I live in NC not CA I have been in charge in picking up other peoples' pharmaceuticals (hereafter "meds") for a great deal longer than I have been picking up my own. I was responsible for: my aunt; a combat officer from Nam; a close friend who had chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for 15 years. [She actually became happy with a diagnosis of cancer- because she finally had a "real" diagnosis]; another close friend, my mother, my son & my ex-wife. I have been in VA Hospital pharmacies, regular Hospital pharmacies, pharmacies in NJ (including the old time Pharmacy in Westfield, NJ where I grew up), the old time pharmacy in Chapel Hill down toward Carrboro (right side of Franklin St) that vanished decades ago, the 24 hour CVS in X Plaza (where I met a woman who never smiled in my sight for 7 years), & the old "dope shop" on Ninth St in Durham. In addition, since I traveled as a wetland delineator, I have been in Rite-Aids, Walgreens, & CVS pharmacies all over NC: including the Manteo CVS (helpful, well stocked) and the Nags Head CVS (not well-stocked, but still helpful) and a dreadful CVS in Jacksonville (who have joined the general incentive there to separate the Marines from their money as quickly as possible). I've been ignored, snapped at, stared at with no comprehension at all, had the legality of my own doctor's prescription questioned ("Where did you get this?"), & overcharged. I have been told "I'm sorry; this is the only manufacturer we have in stock." & "I'm sorry but that medication doesn't exist." & "I'm sorry but Medicaid still hasn't cleared this. Maybe tomorrow they will. Can you come back then?" & "We don't stock that. Can you go to the CVS in X (a town 30 miles away)?" Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza(at 104 NC Hwy 54 Ste J Carrboro, NC 27510, 919.933.7629) has always been reliable, well-stocked, polite, extremely knowledgeable, & helpful with any confusion I had about my meds or their side effects. I've had very few problems with anyone, or any medication, at Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza (from clerks to pharmacists). If I did, they have immediately tried to fix it, and they have either succeeded, or found another road to reach my goal. They accept my goal as their goal. I can easily discuss manufacturers with them (certain generics don't work with me) and they have special ordered more suitable manufacturers for me at no extra charge. They are easy to talk to; have easy access to the pharmacists from the front; you can talk directly to a full pharmacist (not some kind of PA); and you can tell that they care enough to want to deliver top notch professional assistance to you concerning your meds. Not at all like the idiot-staffed BS I have always experienced with the oligopoly that has taken over the entire drug market in North Carolina (Walgreens & CVS). Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plazacombines old-fashioned customer service with swift proficiently using all the 21stcentury tools. Further they have a helpful staff that combines concern, compassion and unfailing politeness with knowledge & real ingenuity in fixing problems that arise. I've been converted. I've been going since they opened. Great staff, they know you, if you are looking around the shelves they are ready to help you. They've called me when they thought I had doubled up on a Rx, they called me when I had a doc call in an Rx and they wanted to be sure I knew how $$$ it was before they filled out - great service. I was very pleased with the pharmacy. I take a prescription that, even though generic and made by several companies, is still quite expensive and I have had no insurance the last couple of months. Unlike pharmacists at CVS or Kroger, this pharmacist took the time to shop round for me and find the very cheapest manufacturer. This saved me about $60 on a single month's prescription. It's a small store, and they don't have the same dizzying range of products you might expect at the CVS next door, but the friendly customer service and their willingness to go the extra mile compensate for that and then some. read more

Although I live in Chatham County, I'm lucky enough to know about CFP and the absolutely amazing service they offer. I've never had a pharmacy go so above and beyond the call of duty to help me stay healthy and safe. It's such a refreshing change of pace to know that your pharmacist takes a genuine interest in their customers' health on such an individual level. Unfortunately, I'm too young to remember the days when local & independent pharmacies were the norm, and CFP makes me realize what I've been missing out on. Before you visit another chain, give Carrboro Family your business. All of the staff here are always so friendly and efficient. They are knowledgeable and have a lot of common sense. In my past experiences with pharmacies I've had to guide them through my insurance and do most of the work myself, but here they seem to take care of everything and do it correctly which is so refreshing. The best pharmacy in town. Fast service, super nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is what every pharmacy should be like. Unfortunately neighborhood pharmacies like this are becoming more and more rare. A shame for us, the customers, who are the ones who really benefit from a pharmacist who knows you and cares about you. We're lucky to have Carrboro Family Pharmacy in our community! The pharmacist took an extra few minutes with me to explain some stuff about the medicine. The staff here are incredibly nice and courteous. Having just moved from the west coast, they made the process of transferring prescriptions incredibly simple and easy. I've only been in twice and feel as though they already know who I am! The first trip there, they didn't have the entire amount of the medication my prescription called for, so someone ran outside to find me and tell me they'd give me what they could now and the rest the next day. I am a long time customer of Carrboro Family Pharmacy. I knowingly accept the limitations of the independent pharmacy because of the staff. I know that a chain pharmacy may give me longer hours but not better service. I am on several medications, with several doctors, so one consistent pharmacy is my choice. In the past I did use one of the chains. When a mistake was made, the chain's answer was "so what". This is not the attitude of Carrboro Family Pharmacy. They go over and above to help you. I do need to plan out when I need to refill my medication, so that I don't run out on the weekend. They are only open half day on Saturday and closed on Sunday. This is my choice, but worth it with the consistent and caring staff. read more

My entire family has switched over to this pharmacy. I very much like the personal service and the time the people who work here take to explain things. I had been a customer of Walmart, Walgreens etc., and then one day for a cold sore I visited this pharmacy. The pharmacist (Ms. Keiko) was so nice and helpful that I had to move my prescriptions to this pharmacy. Since then they have taken care of my medicinal needs like any caring friend would. First let me say reviews are not something I do often, but Carrboro Family Pharmacy is very deserving! I was referred to Carrboro Family Pharmacy by my son's school nurse when I was having difficulty getting my son's medication. The prescription that other local pharmacies often couldn't fill, Carrboro Family Pharmacy sometimes had the medication in stock or was almost always able to get next day. Recently the medication was largely affected by a manufacturer's recall. There was one time when Carrboro Family Pharmacy wasn't able to fill the prescription but they told me right away. Communication and timing are key! At other pharmacies in the past on multiple occasions, I would tell them the difficulty I had experienced getting the prescription filled and when I would go back a few days later to pick the prescription up they would then tell me then that the prescription had not come in. What?! Not acceptable! Carrboro Family Pharmacy not only has great communication but they also have incredible customer service! They consistently go above and beyond! They are not exactly the most convenient in terms of location (I live in Mebane), but they are worth it and will continue to earn my business! read more
