I like knowing I can run into a store and find what I need quickly. The store is clean and organized. HT has lot of folks waiting to help you find what you need. The personnel at the Harris Teeter are truly caring and professional people. On the afternoon of Friday, August 29, 2025, I collapsed while shopping there. One of the young women working there noticed that I was having trouble and she and another woman working there caught me as I fell, preventing me from hitting my head. When I came to, they were cushioning my head, the security guard had called the EMTs and they had some cold water ready in case I needed it. They were very professional and kind. I am mostly recovered now and I am sure that their attention kept me from injuring myself. I will be forever grateful to them. read more

Three weeks ago we hatched a plot to surprise the dean of our program for her birthday... and Harris Teeter became a great accomplish. Some of the most unique experiences are found in the most mundane of places. Little did I know my 101th review would be for Harris Teeter. I reached out to have a cake made, not expecting much. I gave very little instruction other than "Can you make it accounting-y?" Danielle from Harris Teeter said she had me covered and that she would have it done in about a week and a few days. But, alas, things took a turn for the worse. Due to complications, we had to move the surprise up several days. I frantically messaged Danielle from Harris Teeter afraid she could not get it done in only 2 business days. She quickly calmed my fears and said even though she was busy, she could move it up and get it done for me. Well, I cannot begin to describe how amazingly pleased I was when I picked up the cake. She had gone above and beyond ANY expectation I had and constructed a CAROLINA BLUE (and white) CALCULATOR OUT OF A CAKE. I appreciate a lot of things about this Harris Teeter. First and foremost, it's a 24-hour establishment, perfect for nearby UNC students and Chapel Hill/Carrboro residents to pick up the stuff that I need. Second, they've got everything you could possibly need in a supermarket: food, utility-related shenanigans, beer/wine, magazines, you know, stuff! Beyond that, it's your standard supermarket. It's always a toss up between here and Food Lion since I live in Carrboro and I come here to buy my organics that FL doesn't have as well as refrigerated coconut milk. But I definitely pay through the nose here. i compared food bills for similar items on several shopping trips and I paid about $100 more at HTs. It is also generally so crowded I'm always having to "excuse me" all the way through the store. The checkers are definitely nicer here though but I can't pay a premium for that and I like that I don't have to unload my groceries or put them in the cart like I do at FL. The store is a bit cheerier than Food Lion which feels like the store that time forgot. The manager is always standing around and not generally helpful. I had to make a case for him ordering more Coconut milk because they kept running out and losing sales because we probably go through 4-5 cartons a week. I actually like Harry T's but this store is nothing compared to the one by University Mall which is also cheaper. Carrboro charges more because they can. Probably the best thing it has going for it, is its proximity to Weaver Street Market. read more

Harris Teeter's convenience and friendliness make it my go-to grocery store in Chapel Hill. Make sure you get yourself a VIC card to take advantage of incredible weekly (new every Wednesday) and long-term specials. You can also sign up for an e-VIC account for even more coupons and weekly $ off. Though I'm admittedly a grocery store geek, I love spending time in the Carborro Harris Teeter. Pick up a cookie sample, go in for $3/dozen Krispy Kreme donuts late night, and definitely appreciate the "if it rings up wrong, it's free (just ask)" policy. Be sure to give the full-timers a smile--they're all extremely friendly. My one gripe is that only occasionally, an item I'm looking for will not be stocked. Specialty items might not be found there all the time, but just pop over to Weaver St. Market right next door to take care of whatever other needs you have. read more

This Harris Teeter refuses to accept manufacture coupons for BOGO and B2G3 free sale items. The manager says that since the item is on sale, it's just the same as using a coupon, so they can't let you use coupons for BOGO sale items. Every other Harris Teeter that I have been to WILL accept coupons for BOGO and B2G3 sale items. So if you have coupons, go to another store. read more

This is probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I bought some groceries, and I usually check my receipt after I pay to make sure that everything was priced correctly and nothing was scanned twice. So I noticed that I was charged more for the poultry than what the price tag had displayed. Then I proceeded to ask a cashier for help so I could get the difference refunded. That's when everything went south. First, the cashier did not even know how to calculate the difference and was adamant that she was doing it correctly, and I had to explain to her exactly how to do it multiple times until she finally got it. Second, even after she got the right price, she did not know how to work the computer to compute the price difference with tax. Thirty minutes later, she still did not know how to ring it up on the computer, so she asked me to leave and just come back tomorrow at 7 AM so they can get customer service to refund it since she didn't know how to. All the while, she was speaking in a really rude tone and her coworker was standing behind her rolling his eyes. Customer service was really at an all time low at this HT, even though the cashier told me she was a manager for the customer service department and told me how she was trained in customer service. However, this customer was definitely not satisfied with her "customer service." As future advice, please don't tell customers that you know what good customer service is and proceed to speak rudely with an annoyed face. Trust me, the customer is just as annoyed at you as you are at the customer, especially when you try to tell them to come back after wasting gas money to get a refunded difference of what you should've been guaranteed. read more

This is my favorite grocery store in Carrboro. They're a tad pricy, but the quality of vegetables, meat, etc far exceeds other grocery stores. Their sushi is great, they have a very nice salad bar, and have decent sales. Also, the employees are extremely friendly each time I visit. I've seen this store get insanely busy, so I go earlier (8am-9am) and it's been a great experience each time! read more

This had been my go to store rather than dealing with the crunchy scene at Weaver Street. However, since Kroger took over I find that the store is not stocked well. Basic staples seems to be out. Not sure if that is poor food ordering or lack of attention for this store. I am sure if I went to the Harris Teeter at Chapel Hill North or Meadowmont there might be more in supply because of the zip code. read more

This is the Harris Teeter I used to go to as a UNC student to buy kegs. So for that reason it's awesome! Since it's located in Carrboro, it's one of the most convenient for students and has all the standard necessities. A bit pricey like all Teeter's but great place to buy beer! read more

I shop here often as I live in Carrboro & it is convenient. Not as large as some of the other stores, but they have most of the things I need. Today everyone seemed extra friendly. Greeting me & being helpful. It took away some of the anxiety of shopping during a health crisis. My one concern was a young man in a red shirt with a black ball cap. He was kneeling in front of the deli counter & looking at the merchandise & entering something into a handheld device. I assumed he was an employee. He had a black face mask loosely covering his mouth & not at all covering his nose. All the other employees that I saw were totally masked. I went to customer service & complained & pointed him out. A nice lady said she would talk to him & said he was a Boars Head employee. I like this store & the employees are very helpful. Vendors servicing the store should follow the health policies in place. read more

Very good grocery store, my kids race to the cake samples and cookie samples every time we go. But lately the staff hasn't been so great. Last time I went was in the early afternoon and three cash registers were open. To make matters worse, I saw some cashiers in the magazine aisle, sitting on the floor chatting and gossiping about celebrities and people they knew. Not only could I not get thorough the aisle but I also couldn't bear to hear the things they were saying....."I know she is so ugly, like how does she even have a boyfriend? So stupid." I was so hurt that they'd talk about someone like that. read more
