every time I go to this place I regret it. The staff are fine, the problem isn't the staff, it's the management making the most ridiculous decisions of how the place works. There's an armed guard inside, which honestly is insane. A gun? What're you gonna murder someone over some tide pods? One time I went in and there was this bigger dude standing looking right at the door, directly in front of it, in plainclothes, an unmarked white hoodie. As I entered I thought "is this guy a security guard or just weird, what is going on", and later I realized he had a gun in his waist. My dude is not actually watching the store, he's just eye-groping people as they enter, real big TSA agent who thinks he's a big man energy. Then if you want a deodorant you have to press a button and wait around for someone to let it out of its little jail. Dish soap in another little product prison, laundry detergent in another. And they don't even stock the decent brands of lots of stuff! You want the yellow Scott sponges for doing dishes? Sorry they've only got those crappy blue Total Home ones. They used to carry the normal sponges. Paper towels and toilet paper too, they only carry the Total Home garbage. Usually there are handbaskets you can use for shopping, but here at Aetna's penal colony for miscellany, these too are jailed, held behind the counter and dolled out to decent folk by the cashier. Everything about this place sucks. Don't go here. There's a Jewel with a pharmacy a block north, a Mariano's a few blocks east, and a Walgreens at Clark and Catalpa for everything else. Go to one of those and avoid this place, it's terrible. read more

I just want to say that I don't know who's responsible for the photo department in this location but, every time I order photos to be printed they can never find them when I go pick them up and nobody knows anything. Its frustrating because it happens all the time. I have no complaints about any other department at this store their very professional and courteous They really need to improve their services at photos department or shut it down. read more

I have went there four times to get a prescription filled, (the prescription happens to be for a very common generic medication since my cheap skate insurance company won't pay for the brand name version) shortly after my doctor put in the order I received a telephone message saying that they were filling my prescription and they would call me when it was ready to pick up. I waited around so long for the call that I eventually had to go to work and so I called them 5 hours later on my lunch break to inquire why I had not gotten any updates on my prescription and they informed me that the medication was on manufacturer back order, allegedly. When I asked the pharmacist why they couldn't have just told me that earlier so I could have had time to call my doctor and gotten an alternative medication, the rude asshole of a pharmacist said "we have a lot of customers. We can't call everybody!" Acting like he personally makes the phone calls. No dick head it is your automatic messaging system that informs you that your prescription is ready. Can't they use that same system to inform you that your medication is on backorder or is that just too technologically advanced for them. Rude staff or at least the head pharmacist is an asshole. Poor customer service. On the upside Walgreens is not that far away so I won't be returning to CVS. read more

I've never shopped at this CVS before prior to yesterday (7/7/21). I waited to get my prescription filled and as I was walking around the store, I started to feel sharp stinging around both ankles. It felt like a pin prick. I looked down as I approached the counter and noticed 2 to 3 blood spots where the pain occurred. I'm not sure what bugs bit me, but I am certain they were from the store which is pretty dirty by comparison to other pharmacies. I will not shop there again. read more

I have been seeing Erick the pharmacist on at least a weekly basis while picking up medications. I have never had an issue with the staff at this location. I called Erick today regarding an issue with a medication coupon. After calling my insurance company and the medication's company, I was directed to call the pharmacy again. Erick answered the phone and told me there was nothing he could do even though I qualified for the coupon. He was extremely passive aggressive, and accused me of acting inappropriately. I told him I was not upset with him, but at the situation. It wasn't personal, I just needed his help. He asked me if I thought the way I was acting was appropriate. After that he ended the call before I was finished speaking. I later learned he was the one who was supposed to be making the phone calls to the insurance and medication company, not me. One of the most unprofessional situations I've ever dealt with where someone is supposed to be helping me. This is a grown man who makes more money than most with the idea he's supposed to be helping his customers, not engaging in back and forth and dealing out accusations. read more

CVS "Does it need to be this exactly"? Me "No, generic is fine" CVS "Yes we have it, that will take an hour" Me "Are you sure, I think I am a few days early" CVS "let me check, yes it was approved for $10 co-pay" One hour later CVS "Mr Mills did you get my message" Me "No" CVS "We can not fill this for three more days" Me "But you said,...... I specifically asked if I could" CVS "Sorry we made a mistake, we did not see the Doctors note" Me "Profanity profanity I'm never coming here again" What concerns me most is "They did not see the note from my Doctor" I would think this is "The Job" All I ask for is the same level competence one would expect at any fast food establishment. read more

This is the worst CVS I have ever been in. None of the aisles are labeled, they don't restock often and they don't carry very many products so it's hard to find anything. There is only ever one person working the register and they are always slow. Many of their products are expired. I found makeup that was five months expired and told the manager who was receptive and appreciated me saying something, so I'll give 2 stars for him. read more

I can report that the CVS at Broadway and Foster is officially open for business. It's smallish for a CVS -- nothing like the store at Lawrence and Damen -- and fully half of that space is devoted to non-drugstore items. But considering its size, they have a decent selection. What they don't have is choice -- you get to choose between the CVS brand and one non-CVS brand, that's it. But it's brand new, so it's still clean, and they have a goodly number of staff on the floor who can direct you to that one lone shelf of band-aids. They also have a parking lot, if that makes a difference. read more

I have been a Pharmacist for over 10 years and no longer work in the Retail/Community setting. When I needed a prescription filled, I chose this CVS because it is close to my home. I was VERY disappointed. I know very well how taxing it may be working with little help, difficult insurance companies and trying to please customers, who are usually under the weather. I was not greeted! When I was "stumbled upon" (I do not recall how the conversation started,) but I felt as if I was addressed under the breath of "what do you want!" ha! Amazing! The store was empty and the Pharmacist was sitting on a stool behind the counter and the technician was the only one who finally interacted with me. Long story long...I milled around the store for about 20 minutes (I always hated being rushed!) and when I came back they told me that they couldn't read the prescription. I proceeded to clarify it to the technician who then took my message to the Pharmacist. The Pharmacist insisted on Dr. clarification, even after I explained that I was a Pharmacist and the instructions, while difficult, were correctly dosed, etc. I will never go back. I felt ashamed to be affiliated with the Profession...other people will see this Pharmacy, and it will reflects poorly on one of the most trusted professions in America. Geeeez. read more

In short, this pharmacy sucks. They take forever and they're rude to you in person and over the phone. I've worked in a pharmacy before so I'm aware of the pressures and strain it can cause but I've never seen a group work so slowly, inefficiently, and then be so nasty to their customers. There's simply no excuse for it. Every time I need a prescription filled, I wonder why I haven't already switched pharmacies. Then, after a consistently disappointing performance, I'll have a renewed desire to do so. I just keep wanting to avoid the hassle of switching even though I'm really subjecting myself to the continued hassle of dealing with the CVS. Maybe I need some medicine to help me with this tendency? I'm moving now so I'm happily forced to switch. Store is small and doesn't carry as much inventory as other larger stores. But for the Uptown area I see it as another step towards improving the neighborhood. The store is clean, well lit and all the staff members I've met were friendly. I didn't have a problem with the $25 gift card (but I only had one- where was there more to be had?????) The pharmacy staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. I'd like to give this CVS more than just 3 stars because the pharmacy staff are great but alas I cannot. If you go here, buy your stuff at the pharmacy counter. If there's a line, wait. The people at the front checkout counter seem to have been trained by baboons. I don't know what their problem is, and frankly, I don't have to care. If customer service improved in the front checkout counter section I would certainly re-review and up their stars one or two. Pharmacy--you make this store worthwhile. Decent enough CVS. I didn't feel my blood pressure rise at any point in my visit here, so that's a plus. It's one of the more modern CVS's, so there's a lot of fancy signage. Compared to the customer service of other CVS locations, this place is great. Compared to other big chain retail stores that probably pay minimum wage, it's average. The cashiers seem to understand how coupons work and there aren't too many customers. They still don't believe me when I tell them that closing out a sale will let me access the promotion again, but at least they do it. This location doesn't have self-checkout, or else I'd do it myself. There store has its own grocery carts, which is very helpful when I load up on soda. read more

On the down side, it's a small store without much inventory, but on the upside: 1. The makeup selection is decent. I really love Physician's Formula products, and I'm happy to know they have a good selection so I don't have to trek down to Ulta. 2. Holy moly, the customer service I had was great!!! It's nice to finally have a dedicated drug store in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they don't sell any good drugs over the counter. I don't like the way the store is laid out, and John B. is correct - it seems really small. However, it is very clean (that likely will not last long in this neighborhood). It's well lit. The AC is cranked to freezing cold. Parking is ample. I prefer the Walgreens near Lawrence and Marine, but this will do in a pinch. . It's carpeted with ugly gray carpet squares like their other stores. Could someone please tell why CVS carpets their stores? Will we spend more money when our tootsies walk upon carpet? Wow is all. I get a phone call a week ago telling me my prescription is ready so I go over to pick it up, but the injectable med doesn't have a scrip for the syringes to administer, so they have to get those called in and I'm told will be done immediately. I come back the next morning before work but they don't open until 9 (coz that's super convenient) and then I was busy with work and prior commitments. Fast forward a week, of getting harassing phone calls daily, I have the time to go back and guess what? There aren't any syringes and they have to call and request them again. Torn, I'm so torn. Pharmacy is excellent, 5 stars, thumbs up! Photo-shop is terrible, 1 star, thumbs way way down. Ok, the pharmacy gets my prescription quickly and the staff is very knowledgeable. The photo-shop, well they "lost" my photos, even though they found my order online and insisted that I must have picked them up. Or did I get the right CVS? Or did someone else pick up my photos? Or did I place an order in the first place? Anyway, the disgruntled soul behind the counter asked me to resend my pictures. I didn't. This is the second time I've had a problem with the photo-shop, the first time was being told by that same disgruntled soul that the passport photo's that I had just made, could not in fact be used as passport photo's. Interesting. She didn't charge me for them, so I suppose that earns a star. I did go to the Walgreens on Wilson and Clark to get my passport photos done and they were accepted by the passport agency. Good times. I like CVS, and this store isn't too bad, and they even take back make-up even if the packaging is open. Just don't get your photo's printed here. read more

I tried to give this store my business today but was unable to invest more time waiting to pay. I was the only one in line, but unfortunately both employees behind the counter were intensely involved in dealing with another customer's strange problem of some sort, which seemed to involve coupons or a $1,000 bill or something. Kept thinking one employee would break away to handle the long line of one, or announce "I see one!" or something. I know I could have grunted or squawked, but that just isn't me. I was simply out of time and had an appointment to get to, so I put everything back. Sorry I put the candy bar on a shelf in the vitamins section. I figured that would be a nicer "protest" move than putting all my items on the counter and then leaving. All but the candy bar are back where they started. I received some CVS coupons in the mail for this new store that just opened. Being frugal in this economy, I walked the extra mile over to Broadway & Foster to use my coupons (free litre of Diet Pepsi; $10 off on a $20 purchase; and a free $25 CVS gift card for each transferred or new prescription). I transferred 2 prescriptions over to them, but when I came to pick them up, I was told that I could only use one of the $25 coupons I had. I had to argue with the pharmacist on duty in order to get the two $25 CVS gift cards I was supposed to receive, as I had transferred two prescriptions - not just one. I finally told him I was going to pick up just one of the prescriptions then to get my $25 CVS gift card, and that I would come back later to get the other prescription, which I would pick up separately to get the other $25 CVS gift card. He finally agreed to that. I didn't think it had to be such a hassle! The store is very clean but very small. The store clerks were very friendly. There is ample parking, and the bus stops right on the corner for those who take public transportation. The Red Line El stop is Argyle & Broadway or Berwyn (both 2 blocks away). read more

It would also be nice if they were open until midnight, but they close at 10pm. If you're looking for sales items, this store has a problem with keeping things in stock like a lot of CVSes. Still, the people who work here make up for the lack and I'd rather go here than the bigger CVS at 6150 N. Broadway with its crap employees. read more
