So slow at the drivethru. I sat for 40 minutes in a line with only 3 vehicles!! Not acceptable. They act like you are bothering them. I just want my medication for my sick child! They need more caring individuals working in the pharmacy. This guy was so slow and acted like he couldn't find my prescriptions. He said I will be right back... finally about 7 mins later he came back with the meds. My husband we seen last Saturday morning at Patriot Urgent Care. His Rx was digitally sent to CVS pharmacy in Dunkirk. 1.5 hours later I arrived at CVS. I would love to give you the names of the employees that I encountered but NO ONE WEARS A NAME BADGE. The waiting line was 14 people deep inside the store. The drive-up window was only slightly less waiting. Just as I was about 5 from the front, the cashier announced that she was going to take her break. There were 10 customers in line at this time. She got her water bottle, her phone, and walked away. We all stood there rather shocked. After 5 minutes another woman walked to the counter and started working with customers. When I got to the front of the line the original cashier returned. I showed her the printout of the Rx and gave her my husband's ID and insurance cards. She looked in her computer and said, "Nothing is here." I showed her the printout with the confirmation of the digitally transfered orders. She said, "You will need to wait at Drop Off counter. Someone will come talk to you." I waited and waited and waited. At that time there was a female cashier, a male working the drive-up window, a female counting pills and filling bottles, and another female at another area. Again, no one was wearing a name badge or any ID to tell you what their role was. The woman counting pills finally, after waiting 7 minutes at the counter, walks over to me and says, "Do you need something?" What happened to "How may I help you?" I told her that I was instructed to come to this window because my husband's Rx was not in the computer system. She types something in the computer and says, "There is nothing here yet." I asked her, "So what is the process? What do I have to do now?" She tells me that I have to talk to the pharmacist. "OK. Is the pharmacist here?" "Yes. She is here. She will come talk to you when she is able." By this time I'm a little snippy. "In an hour? In 30 minutes? Today?" That is when the woman who took over for the first cashier (who went on break) comes over and asks to see the Rx print out from the urgent care. She types into the computer and says, "The prescriptions are here. It will take 20-30 minutes for me to get them done." I said, "OK. I will be back in 30 min." AT NO TIME DID SHE MENTION THAT THEY CLOSE FOR LUNCH AT 1:30. It is now 1257. I returned at 1:27pm and the cashier says, "We are closing for lunch." At that time I see the sign at the cash register that says they close for lunch at 1:30. I told her that it is 1:27 and she still has 3 minutes. Then she tells me that the prescription isn't ready. I look up at the pharmacist who clearly does not want to be in the middle of this. The phamacist says to me, "I will be right with you." The cashier leaves for lunch. The pharmacist then tells the pill counter something and the pill counter works on our Rx. It took another 10 minutes to get all 4 meds filled. 1 - Badges with names and titles should be worn by every employee. 2 - A pharmacist who is working a cash register means that orders are not being filled and the back up is getting longer. 3 - Customer service should be a priority. "Do you need something" is not an option. 4 - Communication is key. Let the customer know exactly what the status is. Honestly. "The prescriptions should be ready in 30 minutes but please know that we close for lunch at 1:30pm". 5 - Breaks are important but so is an appropriate break relief system. read more

Not really a bad review, but this pharmacy has done this to me twice now and people should be aware that it could happen to them. Once at the inside pharmacy pickup I waited in line for a good while until it was my turn, just to be told they are now closed for 30 minute lunch break. No prior warning this would happen after waiting in line. It happened again today at the drive through pickup window. Wait in line until my turn just to be told they are now closed, come back in 30 minutes, again no prior warning. Just a heads up. read more

This pharmacy canceled my COVID vaccine appointment on the same day as the appointment. I read another review with this same-day cancellation issue but assumed it was a one-time circumstance. Will never schedule with these folks again. read more

The service here is horrible. They're rude, unskilled and quite frankly, deliberately unhelpful. They do not have the training required to provide the skilled service needed. This CVS is the most frustrating place to visit. Every time I go to use the minute clinic no one is there to help and once you wonder around the store for 10 minutes and ask an employee they say it's not their department and cannot help. I've visited this minute clinic more than 3 times and always face this problem of rude unhelpful employees. Do not recommend. read more

Pharmacy knows they are one of the few in the area that provides certain meds, yet they are not providing the right amount of staffing to meet their demand. I had to picked up a prescription only to find out that using a coupon would require me to stand in another line to process. After getting that coupon processed, I was told to stand back in pick up lane to pay for my prescription. I didn't mind having to stand back in an even longer line. The thing that upset me is that the Pharmacist told me that we would just have to stand back in line "like we were taught in kindergarten". You don't talk to your customers that way...especially when there's a big crowd. Please be kind and treat people well!!! read more

It is not well managed and typically you have to wait at least 2-3 hours plus 20-30 minutes in line just to pick up a prescription. This store has had a short staff sign on the drive through window for months now. I go to the store next to my job and it is equally busy but never a long wait to get service. Unfortunately we are stuck with this in northern Calvert county and not many other options. I'm guessing it's why they choose not to properly staff this location because they get the business no matter what. Two days in a row I have faced problems with this Pharmacy. The first situation was being told that I was 1 min. after 1:30pm & would not he helped, yet I was waiting my turn before 1:30pm. There was no one behind me in line, BUT I needed to come back after 2pm. That is being totally inconsiderate to a customer! The next day after when I drove again 1/2hr to get a 2nd Rx that their auto-responder computer informed me that 'it was ready for pick-up'. Yet, when I get there that I needed approval from my Dr & insur. provider. The Pharm.Mgr. Mrs.Cooper told me that I was 'not' listening to her explanation. When I addressed that the CVS computer telling me it was ready & that was false. I called my Dr.& got the approval myself & this issue took me from 11:30am until 2:15pm waiting for my Rx. finally. This is poor Management Mrs.Cooper & still being treated in an inconsiderate manner. The 1st Rx was for High Blood Pressure & the 2nd was for Acid Reflux. I wish I caught the staff names in this situation so I could put them on blast. I have to go to CVS pharmacy in order to fill my son's EpiPen that he needs every year for school. CVS has the EpiPen two pack for $109. It's cheaper than insurance. His pediatrician writes a prescription for EpiPen. I go to the pharmacy to get it filled, the nasty uneducated girl behind the counter goes on to tell me that the prescription is incorrect because it doesn't describe what kind of EpiPen it is and that there's somehow millions of different types of epipens. I explained to her we get it filled here every time and it's the EpiPen adult. I go on to explain to her that there's really only two epipens a junior and adult. I contact my pediatrician who goes on to tell me that the pharmacy is not interpreting the written prescription correctly because "Junior" wasn't written on the script, therefore it is an adult epipen. I have my pediatrician electronically send the prescription to the pharmacy. I got a weird robotic message from CVS pharmacy saying that they're trying to obtain approval to fill the prescription. I call CVS to then be connected to this nasty uneducated bitch who tells me the prescription is 371. I then have to explain to her that you have an EpiPen to pack for 109 on your website. She completely ignores me and explains that it's 371. I explained to her multiple times that it is not. I call the other CVS at Bayside and had the prescription transferred there. I asked the pharmacist there if she understood what I was talking about regarding the two pack EpiPen for 109. She understood exactly and filled the prescription. It seems the goal of Dunkirk pharmacy is not to distribute medication but to create all kinds of barriers preventing that. read more

I am moving my prescription elsewhere. This pharmacy has went downhill. The last several times I tried to pick up medication that was already sent electronically, I was told that my prescription wasn't ready, despite the request being sent hours earlier. I asked the clerk when it would be ready. She says next week. Um what! It's an antibiotic. However we can expedite it today, come back in 15 mins. I ask the clerk, what's going on ? Every time a med is electronically sent here, I am being told to come back in 15 mins! She says there are over 7,000 people waiting bla bla bla ? Then she says it's not worth it to be yelled at for minimum wage ? Excuse me ? Then proceeds to tell me I can take my prescription to Giant or Walmart. Ma'am, that's where I will be going moving forward. Zero stars ! read more

IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO I WOULD!!! I called to check on 3 prescriptions, my doctors office called all at once. The pharmacy told that my doctor had called one of my prescriptions into several other pharmacies. I told the girl that doesn't make any sense. She said I would have to call my doctor or I could pay an additional fee because my insurance now will not cover it because it's been called in somewhere else. I called my doctors office, that laughed, said no they only called them all in to CVS at 1:47 PM. The pharmacist got on the phone, said I was yelling at her and the other employees, (I wasn't) at this point. She then said that is I didn't like it to go somewhere else. She is a rude nasty SOB. Just about every time I need a question answered from this pharmacy via phone, I get immediate bad attitudes from whomever is on the line. I understand being in a customer service role can be frustrating pretty often because frankly people can be jerks, but when I am asking a general question about my medication with no angry or condescending tone in my voice, the last thing you should do is talk to me like I'm a child. They texted me that an RX was ready; I went to pick it up and it was not ready. They said an hour. The next day I called to ask if it was ready and they said yes; waited in drive thru for 30 minutes. It wasn't ready. They promised it would be ready in an hour, I said I'd be back the next day. I went today to pick it up. It was not ready and THREE people came to the window to reprimand ME for asking for an EXPEDITED service! SMH. They are the WORST. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. This location supposedly offers flu shots to ages 3 and older, but I took my 4 year old in today and the person doing the vaccinations clearly wasn't trained enough to vaccinate children. My son was crying, I was holding him in my lap and he was squirming a bit but there's no reason why she couldn't have quickly given him the vaccine. Any seasoned, experienced person would have been able to do so. She was too nervous to do it, my guess is she hasn't been doing this very long at all. It was not his first flu shot, and being 4, it's not his favorite thing to do, yet I've never been unsuccessful in getting the vaccine done...until now. Also, she wasn't very personable or good with kids. My son was clearly getting upset and she did nothing to help make him comfortable or calm him down. Just sat there staring with a "duh" look on her face. Thank you, CVS in Dunkirk, for making me waste time out of my day to go there for nothing. What a joke. This CVS pharmacy..... in a word BOTHERED. A very short tempered and unhappy staff works here. Easily flustered and upset by minor questions and requests. Consistently abrasive, rude, and impatient with customers. Take your prescriptions anywhere else. This CVS pharmacy cannot handle the volume of customers that it takes on and it needs to be properly prioritized by the company. It's standard of customer service has gone progressively downhill over the course of last 5 years.... Such a shame. read more

This is probably the busiest CVS in the Southern Maryland region. They have been unable to get prescriptions that I depend on ordered and did not offer to search other CVS locations until I specifically asked. I had to drive 30 miles out of my way to a CVS in Upper Marlboro to get my prescription filled. Last night during peak hours, my wife tried to stop on her way home at 6:25 PM to pick up some prescriptions. There was a sign on the drive thru widow and on the front door that said closed till further notice with no explanation. I've heard from others that this has happened before at this location. Your best bet is to find another location to get your prescriptions filled in my opinion. read more

My Husband has a standing prescription that is filled quarterly. Three out of 4 times it's late, not in stock, don't have the 90 day supply so come back or they just don't fill it!! The employees are rude, nasty, negative people who act like they are doing me a favor to fill a prescription. If our insurance would allow I would move I have spoken to CVS Corp and they are aware. The pharmacist, Casey, is an incredibly nasty woman. In her mind, she should be practicing medicine instead of licensed physician prescribers. She refused to even entertain the idea of ordering a generic medication when other "perfectly good" (her words) generics are on the shelf, regardless of what the physician would prefer the patient to receive, and was disdainful when I tried to engage her as to why. She then went so far as to say "I can't even take you seriously right now" when I brought up other pharmacies dispensing the very same generic. As a pharmaceutical sales representative with a significant amount of business in the area, I will be sure to make all of my offices aware of this misguided outlook (and this pharmacist's outright hostile attitude) in the hope that they send their patients to a pharmacy puts the needs of the patient over what the pharmacist arbitrarily decides is easiest route for herself. read more

I am a drug rep for a very popular medication. I just called to ask a question about a prescription and was told by the pharmacy tech that I was "wasting her time" and it "seems to be a billing issue which isn't my problem." She then hung up on me. I called back and asked her why she hung up before she resolved this issue and she put me on hold mid-sentence, never to return to the call. Never in my life have I encountered such blatant lack of professionalism. I felt like I was dealing with an unruly Jerry Springer Show guest. What an absolute piece of trash. I will literally never, ever consider stopping into this CVS for a pack of gum let alone a prescription for as long as I live. Side note, I will be telling every doctor's office I call on (and have been calling on for four years) about the incompetence and complete lack of concern for patients at this location. Whoever was "working" the phones at 3:30 PM on October 9th 2018 deserves a written warning from her superior at the very least. read more

I've been a local customer of CVS for years but had a horrible experience in May of 2018 at their pharmacy. Debra (an older white female) was working the drive-thru window and lacked all kinds of customer service abilities. She spoke to me as if I was a child and acted like I was an idiot. This happened not just once, but twice for drop off and pick up of my daughters meds. Upon pick up, after being nasty with me - I told her that I could not focus properly due to her poor attitude and she shrugged me off and got the lead pharmacist to be behind her as I made payment. The treatment was so bad that even my 10 year old daughter took notice and asked why she was talking to me like that. In order to not make a scene - I drove off and then called the pharmacy to talk to the manager or person in charge. That's when a male answered the phone. I told him what happened and he transferred me to a young lady ( a white lead pharmacist) who she had accompany her at the window the second time shortly after I mentioned she had an attitude. I begin to explain how I felt and she cut me off and dismissed me. She told me that it was not what she took from it. Mind you, she was not there for most of it. Hmmm?! Anyways, after I said my peace - she still dismissed me and gave me a unapologetic apology. I asked he what her name was and she said it was, Casey. She made me feel as if my feelings were not valid and that it was OK to treat paying customers like crap. That being said, I will never go there again and they have lost me and a few other members in my family as customers. They all need to be retrained and I can't help to think that this had a lot to do with racial profiling being that I am what's considered a "minority". I am so over the racism here in Calvert County, MD. Do not give this CVS your money - they do not treat their customers right. read more

Kill em with kindness and you will go far. All of my prescriptions are at CVS-for sake of continuity and ability to travel nationally easily and ability to get what I need basically anywhere. I was in Maryland for a few months on rotation for school and a few things needed to be transferred from my Florida location. Ran into a few snafus on more than one occasion. Pharmacist here was more than accommodating. At least twice the pharmacist (I believer her name was Sarah) helped me get something released from my other store, requested when I ran out of refills, and didn't give me an issue when I had an out of state hard copy Rx (which matched my student ID and DL). She also was more than accommodating with getting my mom her stomach meds on NYE before going out of town, and since it's an expensive brand name drug she always runs the patient loyalty program coupons in addition to the insurance so that the copay drops. Avoid the drive in-if you want service, you need to put a face with a name. Screaming into a piece of glass won't get you what you want. Being nice will, as well as trying not to go on Saturday at 2:00. Be patient and you will have a good experience here like I have. read more

Just awful. Understaffed Disorganized and Rude. the management and personnel really just don't care.

I'm sure the only thing that sets this location apart from a few others is the minute clinic and the drive-thru pharmacy. The staff is like any other staff, some go above and beyond, others do not. The one thing I like about this CVS is that it sits right off of Rt.4, and is near other shops. There is ample parking, a Redbox located out front, and automatic sliding glass doors at the entrance. Oh, and they even have a quick print center for printing pictures. read more

Tried for over an hour to pick up a script today...the automated system told me the refill would be ready by noon...drove up to the drive thru window after waiting approximately 20 min in line ...arrived at 1pm and was told to come back in 15 min....hmmm...told him I would meet him inside in 15...parked my car waited about 10 min...walked inside the screens are pulled over the pharmacy windows no signs visible...but I hung around ignored for about 10 min...finally a customer said they are closed for lunch until 2pm...so I get back in my car back in the line for the drive thru....the line didn't move...lady in front of me fell asleep...luckily she had shut her car off first...several more minutes pass...I get to the window tell the guy there he might have warned me they were closed inside, adding I wasn't moving without my script this time...he closed the window...about 5 mote minutes pass then an irate young lady opens the window and starts shouting at me...my script was still not ready they are 5 days behind and if I don't move my car they will call "the cops"....very class act....and waste of my time! read more

CVS deserves zero stars from me, but in order to leave a review here, I have to rate it at least one. I have been going there ever since I moved to Calvert County two years ago. Unfortunately, as part of my benefit package, I am forced to patronize CVS with my business. This review is based solely on my interactions with the pharmacy staff. The store itself is fine, but God help you if you must fill a prescription there. I have had a number of long wait times in the drive thru and inside the store, but that's not the worst problem. The biggest problem is the pharmacy staff, their attitudes, and their blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. The medicine that I am prescribed is never in stock, is never ordered when I ask, and the staff refuses to give information out about its availability to me over the phone. (Even though if they bothered to pull my record, they would see that I have been on this medicine for a while.) Their incompetence results in many wasted trips to CVS and wasted time waiting in line only to be told to "come back in a few days" or "the person who orders medicine is vacation" or "try another pharmacy." I called the pharmacy to file a complaint about my most recent visit, and the manager at the time, Tyler, laughed at me when I inquired about the medication's status and told him about my issue with the visit. He proceeded to tell me he "did not have time to deal with this." I have never been treated so rudely by anyone before. I am extremely frustrated about my past experiences with this particular CVS pharmacy. I am putting this out here so that no one has to go through what I have been through there. I have decided that going forward I will take advantage of the mail order part of the prescription plan. I never want to go to this pharmacy ever again. read more

I am a CVS regular, no matter where I am - school or home. The staff here is usually very friendly, and the store is usually clean. I've also gone to the minute clinic a few times and the nurses have always been very helpful and willing to run tests (I thought I had strep). The pharmacy is usually good with prescriptions and service. I got someone pretty sassy last time, but it wasn't enough to deter me. I also need to get them to refill prescriptions often because they'll fill the generic when I need the name brand (for some reason it's cheaper!). They're willing to call my doctor and discuss problems you might have. I've been coming here for a decade or so and I don't think that will change any time soon. Love this place. read more

This is the worst CVS in the us. If you can avoid getting your prescription filled here, you'll be served better else where! The Pharmacist is the nastiest lady I have ever met! I pulled up to the window at 5:45 they close at 6. My prescription wasn't ready and they asked me to go to the back of the line. Trying to be nice I let others go ahead of me, I finally was back to the window and they said sorry we are closed!!! Then the pharmacist caught the most disgusting attitude after I told her the employees told me it was okay! She said she had to get home to her grandkids and made we feel like such a burden. Obviously if you are trying to do your shopping at CVS it is going to cost you. Make sure you take the time to get the CVS discount card. So what is there to know about this particular location? The Good: There is a minute clinic inside, the pharmacy has a drive thru, they have an ATM, their Kodak picture maker actually works, they have a Red Box. The Not so Good: Prepare to wait in line. They simply do not have enough staff. It is rare that I am able to run in and run out. read more

So apparently the DEA has a new rule where CVS Pharmacist can only open the narcotics safe every few hours. Meaning that it takes 3 hours to fill your medication. I called the joke of a manager named ROCHELLE and questioned why it took 3 hours to fill a prescription... in return she kept interrupting and being rude as shit, then proceeded to hang up on me! I'm 36 and I know that if you're a "manager" at least have any kind of professionalism at your job, then you do not HANG UP ON THE CUSTOMER!!!!! Rochelle is a joke, the pharmacy is a joke, and so is the entire store and chain for that matter. I went to complain to corporate to no avail, their number stays on hold for over 20 minutes and there is no contact email.
