I want to appreciate this Walmart bcus it's local to me and I do frequent this location. But to be honest, I'm not sure if it's due to lack of staff, a large amount of customers or what, but getting customers out of the building is beyond frustrating. Coming in on a Saturday mid-afternoon, I would've thought that more than 2-registers would be opened at this hour, but it was our (a large amount of us) only option. Not even including the self-check out as options, it could certainly encourage someone to leave without paying for items..... just something to note for later. I bought two three pairs pf shoes and only the third pair fit and matched my style after telling help everyone and in total having three people help me. There's also plenty of people to help but they mostly just stand around the store and the manager was kind of rude when I asked to return and get a refund. I like there products but you can find a better store with more and better customer service easier. Also they called me him when I clearly look like a woman fucking trans phobic bitches. read more

It was kind of refreshing visiting a smaller than average Walmart location. Somehow Walmart locations have become these behemoths of locations that they just don't work. But every so often you come across one that is smaller and seems like there was some actual thought put into it. I don't remember exactly what I came in here for. Most likely it was because I was looking for something here that I couldn't find elsewhere. And with an upcoming trip on the horizon, it was more than likely items to restock my toiletries. Located in a nice location with a completely remodeled Giant grocery store, this Dunkirk Walmart is one of the worst I've shopped in. Terrible selection. Same items week after week. I shopped at this Walmart really early in the morning on a Sunday. The store was being stocked by the employees. Everything I needed was available. I enjoyed being able to get in and out relatively easily. Only the self checkout section was open at the time. I will be back. read more

15 Jun at approx 3:20pm. No one cashier was open to make a purchase. No a single aisle. I asked the employee at the self checkout if a cashier was available, she said that one was not. She was polite about it. So now Walmart expects all "customers" to act as employees by scanning their own items. Eff that. I will make my purchase at another store. read more

I have been shopping here for over 10 years without any issue. Sure, I've waited in a line now and then, but for most of the time I've been helped more than accordingly. Clean place, the people are friendly. Not much for grocery items but it has the basic everyday items. Its in a safe area for the most part.

Clean and neat, which is a nice change from the typical Walmart. The convenience of a Walmart fits nicely with the all-too-scattered landscape that is the Dunkirk shopping scene. Selections are limited. The originally planned superstore would've been a better edition. Limited all-in-one shopping around Dunkirk necessitates greater selection, not less. The lack of a garden center and automotive garage means more stops around Calvert County. read more

I know, I know...first the Waffle House, now this. I know you're probably thinking, "Hm...she seemed so in tune with her Urban life*." Now you know the truth. I'm a redneck. But not so brick red in the nape to appreciate Dunkirk's latest attempt at convenience shopping. Though the box store was fought, and through some success, thwarted (Walmart originally proposed one of their ginormous megaeverythingyouwantinonestore structures), a smaller Walmart was added to another piece of former farmland in Calvert Co. And at first, it wasn't bad. Smaller, brightly lit and strangely neat and tidy, this little Walmart showed promise in it's infancy. Guiltily sneaking in to grab a forgotten bottle of shampoo or paper towels at 10:30 at night was now a little easier. And I admit, I did it several times. And did I mention the placed didn't look like a cyclone tore up and down the aisles, which is a common malady of many stores in rapidly growing CalCo? Well, it didn't take long. Though the employees are wickedly cheerful, the store itself has become what the old CalCo Walmart, and the KMart before that have become. A hangout. The parking lot is cruised by restored muscle cars and little Japanese racers owned by the highschoolers. The entrance is clogged with tween skaters, too young to drive but still able to sneak a pack of two of Mom and Dad's smokes, which I swear they try to finish all at the same time at the entrance. Inside, the shelves are almost always bare and it has taken over as the place county singles go to meet. (Sidenote to Bubba: check for the ring before you follow me through electronics, paper goods, hair products and finally, the women's underwear...cuz that was just plain creepy, pal.) All in all, it would have been worth it to continue to drive to Prince Frederick's Walmart, even for the sake of convenience. Store won't honor prices from their own website. I was looking at TV's on Walmart.com, they had a sale on one that I thought I would just go check out at the store and buy it. It rang up full price. I said it's on sale on your website. They told me they don't honor their prices online. That I need to either pay full price or go order it online for pickup to get the sale price and come back when it's ready to be picked up. I was told this is the store managers policy. WTF? For being in a relatively high dollar suburban area, this Walmart is the worst. Selection is seriously lacking and the shelves never seem to be restocked. DVD section appears to been stocked by a 4 year old who hasn't learned their ABCs. The floor staff (aside from the little ol' ladies working their butts off in clothing) are nothing but a bunch of lazy asses. They never ask if you need assistance or "finding what you need?". They act like they are in the halls at high school and take off if they see you in their area. You can do much better at the Prince Frederick or Bowie store. The manager of the Dunkirk store obviously doesn't care about his job or the customers. I give the one star to those little old ladies who work their tails off in women's clothing. read more

Today 3/21/17 I decided to run into this Walmart location to grab a few treats for my dog. The check out lines weren't too long but the cashier was extremely rude. I noticed the customer before me was greeted by the cashier however when it was my turn to be rung up she refused to speak to me or make eye contact, even after me speaking. After I grabbed my bags I exited the store slowly to see her interaction with the next customer and this time she spoke to the customer and was holding a conversation. I was in shock to have been treated so poorly. I elected to not wait in the long customer service line to speak with a manager but I won't be going back there, I'd rather spend my money where I'm respected and treated equally. read more

My favorite store in the neighborhood. Of all the stores that I have bought, this is the cleanest and most organized.

I purchased a step stool on Walmart.com at 5:30pm on Wednesday evening and selected store pickup, I was supposed to recieve an email stating it was ready to be picked up. I needed this item for my job starting at 8am the following morning, I wasn't worried because I was sure I would be able to pick up my purchase in plenty of time given that the store didn't close until 11pm. I received no email by the time the store closed but I figured I would surely be able to pick it up first thing the next morning when they opened at 7am. I walked in the store at 7am Thursday morning and was told by the "customer service" rep that they didn't start pick up's until 8am, to which I asked if I could just show her my receipt on my phone and grab the item off of the shelf 100 feet away since I had to be at work at 8am, which is why I ordered the previous day. She told me the only thing I could do was purchase the item at the register and cancel my online order... So I had to purchase the stool AGAIN, using all the cash I had on me so I could get to work on time. I cancelled the order but the purchase had already gone through on my debit card, so now I have to wait multiple days to be reimbursed... Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Being a newly opened Super Wal-Mart, I was curious to visit. I usually end up leaving any store with much more than I intended to purchase. However, my visit to this particular store, I ended up leaving with nothing, as they didn't carry one thing one my list. No mini-blinds or window shades, no thread or sewing needles. This has to be the worst "Walmart" I have ever been to. Some of the staff is nice, but I've come across some really rude employees as well. The store is super small, and you have a hard time getting around to different aisles because of how small every aisle is. Also, never rely on this store to get something you need. This is the only Walmart I've been to where they are literally out of bread, soda, milk, etc., I recommend driving a bit farther to the Prince Frederick walmart which has a way better selection. Also the entertainment aisle has to be a joke? They NEVER have the CD's out when they are suppose to be, if you ask someone about a new release that should be out they won't go back and get it for you. The same goes for movies which they put out more than they do the CD's, but still this store is a joke. Came to this Walmart for a Black Friday sale. I came to this Walmart to purchase a 70 inch Visio TV. I bought a Visio 70 inch TV to get home and for the screen to be shattered entirely and then came back to get a second television to replace the first broken one. Got back home and that TV was also shattered. On my second return the store manager Andre stated that I was the only customer to bring back the TV that had a shattered screen. The store manager Andre could not do anything for me nor offered me any compensation for my wasted time. So I'm guessing that Walmart policy is that if you purchase something and is broken is 9 times out of 10 your fault and not the shipping nor handling of anyone that works for Walmart. The customer service that was given by the managers here at this Dunkirk Walmart has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced from any store. Please beware of the merchandise that you purchased from this Walmart because of the customer service that you will receive if you have to return any defective item will be something for you to remember for your future purchases.y read more

I have my good days and bad days with this Walmart. It's definitely on the cleaner and friendlier side of the Walmart spectrum, but the limited selection can be annoying. Even discounting the lack of auto and garden centers, the shelves tend to be stocked with fewer brands/varieties of various products than other Walmarts I'm used to. read more

Went shopping at this Walmart on Thanksgiving Day, 11/23/17. The store was well stocked and very well organized. I was impressed with how well staffed the store was. They were very helpful and accommodating when I was trying to locate certain items that was not in the department they were working in. this walmart in Calvert county has nickname SMALL MART! it really is a horrible walmart most of the times the shelves are half empty of food items. if you go to other Walmarts they are constantly stocking the shelves but this store you rarely see anyone stocking shelves. We need a big Box store in Calvert County! WHY DO WE HAVE TO DRIVE 40 MILES to the nearest Supercenter or Costco or Sams Club! they say they were originally going to build a super center but Giant Food and Safeway lobbied to stop them because they knew they couldn't compete with cheaper prices and a larger selection of food! the only time I go to this place is if I want to buy Gallon Jugs of water. they really shoudl expand their GROCERY selection like a Super center and get rid of their Electronics area since no one goes there anyway most of the stuff they carry is garbage read more

It has overall gotten better. They did a complete remodel. They made the aisle smaller, added two extra rows of fridges and even added a fabric center. Before I would have given this place one star, but now I see more food options and total re-do of their layout. read more

A store credit was issued for my returns. Go to use it & card had not been activated. Go back to customer service. They tell me the return had been issued to my bank & will take 30 days to see the money back in my account. Don't buy that answer. 30 days??? Plus, why was I given a store credit card?
