This location is my favorite Walgreens store. The second I walked in, I'm always greeted by the kind female cashier. The pharmacy staff is amazing, they tend to your needs with kindness and patience. Not sure if this is going to make a difference based on the other reviews; but, here goes. Went here twice today to get a prescription that was ready. The first time, "pharmacists all on break" so there was no staff there at 12:30 to get our script. Yep, in the middle of the day on a Saturday. So, we finished our errands and went back at 5:15 and you guessed it, they were now closed. So, he is without his pain meds for the evening. This is not the first time. Completely give up here. The fact that they go on a "daily lunch break" with out staffing the pharmacy in this day and age is unthinkable. This is when people are picking up their prescriptions. How sad is this. All of the small businesses in Andersonville are expected to be fully staffed during normal business hours and this would be completely unacceptable. And, a major corporation such as Walgreens, can just hang up a sign and go to lunch without having a back up plan. We are fortunate to have a plan and transportation. What about those that have to uber? Or walk there? Hoping that people will make a change here with their money and pull there prescriptions out. Go to Jewel across the street. A truly terrible experience with the pharmacy staff. Alicia was extremely rude to me when asking about a script that I had called over 5 hrs prior to make sure it would be ready. I showed up 15 mins after the time they told me for Alicia to greet me with an extremely rude and condescending attitude. It seems to be all Walgreens pharmacy staff is beyond rude when you show up WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO! The aisles are clean and when it comes to picking up an online order or photo order they are ready less than 30 minutes. The front register lady is so nice and friendly. I see lots of bad reviews about this store. I will definitely stay away from the pharmacy and photo department based on what I read. Otherwise my experience in at this location has been fine, especially when it comes to customer service. The staff is always around and available when I have questions. The store is well lit and well stocked, and is always clean. They actually have a nice selection of frozen foods to hold you over if you don't want to go into that hellhole across the street know as Jewel. The sales are pretty decent as well when it comes to the things I like (lotion, body wash, OPI nail polish, etc.). And they have a nice selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, salads and pastries. Usually there is not a line and today was no exception. There was a long line today when I got there, but I heard the code for more cashier's to come to the front. For the life of me I can never remember what it is, but when I hear it, I know it means the line is long and they need more cashier's up front. The gentleman that waited on me today was very pleasant and engaging. And the young lady who assisted me in looking for more shades of OPI was very helpful as she pointed out other brands that were on sale. So I guess I would say just hang at the store section and stay away from the pharmacy and photo section. read more

It's a-ok. It's a Walgreens, similar to the thousands of others, I'd suspect. As this one was built probably in the last 5-7 years, it's clean and bright and uses their new Euro-inspired queueing system. They have a pretty large parking lot given two in Andersonville, and they offer web pickup. read more

The employees at the pharmacy and store are amazing and super kind. Waiting in line is a normal part of daily life. Patrons who can't do so without being rude should re-evaluate. Other human beings are doing a service for you by preparing your meds or helping you out. The least you can do is be respectful and expect to wait for a little bit without huffing and puffing. This store is extra busy because this neighborhood has been commercially gentrified and brings lots of foot traffic from people outside the neighborhood. If people who have lived here for decades can put up with being respectful while waiting, surely everyone else can too read more

I went into the store and purchased $60 worth of items only to be told the $7 would go into my account fir next time. I refilled a prescription, and when I got home I noticed it was someone else's even though the info stapled to the bag had my information on it -- the pill bottle itself was labeled with a different patient's name and a different medication. I took the initiative to call it in and bring the pill bottle back the next day. The pharmacist told me I might be hearing from HIPAA regarding Walgreens' violation of the other patient's privacy (I know their name, their address and what med they are taking). I asked how they typically compensate customers who help them out by doing the right thing when they mess up. I was told they won't do anything for me but they will probably have to do something for the other patient. Next time I'll go right to the HIPAA people. In fact I think I will do that this weekend and also reach out to corporate in Deerfield. Not cool. read more

I am a veterinarian and I have called in many hundreds if not thousands of prescriptions. Never have I encountered: 1) a requirement to give the pet OWNER'S birthdate (the pet: yes, the owner: no) 2)someone so rude as to say "thank you for your LACK of help" and then hang up on me when I said, "I'm sorry, but information about the client's/pet owner's date of birth is not part of a veterinary record." 3)a pharmacist who is actually incapable of outlining what it is they want/need on a prescription to meet their "policies" so that in the future I would be prepared (and not waste time answering their three return phone calls in which, by the way, they asked for much of the same information I had already provided either in prior phone calls or on their answering device or both ). The process went further as they proceeded to call the client/pet owner and confuse them by asking them for information that they (the client) were smart enough to know the veterinarian (that's me ) should (and already did) provide. This reflected poorly on MY services (for which my client chastised me later) People at Walgreens corporate: no law requires a pet OWNER to reveal their age in order to fill a PET prescription for amoxicillin. Asking for this information is merely a way for you to create profiles on your customers for your benefit. It's rude and disrespectful of customers' privacy. Will you next be asking our age when we buy personal hygiene products? People at Walgreens 5440 N. Clark St: 1) you are not the only folks whose time matters 2) we are not all stupid 3) you are not all smart 4) you are not the only pharmacy in town. This pharmacy is the bane of my existence. I'm a freelancer, so I'm able to go to the pharmacy at different times of day. I've tried showing up at 10am, noon, 4pm, 8pm--no matter what I do, there is a line 17 people deep that takes forever to get through. I dunno why this place has such a hard time convincing people to work there, but they also recently started closing every afternoon for lunch. I don't begrudge anybody a lunch break, but damn: hire some more pharmacists, y'all. To add insult to injury, my phone can't get any signal in there, so I have to pass the time in line complaining with all the other people who are stuck in there all afternoon instead of looking at the internet and pretending I'm somewhere else. Today the lady behind me just left without her meds because she didn't have more time to waste in line. Seriously, nothing personal to the people that work there, but if you have the ability to get your meds anywhere else, take it. read more

If getting a prescription filled here, make sure to double-check the medication to ensure that you received the proper pills and correct number of pills. This week they shorted me 30 pills and I had to return to the pharmacy to get it sorted out. I'm sure this issue is not unique to this location. Whelp it's official, we are moving our scripts to CVS. My kids doctor sent a script for Amoxicillin to this Walgreens at 9am. I show up at 4:15pm and they tell me "it's still being worked on." If they didn't out right lie to my face I would consider coming back but they did so we're gone. Ignoring the fact that it shouldn't take 7 hours to extract liquid from one container into another, it also shouldn't take 30 minutes which is how long I waited fo them to "finish" working on it. And to top it off, I get tired of waiting so I walk up to the counter and my prescription is sitting there. For how long?? I have no idea but I know I sat there for 30 minutes!! I wonder how much longer I would have sat there if I didn't walk up. read more

i have NOT ONCE picked up a prescription from here in the past year and a half that wasn't the incorrect amount of pills. you would think in pharmacy counting would be fundamental but apparently not and i'm fed up with it. i shouldn't have to count every single one of my pills when i get home to make sure i actually have enough because insurance doesn't let you refill early so if i don't catch their mistake i'm just out of pills. good thing occasionally they count wrong in the opposite direction and give me more than they're supposed to as well read more

This is a combined review for the Pharmacy section and the store section. First of all, the store looked wonderful (but, it's new, so no surprise there) but the staff was horrible. We walked in, happy to have a Walgreens closer and excited about the opening. I never expect much from drug store employees; it's tedious work and I always see them dealing with jerk customers, so, we just stick to ourselves. However, we got shunted aside by some employee who apparently desperately needed to fill the fridges with two energy drinks. No excuse me, no nothing. When we went to pay for our items, there was a line and only one clerk. When the other appeared he just stood there for about two minutes, not saying anything. He jerked his head towards us, like we were some sort of 1950s lackey, and I guess that meant he had been waiting for us to step over. Uh, what? How was I supposed to know your register was open? You were just standing there, staring straight ahead like a zombie, dude. The Pharmacy was even worse. We were helped by this female pharmacist named Aidelyn (I'm sure I'm arranging the letters wrong, but her name was either this or something quite similar), who was incredibly rude, lazy, and generally unhelpful. She was unnecessarily sharp, couldn't be bothered to check with other male pharmacist about our medication, and didn't even give us the medicine she said she was giving us. We called an hour earlier, trying to switch our prescription, and talked to a male pharmacist, who said all of them would be switched. They weren't. When we came in and mentioned this, she claimed that she had no idea who we talked to (uh, there's only you and one other guy, lady... soooooo e_O) and acted like it was a big pain in her ass to try and fill them. Honey, if you don't like your job or DOING your job, I suggest you get another one. read more

This is the cleanest Walgreens I have ever been in. Even the little sale signs are all individually straightened. It's like they are ready to film a commercial in there at any moment. On my first trip I even asked if they had just opened-- nope. Over a year ago. The pharmacy is amazing. The people who work there always are friendly, and almost talk me into a discussion with the pharmacist just to make sure I am comfortable with my medications. If you are shopping for something in the toiletries/cosmetics area, a cosmetics specialist will find you, and make sure that you do not require any additional help. I have seen a woman in the store that likes the grocery section so much that she has a hard time carrying all of her grocery bags by herself when she leaves. Pretty amazing considering the Walgreens is ACROSS FROM JEWEL. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand or curtsy when you present yourself maybe not for you. I've been getting medications from Walgreens for 7ish years... numerous locations in Boystown, Lakeview and Uptown... and have had a unnerving stream of occasional mishaps (usually when my doctor changes my prescriptions or dosage). But tonight when that happened something was different that made all the difference. The cashier in the pharmacy, Cody, instead of treating me as if the mix-up was my fault... or trying to pawn it off as my doctor's error... he simply fixed the mistake... and he did it with kindness and humor. I needed that kind of respectful, capable treatment at that moment in time in particular. Would that all Walgreens employees follow Cody's lead. I'm kind of baffled by all the negative reviews on this place, especially as they relate to unhappy employees. I pick up prescriptions here weekly for family members, and every time I walk in the door, I'm greeted "hello" by the person at the front register as I walk by. There is always a pharmacist behind the register or sitting at their desk nearby, who always makes eye contact with me. The pharmacy register staff know me by name, always give me a smile and ask if I have any questions. And.. one member of their pharmacy staff signed my dog up for the walgreens prescription card to save me money, when I didn't even know dogs were eligible. That employee saved me over $1,000 per year. I've not had much interaction otherwise with employees, but when I've asked for help on cold medicine from the pharmacist, they come out, walk the aisles with me and help me out. The employees here seem to go well beyond any normal experience at a walgreens or elsewhere. It's a good store, friendly staff and I've never had a single problem. read more

This is a store I often go to. It's such a convenient location for me. I did there probably 5-6 passport size photos in last 2 years. The pictures are bad quality. When they take a pic the resolution is fine, but when they print it, it's pretty bad. The second thing is lighting. They have a photo section, but they use no lighting when they take a picture of you. I don't ask for any super fancy professional lighting, but anything other than "I just took a passport pic in my living room" light would be much better. Nevertheless, I addressed "photo specialist Cesar and man, he brushed me off. He could say many generic excuses and I would be fine, but he didn't. A person would think that "photo specialists" would listen to a customer :) My plus about this store is location location location.. and the store is really clean, full and organized. I never purchased something broken or bad. In that way its really superb. But their customer level employees in year 2017- I'm sorry, not good. read more

This Walgreens used to be better, but they've gotten really bad at their jobs in the pharmacy. They repeatedly told me that they had sent a refill request to my doctor, and were chastising the doctor for not responding, and yelling at me for wasting their time. They refused to help me figure out what the problem was, because the doctor said he was not getting their requests. Turns out they were using the wrong fax number to send the refill requests and because they refused to call the doctor to figure out the issue, I had to figure this out over a period of three days, and missed several doses of medication. They offered no apology, and no help. Even though I'd used Walgreens for many years, I had too many incidents like this, especially at this Walgreens, so I moved my prescriptions to a CVS shortly thereafter. It really seems like they don't care about people's health... as a chain, but especially in this particular store. read more
