We have been using Braun Pharma Care for five years ! They were in a previous location on Clark street when we started utilizing this pharmacy! We use it to compound our family cats medicine ! They make his medicine in flavors that he likes and will take his medicine safely without us worrying if it's in! A Chicago specialized vey told us about it! We pick his meds or have them shipped! I could get his meds elsewhere but they have the best price and his care in mind ! I trust this pharmacy! They are taking Covid precautions at this time with curb side pick up! My issue with Braun is the guy you talk to sounds like an 18 year old with an I DON'T CARE TO BE HERE monotone voice that sounds robotic. The mumbling sounds that come from him make it seem like the pharmacy is bored and passive. My second complaint is when on IVF you need constant progesterone and I expected them to prompt me to refill the third and fourth vials. Now I have to call and refill etc. it adds more stress to the situation. My third complaint is they sent progesterone vials with tin caps that had zero instructions on how to open them and we ended up sticking the needle through the tin cap. Also there was no needle container to dispose the used needles. The other pharmacy did supply this. Just be more informative and get employees who want to be there to assist your customers---bottom line. read more

As one of the few animal medication pharmacies around, this has become my go-to place for my cat's medication. The staff here is very friendly and always greet me by name and have my cat's meds ready for me. Calling in refills here has always been easy, and if I forget the Rx number for it, I'm always quickly found on the system. While they do offer a delivery service, I will go in and pick up in person, and the medication is always ready on time. My only issue here has more to do with the lack of easily available street parking than with anything with Braun. While there is a 15 minute loading zone out front, expect it to be taken by someone sitting down for a coffee at the Starbucks across the street (you don't leave a coffee shop empty handed and go back to your car if you were there just to get a cup to go). read more

They jumped out of the veterinary business with no warning to customers. NONE. I tried to refill a prescription when I had 8 pills left and they transferred the prescription to an out of state provider. I have one pill left and that's only because I didn't give today's dose. I'm updating my rating to apply to the new location on Clybourn, since they just now thanked me for a review I left 10 years ago...likely to help counter all the terrible reviews they've received recently. I lived across the street from this pharmacy for 12 YEARS and was a happy customer. Like other reviews, Sharon was my main point of contact and she was/is fantastic...always friendly and interested in how I was doing and friendly to my yorkie. I actually looked forward to going to Braun b/c of Sharon. Due to Covid, I have not seen Sharon b/c they meet you at the door (with it barely open, treating you like you're doing a drug deal when you pick up your scrip.) The first (and last) time I went to the new location was for my dog, Henry. My Vet called in the meds that morning and when I arrived that afternoon they told me they no longer do vet meds. Nothing else. Door shut. Walked away. (My vet called it into another pharmacy in WI and I am happy with them, but I am so disappointed in Braun.) They were so rude to me, I was shocked. I even tried to speak to Sharon but they closed the door in my face. They don't value their customer relationships, they are no longer friendly, and they'll no longer get my business. The only way I would ever give Braun another chance is if I could work exclusively with Sharon, and that's not likely because she can't do multiple jobs at once...although I now realize she was doing two jobs for years. They should double her pay, make her a partner, and beg her to be the face of the company b/c they won't survive without her! read more

The service is not exactly friendly and they have consistently acted "put out" basically by questions or by doing their job. I am sure you have experienced walking into a place and getting the feeling that everyone who works there is miserable to be there. That's the way it feels to walk in Braun PharmaCare. If you call, be prepared to be on hold for awhile. In addition, it's impossible to park since the street parking (which you have to pay for) is NEVER available and traffic is horrible. Avoid going here so you don't have to deal with the miserable & rude people who work here. It was worth taking the time to find a different pharmacy that has what I need. Walgreens on Huron has all of the fertility medications I needed (Injectable & other) and they are friendly. They will help you get approved through your insurance or find discounts and coupons (if available) for your IVF medications. They send you a text message when ready and include the prices for each medication after insurance is added in. read more

I am going through Ivf in Michigan. They send my medication over when I try to set up an appointment to go through the medication and get instructions I got the first meeting canceled an hour before my meeting started the second time I got a email that they confirm my appointment an hour before it started and I've waited for 40 minutes in the meeting called emailed never received anything no contact back no apology worst service ever. ***in response to the business' reply- syringes were DEFINITELY NOT included on the outside of the thermal pouch with the medication. Three different adults tore that package inside out looking for them. I also took it to my dr's office to make sure. CCRM sent a prescription for microdose Lupron to Braun, and a million other drugs to several other "mail-order" pharmacies. I received phone calls from EVERY other pharmacy to let me know when my prescription was ready and to ask when I needed it by. IVF requires many meds that I didn't see that I was missing one until two days prior. I called the pharmacy at 7am yesterday to ask if they could overnight it to arrive early today. FedEx tracking said that it was shipped out in the afternoon and arrived around 6pm causing me to miss my first dose. The medication is supposed to be administered in tiny insulin needles, none were included. After anxiously waiting to rush and give this "as soon as it gets there" all day- I had to use an old dog medication syringe to measure this drug and then awkwardly transfer it into a 3ml. I have never been so frustrated and disappointed in the lack of professionalism in a pharmacy. With IVF every dose of each medication is so important that missing the dose this morning and thinking of the impact it will have is very upsetting. read more

I've had several neutral interactions with this business and one egregious one. Due to several other fires going on in my life, I realized I needed a compound for my pet the same day. I take responsibility for that. The response I got from the vet was go eat cake, too many prescriptions ahead of mine. I get it, they don't have the bandwidth. However, this is life saving medication. I don't get it, straight to the ER. When I asked for alternatives I got a verbal shrug. Luckily, by reading the other reviews here I came across Save-Rite (I did not see them when using my Google-Fu for pet pharmacies). They were able to fill my prescription in two hours. If this didn't involve a life, I wouldn't expect to get a referral to another business. However, in this instance, it's heartless and cruel to not let me know there are other options. read more

I love Braun! I use them for my cat's medications and I really appreciate all the different ways they can compound medications (into liquid, treats, etc.) which helps me better administer the meds to my cat. (If you've ever tried to give a pill to a cat, you know how meaningful this is!) It's also very quick and easy to refill the medications and they can send them to you for a small shipping fee. The refills are typically ready by the end of the next business day which is nice if you are a procrastinator like me and forget to refill until you run out. The staff is really nice. I've used this pharmacy dozens of times and I'm always very pleased with my experience. read more

This is a little neighborhood corner drug store that has been around for generations, and does not appear to have changed it's practice with time. Sweet! Although they've moved from Lincoln Avenue to Clark Street, they've still retained that small business, high level quality of service. When my dog was diagnosed with 20% kidney function, the vet told us that he would need to be on medication for life. He called all the prescriptions into Braun, so it is with unfortunate circumstance that I began patronizing them. Now, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Everyone that works there is very personable. The pharmacists are extremely knowledgable about everything we need for Nessums, and are always available for consulting or suggestions. They fill scripts very quickly and shipping is available. Brett in particular has been SO helpful -- that guy RULES. I am thinking that maybe he should run for president. Anyway, if you live in Lincoln Park, you should be going there now. If you have a sick pet, you should be going there now. If you have a fondness for good old-fashioned service, and still believe that small business is the cornerstone of the American economy, YOU SHOULD BE GOING THERE NOW. read more

I could not decide between 1 or 2 stars but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have been using this pharmacy for around 2 years. I only use them for pet medications, and I only use them because my vet states that they are the only pharmacist in the city that I can use. On the positive, I appreciate that they can formulate my cat's medications into the transdermal form. On the negatives- The customer service seems fairly bad. I have tried to have my medications delivered in the past, but the delivery has always been messed up. So I have had to drive across town to pick up the meds. I have also called in advance several times to make sure that they are preparing the meds only to have someone call back several hours later to double and sometimes triple check to see if the meds are needed. These call backs have delayed the medications being prepared and my picking them up at the difficult location. These call backs were made after I had already called to assure the pharmacy that I would pick them up. I have never ordered medications which I have not picked up. In addition to the issues with delivery and preparation, I have almost always been frustrated with calling the pharmacy. Im almost always transferred to another line and find that often people do not pick up- this results in me having to call back again. The staff has also been rude over the phone on occasion. Given that these medications are expensive, I would expect improved customer service from this pharmacy. If I had better options for getting my cat's medication, I would go with the other option. I have been hoping each time that they would improve, but alas, things have stayed the same. read more

When my vet said I could get medication for my kitty here instead of having to trek over to her office, I jumped at the chance. I was hoping to have a good experience here so I could transfer my prescriptions from Walgreens and support a local business. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. When I walked in, the guy behind the counter was complaining about another customer to the woman working there (who I assume was the pharmacist) while I waited at the counter. Nice. During the whole transaction, he just wasn't very professional or friendly, and I left feeling very annoyed with the whole thing. I will say that when the pharmacist had called me earlier in the day to confirm the prescription, she was very nice. But the person working the register is the face of your business - and if they're going to openly complain about your customers and have a crappy demeanor, then that's the perception customers will get. read more

This pharmacy is a real joke. I got a prescription for a flavored medicine few weeks ago. It was Friday and they told me it'll be ready on Monday. On Monday I called to check and the woman who answered the phone was cold and ignorant. She told me that they don't have the medicine in stock and they ordered it but they don't know if the retailer has is too so they don't know when I will have the medicine ready for my kittens. Seriously?! I had to cancel the order and got it from a different pharmacy on the next day. Now my vet sent to them another prescription. It was ready the next day but for some reason they dissolve the medicine in almond oil. My kittens freaked out and spit it out. I had to call and talk to them and they prepared a new medicine dissolved in water and they gave it to me for free as a courtesy. I clearly asked few times if the medicine is flavored and they guaranteed that it is. Well, my kittens freaked out when I gave it to them and one of them spit out half of the medicine. They have been on different medications for the past two months and they have never acted like this except when I gave them unflavored medicine once. I don't believe that Braun Pharma Care really flavored this medicine. They either forgot to do it or they put so little flavoring that the kittens still feel the real taste of the medicine. One month ago I had to give the same medicine to my kittens and it came tuna flavored directly from the vet. When I opened the bottle to fill the syringe I could smell the tuna. This medicine doesn't smell at all and for that reason I am pretty sure that it is not flavored at all. They just sell it as a flavored because your cat can't talk to tell you that it's not. My kitten really needs that medicine but he is not getting the prescribed amount due to the bad taste and spitting it out. This place is a joke and a total waste of time. Just save yourself the time and go to a different pharmacy who really flavors the medicines. read more

While going through ivf there are already so many stressors in place, however, this journey will throw so many curveballs. So my speciality pharmacy was supposed to send my medication to me and failed to ship it. I was in an extreme bind as I needed a compound medication that I was supposed to start that night. Angela and Victoria were so understanding and helpful. I was at the pharmacy for 3 hours talking with my clinic and my speciality pharmacy. I cried in the lobby because I was so stressed by having to pay out of pocket for medications that would have been way cheaper going through my insurance. Luckily, I was about to pay and my pharmacy called me. Angela was so sweet and didn't rush me.. she allowed me to take the call. By being so understanding and working with my pharmacy, Angela and Victoria helped me get all of my meds so I can start my ivf cycle on time. AND THEY WERE QUICK TO SPEAK WITH MY SPECIALITY PHARMACY AND CLINIC. I appreciate these ladies so much and can't thank them enough for their patience and kindness. read more

We've been using braun for our dog's medicine for 6 months. It has to be filled here because it is a special preperation. I've never been more disappointed in a business. They say they fax my vet for refill requests and I verify this with my vet and it is a lie. I've started to give them plenty of notice and they still can't get it together. They forgot to send it out for delivery once and because my dog can't miss any doses, I was forced to pay an extra $25. FOR THEIR MISTAKE. the salespeople are rude and have actually hung up on me. I'm at a loss because it's the only pharmacy we can use. Do not give them your business. If you're looking for a regular pharmacy, go somewhere else. This place is for people who need something special because they are going through something special. I've been a loyal Braun customer since 2003 (starting when they were still at their old location). I have nothing but praise for them. For first-time customers, it's important to understand what Braun is and what Braun isn't. It's a specialty pharmacy that focuses on a few specific niches: Veterinary drugs, compounding drugs and fertility drugs. While they will fill other prescriptions professionally and promptly, the specialty stuff is their bread and butter. What Braun isn't? Another Walgreens or CVS. Their OTC product selection is limited, as is their total inventory. You might find exactly what you're looking, but there's a good chance you won't. If you live next door, I'm sure it would be your first stop if you needed some aspirin or bandages, but you probably wouldn't go out of your way to shop at Braun for those items. That's fine with me! I can go to Walgreens for those things. But I go out of my way to go to Braun for specialty prescriptions. When you call to refill a prescription, you'll talk to a human. They'll call you back if there's a delay in filling your prescription. They'll call you once it's ready. They'll call your doctor if there are any delays. This is a place staffed by humans, not robotic phone systems. I go in there a few times a year to pick up a couple prescriptions. Brett & the rest of the staff are always friendly, recognize me & know my name, ask me how my pets are doing, and get me in and out of the store within a few minutes. (There's a loading zone conveniently placed out front.) I have no complaints, and highly recommend Braun to anyone who needs compounding, veterinary drugs or fertility drugs. Also, FWIW: I personally take a drug that had nationwide shortages a couple years ago. Walgreens, CVS and Costco all ran out of it and couldn't fill my prescription. I called Braun, and even though it didn't fall into their normal specialty niches, they managed to keep it in supply so I never went without/had to contemplate switching meds. read more

This is for their pet medication compounding service - I would assume the rest of their services are equally terrible. I can only assume the consistently inconsistent service that never improves is because they're one of the only compounding pharmacies in the area - so they don't need to get better. Almost every single interaction with them is a struggle. You're told to refill RX certain # of days in advance in order to be ready for a specific day - still not ready. They call you and tell you it's ready by a specific time - it's not ready (like next day at the earliest not ready). They don't let customers know that they're no longer open on weekends (covid) when they call to let you know RX is ready. So you go and surprise - they're closed. I thought I would avoid all of the numerous issues by paying for them to ship the medications instead. I even called the medication in 1 week in advance to be sure I would have them time (they have a 2 day turnaround). But nope. They did manage to get my first shipment to the correct address (you have to manually add addresses online each time you order), but instead on the second shipment they defaulted to an old address in their system. Not what I had entered online for the order. When it's a life supporting medication (which it is for my cat) - these types of continuous and at this point expected failures are unacceptable. But again - they're the only game in town. I hate to say this, but luckily my cat doesn't have that much more time left, so I won't have to deal with Braun much longer. read more

Call ahead and ask before having your vet forward your prescription if you desire only one thing you have to shoot down your cats throat. My partner and I are going through IVF. With all the changing parts that come with this journey, it can be very stressful, but working with Braun was the least stressful part because of the exceptional work they've done! I was filling my medications at a different specialty pharmacy, but once I started having to pay out of pocket, the other pharmacy was not helpful in seeking more cost-effective options for me. I reached out to Braun and was helped by Sharon. She not only helped me find cheaper alternatives to medications, but she also provided me with assistance programs to fill out to obtain additional discounts. Sharon also made sure I received my medications on time with all of the necessary materials needed for each injection. I highly recommend to any women going through IVF to get their medications with Braun (and ask for Sharon)! I use Braun to get some of my IVF medications and working with them has been a slice of heaven (as heavenly as IVF can be). I cannot say enough good things about my experiences with Braun. For one thing the people that work here are AMAZING. I've dealt with a male pharmacist (Danny) and a female (Anne) Danny was actually my hero a year ago when my doctor wanted me on HGH for IVF but my nurse wouldn't call my RX in. It took me emailing her and Danny calling her for almost 2 full weeks to get her to actually call in my script. The fact that the pharmacist advocated for me and got me my RX was such a comfort for me as anyone that's been through IVF knows the stress in a cycle is horrendous- so to have someone on my side telling me not to worry he will get it taken care of was a God Send. And he didn't lie- he finally got my nurse to get the script called in for me. Anne has also been an angel. Once I got the HGH I had major issues with the medication shooting out of the syringe (no one tells you that stuff fizzes like alka seltzer). I had a complete FREAK OUT and called the pharmacy bright and early to find out what do I do?! Anne was AMAZING. She not only consulted with another pharmacist to make sure they were on the same page, but she gave me very specific instructions to help me out. Another time with HGH (this stuff is the devil to work with, I swear) I got home with my medication and put the bag on my kitchen table and one of the vials broke when it hit the table. I about CRIED. LUCKILY it was the saline vial not the actual HGH vial (which is about $1,000 a pop). I called Braun and Anne told me to come on in and she'd replace the saline vial for me- which she did. Another time I came in and needed help with a different injection. Anne is fantastic about doing a run through with you and showing you exactly how to mix, measure and inject different medications. I'd also like to mention that their turn-around time is insane. Even compounded medications have a fast turn-around time. One time a nurse forgot to call in Lupron for my trigger. So at the very last minute on a Thursday evening I was running around town in a panic trying to find Lupron in time for my appointed trigger time. Braun came to the rescue and they had my RX ready for me before I even got there (and I literally live within walking distance). I LOVE this pharmacy. They work their butts off. They are fast, efficient, and extremely knowledgable and helpful. And they never rush you out the door. They always review medications and injections to make sure you leave knowing what the heck to do with your meds. I will ABSOLUTELY return and recommend them to ANYONE! read more

I went here today for the first time-and I was very impressed with Sharon (and the business as a whole). Sharon was SO kind to me-I was having issues my doctors office about my prescription and she called them to try and work it out. Also, she made sure my prescription was completed EARLIER than she originally planned because she felt sorry that I was having such an issues with the nurses at the doctors office. I am new to the city and Sharon took the time to give me step by step directions to their location. After I purchased the prescriptions and was at home I had a couple of questions and when I called she answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable about this new medication. I am very thankful that someone took the time to talk to me, making me feel as though I wasn't a burden and not rushing me off the phone. Dealing with the stress of infertility and insurance is not fun or easy, so when someone is helpful and easy to deal with it really makes all the difference. I've been using Braun's veterinary compounding services for nearly four years now. The service has been outstanding. In four years of monthly orders, there have been *two* minor problems EVER. In the first, there was a mix-up where my order was switched with another person's. No big deal, I would have noticed it immediately as the correct names were on the pill bottles. However, I didn't have that chance as Brett was on the phone immediately, apologizing profusely and notifying me my replacement order was on the way. I was impressed that he continued to call until he reached me - a message wasn't good enough for him, he wanted to make SURE I knew the drugs sent weren't correct and he talked to me personally. I feel few would have gone to that effort for a cat. The second time, I ordered two months' worth of one drug, and was sent my typical order of one. They rectified the problem at no charge immediately. Each month, I call with the refills I need and they UPS to my door. Very convenient, great service. read more

I am forced to use them because they are one of the only pharmacies that will compound medicine for Animals. I cannot tell you the incompetency of the customer service. You walk in to pick up your prescription and it takes 15 minutes because no one can find it. Then when you call to refill your prescription it takes 15 minutes because no one can find you in the system.
