the pills, so I'm kinda lost as to why everyone coming in seems to get "that will be about 15 mins, if you could just take a seat over there...". And as I'm sitting here now, typing away on my phone, I count 3 people behind the counter chatting away and one looking like he's doing a bit of work. Bottom line: They'll get the job done, but budget extra time (and patience) for your visit. read more

I have never been to a CVS that the staff there is so rude. Really an open-eye experience. Do not recommend. Will go to the one on Franklin Street if I have to go to CVS. The only good thing about the store is the location, right next to a Harris Teeter that sometimes you may not even be able to find fresh tomatos. read more

I have mixed feelings about this CVS. The location is great; parked right between the Carr Mill Mall and Harris Teeter, I can run a great number of errands without having to go very far. However, this CVS is somewhat lacking. The layout feels crowded, the store never looks properly clean and has a somewhat dingy feel to it. The pharmacy is a hot mess. I have had to fill prescriptions at multiple CVS locations across the US, and never have I had a less competent team. The auto-fill system to be opted into has this location call my phone at odd hours of the morning, from 4-8am. After opting out of the auto-fill system, I have to wait in their incredibly long line (I've waited 40 minutes) just to pick up a refill. The line is always at least 10 people long, and they're always upset about something getting messed up. When I get up to refill my prescription it always takes two tries to get my information accurate (which confuses me because I don't have a long or unusual name). That being said, the employees have always been courteous and seem to want to help. I feel like this CVS is just in an unfortunate situation - a small but good location where a lot of product needs to be placed in a crowded area. However, the cleanliness and order could be improved upon, and the pharmacy needs to get its act together a bit better. read more

I've never left a review for anything before in my life. So, this is a first for me. I've just had my final straw moment at this CVS location. I moved here from Boston. So, I'm more or less accustomed to a certain level of rudeness. I've never experienced the sort of rudeness I've experienced from this one little CVS location before, though. From that one time that I was treated like I was trying to trick the pharmacist into giving me a "controlled substance" (as he phrased it) while dropping off a prescription for anti-anxiety medication... for my CAT! Yes, I know that sounds weird, but trust me, there was a short-lived but very good reason that my cat needed these meds... involving nervously grooming herself to the point that she looked like she had just come back from an extended vacation at Chernobyl. I actually had to tell the pharmacist myself that if he wanted additional confirmation (as in, in addition to the signed prescription slip from the vet's office) he could call the vet. I then continued to stand there and wait while he did so (with much exasperated sighing on his part). Come on, man, I shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job. Just for the sake of awareness, acquiring veterinary medication via a pharmacy that caters to humans is a common practice, because, after all, the pharmacist was correct, these are "controlled substances." Where he was incorrect was in his assumption that in seeking meds for my feline, I was secretly seeking meds for myself. I'm not sure how that idea arose in his mind. To that time I went in and got a flu shot... and a different pharmacist injected the vaccine directly into my shoulder joint, causing it to lock up for two days. Okay, so this wasn't rudeness, but it sure wasn't fun either. To today... when I went in to buy a hair product. For whatever reason, this product is one of the only ones I've found that makes my hair look somewhat presentable and doesn't exacerbate an existing scalp condition. The effect on my scalp of other products tends to run the gamut of 'mild discomfort' to 'painful scabs and hideous open sores, and oh my god, are you a Walking Dead extra?' As a result this is pretty much the only hair product I buy, and since a little goes a long way, it's a product which tends to last me for several months. Despite that fact, I always feel a little self conscious buying it because, at just a few dollars shy of 40 bucks (for a large, double-sized bottle), it's not super cheap. But, I always think to myself, "No one is going to say anything. You are not the center of the universe. No one gives a crap what you buy." Well, apparently the individual who checked me out at this CVS today gives a crap, and felt the need to loudly shame me about the amount I was spending on this one item once she was done scanning it and waiting for me to pay. Man, I wish I were one of those super cool people with an immediate pithy response handy. Instead, I'm one of those wrecks who, of course, meekly tried to justify my purchase with a weak smile and a quiet, "Um, a little goes a long way, so it really lasts." So, okay, yeah. I'm done with this particular CVS. It seems that, without so much as voicing a single complaint, I can take being treated as a criminal, getting wounded by an inexpertly wielded needle (why did I keep going back to this place, again?), but I apparently draw the line at public shaming. So, in short, this CVS, not my feel-good-happy-place. read more

Again, just had to reiterate that I have issues EVERY SINGLE TIME at this place unlike any other pharmacy...including pharmacies overseas! It's right by my house so I get lazy and keep going, but i'm about done. Confusion about pick ups, what the dr did or did NOT call in. and if you try calling on the phone to ask a question, they'll just put you on eternal hold. This has happened a few times. I've called and been put on hold and worked while waiting 45 minutes...sorry I do not buy there wasn't anyone who could answer the phone for 45 minutes. Nice people, just completely disorganized. The pharmacists at this cvs are the most caring I have ever seen. Not only do they provide me with quick great service but I overheard one of the staff fighting with an insurance company trying to get medications approved for twins who were sick. Wow was that impressive. Keep it up. read more

Avoid at all costs. This is the slowest pharmacy every, with the worst customer service. After my surgery we stopped by to get my prescriptions. I stayed in the car while my dad went in to get them because I couldn't walk. It took 50 minutes for him to come back with them. They refused to take my insurance and he had to ask to be helped multiple times. It's like they were making the pills on the spot and packaging them because it took SO LONG. If I could give it no stars, I would. read more

The cashier James was not friendly at all. Rude to all the customers in his line. He made remarks like "Oh it's probably not on sale," when system was down for using your rewards card. Also the pharmacy is rude as well. I work for a clinic nearby and I have to call in medications for our patients. I was put on hold for a long time so I went to give the script to the pharmacist and the guy throws the paper down say "I call it in later!" not giving a care in the world and continues to absolutely nothing! Rudest pharmacy I have ever done business with, after receiving medication for my 4 month old who's dose was .7 ml, i returned the next day to ask for a 1ml syringe( you know the type for oral meds, not used w a needle) and a dispensing cap, i was given a look like i was a junkie ( mind you I'm a 30 y/o clean cut dad in a button up and sweater) and was told they don't give out syringes here, i asked why other pharmacies provide them and how they expected me to eyeball .7 ml. he sighed, clearly annoyed by my request, had me verify every single detail on my daughters record and show her insurance card for her before reluctantly giving me the syringe and no cap. I have since taken my business elsewhere. read more

While the idealistic side of me would like to (and occasionally does) send my pharmacy business to a locally-owned drugstore such as Carrboro Family Pharmacy or Sutton's Drug Store on Franklin Street (both are great places), CVS offers a level of convenience not available at either. If I need a bottle of Advil at 3:00am, I know I can go to the 24-hour Carrboro CVS. And while I'm there, I can pick up a snack, toilet paper, a pair of socks, and a bubble mailer. And if I have my Extra Care card, I can earn Extra Bucks which add up pretty quickly and offer significant savings. CVS also has great sales. Check out the current circular and you might find your favorite shampoo for half off. I get two or three prescriptions monthly, all from this CVS. The pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are knowledgeable and accessible. Just the other night, when I was suffering from an annoying case of nasal congestion, one of the pharmacists came out to the OTC area and explained the various remedies available and helped me choose the most appropriate one. I like that I can go to the CVS website to check if I have refills available, request refills online, or transfer a prescription from another pharmacy. My only complaint is that the store is small and a little unorganized sometimes. read more

I'm a retired Pharmacist and I've been going to this Carrboro, NC location for about 3 years now. I've never had any problems with the Management or Staff. They have always been polite , understanding and professional. They take care of their waiting customers much faster than the wait at other Pharmacies, just as I did in my Pharmacy. They exceed all expectations of a large chain pharmacy and I don't mind driving more than 40 minutes, passing many other Pharmacies along the way, to do business at this location. CVS has helpful staff and is at a convenient location. They are open 24hrs, except the pharmacy (found this out the hard way) which is open till 8pm on weekends and 12midnight on weekdays. Some people may like to walk up to the pharmacy at the front of the store, but there isn't much privacy especially if you have questions to discuss with the pharmacist. read more
