the pharmacy manager called to apologize... i really do appreciate the gesture. he was very persistent to get in touch and even left his personal cell phone number. when we finally did connect, i felt he was too busy trying to convince me that "this one time incident was unfortunate but certainly not a reflection of our work here." ok... i'll buy that but it really didn't seem like he wanted to know what actually happened so that he could rectify. i finally talked over him to spit out my side of the story. he was gracious but i just hope he was able to gather all the details that i had offered in order to make a true assessment. read more

This is one of the nicest 24 hour places I shop at. Even at 4 am they are ready to help you and are friendly. Believe me I've been there a few times at that hour. They also have a large liquor section which is helful sine the jewel across the strret is not 24 hrs. read more

I love this CVS - it's clean, open and has plenty of merchandise. Also, the Minute-Clinic was my savior when I first moved to Chicago and couldn't get in to see a doctor without waiting two months. I would have been dead had I even waited two days. For being in the City, the parking lot is spacious. My only complaint is that sometimes the check-out lines can be a little long. read more

You can't really ask for more from a drugstore. They are open 24 hours. They have good prices and loads of coupons. The staff are fast, courteous, and friendly. The fourth star is just because they filled a request for Plan B at the drug counter with absolutely no fuss. read more

I really don't expect much from a drugstore but this one suuuucks. First, I wanted a passport photo taken...after five minutes of picture taking, the photo lab supervisor could not figure out how to upload the pictures and recommended I just take them at home. Then upon checking out I had to use the self checkouts...2 machines froze on me and would not complete the transaction. The staff was totally not helpful and just looked at me and shrugged. I went in to receive two vaccines for school. I have out of state insurance that does not apply in Illinois, however the pharmacist gave me a generous discount on both vaccines. I had to wait around 25 minutes, however the staff was so warm and professional. Best of all, the shots were quick and painless. Was NOT expecting this kind of care from a Minute Clinic, but I was pleasantly surprised. read more

The store itself is fine, but the pharmacy is terrible. I will say that there is ONE guy who knows what he's doing - he's very friendly and smart. Aside from that, the staff is extremely rude, slow and unhelpful. I have had multiple instances where I received bad customer service from them (they're completely unhelpful with prior authorizations...fortunately I work in healthcare and was able to take care of this myself). I kept going because it was the closest pharmacy to my house until a few months ago when they gave me the wrong pills... I take a medication where I'm supposed to take two 50mg pills a day. I refilled this prescription one day and when I got home I noticed the pills were a different color and smaller. My initial thought was that they had changed generic manufacturers, but I used a pill identifier online to be safe. It turns out that they were 25mg pills. The label on my bottle was marked at 50mg tablets. And the pill quantity was the same (it wasn't like they gave me double the quantity to make up for the mg deficiency). That's right...they gave me the wrong prescription dosage! Fortunately, I caught the error and this mistake would not have put my health at risk. But what if someone didn't catch the error? What if half of the dosage of a medication put someone's health at major risk? Nothing about prescription medication errors is okay. I will never go back there as this error was extremely risky. When I took my medication back to the pharmacy, the one good person who works there was present. He was extremely apologetic and concerned. I appreciate that from him and would trust him to refill my medications, but I won't go back due to the rest of the staff. I have since transferred my prescriptions to a less convenient but fully competent Walgreens. read more

My biggest issue is that the pharmacist always loudly announces the name of my prescription so that anyone in a 2 aisle radius can hear it. Listen dude, I'm not embarrassed to be picking up my BC (I'm a big kid and all) but seriously, it's called patient privacy laws, dumbass. For a CVS, this is a good one. The pharmacist caught a potentially serious drug interaction and spoke to my doctor and straightened it out before I even knew something was wrong. Prices are average. The staff is really indifferent at times, but for the most part, they know what they're doing. Due to that pharmacist though, it's my CVS of choice. read more

I am so disappointed that every time I have a prescription filled this pharmacy never has it in stock, then I have to go back the next day. I dropped off a prescription which they didn't have in stock, went back the next day and the pharmacist forgot to order it. I had to go back again the next day. I went to the minute clinic for an issue with a painful sty on my eye and when I was FINALLY seen, it was quick and curt. I had an issue with my prescription and misplaced it/accidentally threw it out and called less than 3 hours later for my Walgreens to make a request to the FNP who saw me to do a reorder. I never heard back and she never contacted my Walgreens. Luckily my sty went away by itself but the process could have been sped up with the ointment. The FNP wasn't too friendly so it doesn't really surprise me. I do not recommend. read more

I like this CVS. Especially compared to other CVS's in the area where the salespeople and MANAGERS are RUDE -- like Banana Republic rude. Anyway, this CVS is huge, it's always the right temperature (comfortable place to shop), lots of different seasonal merch and toys/fun things, never enough of the usual things like bars of soap or cards, but yeah, for fun and alcohol, it's a great "I'm bored, I think I'll stop into the CVS" kinda place. Lines are always long, but I feel like they move faster than a lot of other places. Many of their cashiers seem pissed at the world, but while they're not super-friendly, they're not outright rude, either. read more

I was recently diagnosed with a sinus/ear/throat infection, and had to use this pharmacy for my prescriptions, as Walgreens no longer accepts my insurance. The first medication I was prescribed was a standard antibiotic. I waited on line at the pharmacy for 45 minutes, but it was in stock and eventually I left with it. My doctor prescribed me another, stronger antibiotic four days ago because the first one did not cure the infection. This is another standard antibiotic. I dropped off the Rx four days ago, with two other medications. I am still waiting for the prescriptions to be "ordered", because when I dropped them off four days ago, the pharmacy failed to order them before the cut-off time. The next day, they were forgotten again. I received a call today that I will be waiting one, possibly two, more days. I asked them to call my doctor's office to possibly have another antibiotic prescribed, but they refused, telling me I was responsible for that. I am now unable to swallow, can barely talk, and have gone without medication I very much need, because the service and level of urgency at this pharmacy is extremely poor. All the while, this infection is getting worse and worse. I might be hospitalized if I continue to go without my medication, and it will be the fault of this pharmacy. If you have a choice in pharmacies, DO NOT choose this one. The staff is only polite enough to get by, they forget to order medications, often do not have them in stock, and offer almost no level of service useful to their customers. read more

Worst pharmacy ever! They can't figure out insurance, I've had to go back multiple times for a prescription I've been getting for years and they are so slow! To top it off, yesterday I stopped in at 5pm to pick up prescriptions for eye surgery that were called in during the day, they did not have them. I call at 8:30am the next day and they are all filled. What?!? So now I have to go back again. I cannot stand constantly having my time wasted. read more

Signage is not helpful for finding items, and certain items are randomly placed throughout the store. There are also multiple areas that have the same type of product, but different brands than the other area. The staff was very inattentive and didn't know the store well. And their prices! One of the pharmacists here is never helpful. I had been paying full price for a prescription for 2 months because of an issue with my insurance and when I found out what I need to do I was so annoyed that every time I asked this pharmasict( I always get the same girl) she said she couldn't help me and gave me zero information. Not to mention everytime I see her she seems like she hates her life.If you hate your job, fine, but thats not my fault. This is by far one of the worst pharmacies that I have ever been to in my entire life. The staff is not knowledgeable and often times very rude. There have been multiple occasions that they are out medicines I need. There have been times when I have left a prescription there waiting for it to be filled, only to be told that it has been altered and they can no longer fill it. One time was called to pick up an RX I rushed to the store and the pharmacy was supposed to be open for 5 more minutes, but the pharmacy manager was closing up shop and said I was too late and had to come back tomorrow. I only go to this place as a last resort because it is close to my house. I would strongly recommend going to a different pharmacy if at all possible. read more

I've had nothing but an outstanding relationship with the pharmacy and staff here - led by one of the most knowledgeable, professional, pleasant pharmacists I've ever worked with, and equipped with a team that is - to a person - extremely kind, pleasant, helpful. I can't speak for some of the lesser reviews, but I honestly admit I was flatly surprised by them, because my long experience (several years, now) truly has been among the most gratifying in the chain of my medical care than I can attest to. It is very definitely my only pharmacy; in a care complex involving debilitating pain and associated disability, these people are - along with my rheumotologist/pain management specialist - the two bright stars in my medical firmament, with no hyperbole intended. Hey, so far so good. This place isn't so big that you get lost or frustrated; in fact it probably has less sq. footage than others in the Chicago area. They have a vast selection in pacakged goods and even alcohol. It's like a mini Jewel in there! The Pharmacy was prompt in opening up at 9am on Saturday. The male pharmacist was polite..and kinda cute. Does he have a girlfriend? Haha No but seriously, I like this one! Not personable at all, looked like we were bothering him, and did not even ask if we had a cvs card. I was really disappointed. I cannot wait till the new jewel osco gets built across the street. Horrible. Terrible customer service and long waits. After several years, I can no longer deal with this CVS. In the past I have had problems with them taking a long time to fill prescriptions, but my last experience takes the cake. My doctor called in a prescription three days ago. They told me their supplies were low, so they could only give me 3 (out of 90) pills, but that they would be able to give me the rest in three days. Although the remaining 87 pills were supposed to be ready for pick up by 1:15 today, I got a call around 4:00 from the CVS pharmacy that they did not have my medicine, and could only give me 3 more pills. Unfortunately, I was going out of town and needed 7 pills to last through my trip. After being placed on hold for several minutes I was told that they would give me a one week supply of medicine. When we went to go pick up the medicine they told us that they could not fill the prescription at all. It took 30 minutes and an argument for them to give me the 7 pills they promised... not to mention they would not tell me when they would have more for me. The medicine I needed is very common and not anywhere close to obscure, so it is ridiculous that this could happen. I called the Jewel Osco pharmacy across the street and even they were apologetic for the horrible behavior of CVS. Now I have to fight with CVS to transfer my prescription to the Jewel, so I can get my meds. As of now, CVS has refused to transfer my prescription. RIDICULOUS. read more

Watch out. They make mistakes! I have had two problems with this pharmacy recently. The first one-the pharmacist, after putting my prescription into the system wrong so my insurance wouldn't accept it, told me she was sorry "we make mistakes all the time". Yikes! So not ok. The second one-when I got my prescription of an antibiotic home it only had 29 pills instead the 30 that was prescribed. I will be looking for another pharmacy. read more

It would have been less painful had the younger dark-haired girl working the pharmacy counter hadn't giggled. Am very upset at the lack of courtesy and professionalism. The manager at the Pharmacy was rude to my doctor who tried to call me in an Rx for an eye antibiotic on a Saturday after her regular office hours. It was a major inconvenience and resulted in me having to wait 3 full days without medication for pink eye while I got it sorted out at another pharmacy during regular business hours. When I went in to complain they stated it is their right to not fill Rx if they don't want to. If that's true then it should be everyone's right to know not to ever use this Pharmacy. read more

Honestly, why does this place exist right there anymore? With the Jewel across the street, this CVS is completely redundant, Jewel has a pharmacy too. It is hands down the ugliest building on Southport, the inside is depressing relic of the decade this building came from (1960s/70s?/sometime BC?), and the prices are routinely higher than the same products across the street at the Jewel. Now, they no longer accept cash or give cash back on the self-service machines. This place sucks. The building should be torn down and a couple of restaurants be placed there instead. A good Mexican restaurant would be a nice start. read more

I'm writing this review for the Minute Clinic. I found myself with a minor health crisis and my regular doctor was closed all weekend. The nurse who saw me was attentive, friendly, and took care of me right away...everything I could possibly want. The best part? The personalized card I received in the mail no more than 5 days later.
