There's so much red tape involved and often the pharmacy is unable to do their job due to situations that are out of their control. Alright Rainbow CVS, you're on the list. I have frequented this place enough now to know it's worth skipping over to another drugstore unless you have to pop in. They always seem severely understaffed, which creates lines and a havoc if you're in a hurry. Most of the staff is pretty nice though, so that helps balance it out. My latest excursion was for a quick (ha!) propane tank swap as I ran outta gas half way through cooking. I got right in, paid, and the clerk just stared at me. I said, "So now what? Can we go grab a tank?" He said, "In a minute," and went on to help all the other people in line. I was thinking, hmm, I waited and paid, it takes all of one minute tops to swap out the tank, let's just go do it right? Instead we had every cliche in the book in line while I just stood there. A woman adamant that some expired coupon should work, a computer malfunction, on down the line. I was ticked off and they had no urgency whatsoever. Ended up standing there an extra 10+ minutes after paying for no real logical reason. This is in a long line of poor experiences, so I'll hit the South Plaza one that has been much more reliable and would recommend driving right on past this one. read more

I haven't left a Yelp review in a very long time, but today I felt a bit shocked and offended by my experience with this CVS. I have been using CVS to fill my prescription for a controlled substance for about four years now (I thought it had been longer when I spoke to the pharmacist but oh well) and I have been taking the same kind of medicine since I was 10. I am now 29. I have been taking the exact same medicine for over six years now. I have been to the pharmacy hundreds of times in my life. I have never tried to "fill early" like the pharmacist at this location suggested. I fill every 28 days. I fill as early as allowed at any pharmacy. 1) I can keep my pharmacy visits, which can be unpredictable, to a certain day or portion of the week, instead of rotating full 2 days around the week. 2) I don't want to be completely up the creek in case of an emergency. So yes, I stockpile my meds, and in a year's time, I gain about three weeks of back supply. I expect to be alive for another 40 years, btw. This pharmacist told me I was too early to fill. I corrected her and told her that it had been 28 days since my last fill. She cited the date of my last fill, the 28th, apparently not remembering that there are 31 in days in a month, and today was the 25th. Easy mistake. That doesn't sound like 28 days at first glance. So she throws CVS policy at me, and I know CVS' policy, so I reiterate that according to CVS' policy, I can fill my prescription that day. Rather than just getting past her mistake, she doubled down on refusing to fill and said "well you've been filling 2 days early for a long time so you should have a stockpile." That is correct. I do have a stockpile. Now, I can understand being busy. I have an impossible workload myself and stuff that is due *same day* is more important and sometimes a customer calls ahead of their ship date to check on their order. I often don't have time for anything outside of what has to go out the door that same day. But I don't appreciate being talked to like a junkie, which is what this pharmacist did. Based on the location of this pharmacy, I don't doubt that she's had to deal with people who abuse pills and run out early and then complain to the pharmacist that they can't fill a week early or something. I didn't and have never done that. Not even a hint of it. They said they would fill it tomorrow, so I'll have to go back up to that location despite only having a prescription sent there because I would be near that area today. I gave them three stars because they at least seem competent and nice after I tried to diffuse the situation. I don't expect to be given the wrong kind dosage like the last time I filled at CVS before switching to Costco. I'm sure their job is hard and they have a lot of responsibility. But I walked out of there feeling judged and like I had done something wrong or worn the wrong clothes or something that caused such a harsh reaction from the pharmacist. I really don't know. It was still miles better than the last time I filled at a CVS. Idk what it is about CVS but they sure are on a kick of discretion about who to fill "early" (which is really just filling according to their own policy) or who not to. read more

terrible effing customer service. they may as well not have phones because they NEVER answer them! the automated voice machine is sooo annoying and a waste of time, then when you finally get transferred to a pharmacist, you're on hold for damn near 30+ minutes every single time! y'all SUCK! and why did it take over a WEEK to refill my prescription with NO updates either?! no excuse. read more

Wow, so unimpressed. I was sick... I mean, really, really sick to the point that I needed my mommy. My mommy wasn't available so I stopped by there to get some OTC medication and get my butt home to bed. I was in a feverish stupor and couldn't even really focus on even finding the medicine I needed. I stood in the cough/cold aisle for a good 15 minutes struggling and honestly, really needing help and there were several employees that basically stood and watched me like I was a shoplifter and never once even hollered over to me to ask if I needed help or an ambulance. Even if I wasn't giving the impression of near death, if a customer is standing in one aisle, pacing back and forth, wouldn't your instinct be to help them? Isn't that what they are kind of there for? Yes, I could have asked for help, but by that point I was mad and kind of half hoping I would die right there in their aisle. I get to the checkout with my hands full of meds and fluids and before I have a second to even set my things down, the cashier is screaming at me about my CVS card and trying to get me to help her out by buying a candy bar. There are many, many, many CVS and similar stores in KC. I won't ever go back to this one. read more

My first visit there today for my covid vaccine. I was impressed, calm organized atmosphere, very nicely prepared, not big queue, it was going quickly. Checking your name, giving you card, measuring temperature, checking up given data, explaining what they will do, with extra massage of arm before vaccination. They have several chair to comfort clients while waiting 10-15 min after vaccination. This store was clean, shelfs stocked and supplied. People were not bumping to each other. I just had been with husband in other cvs store and it was absolutely opposite ( big queues, in hurry, people bumping to each other everywhere, empty shelfs) i am not judging i know everyone is doing what they can, but with this expectation i was so surprised and relaxed here. And big bonus no sore arm after vaccination :) read more

Horrible. So horrible. On multiple occasions, my prescriptions aren't even on file-- even when a physician has called them in. As an added bonus, the pharmacists and pill counters like to act as if it's your fault they don't have your prescription ready. Also, they don't seem to care about privacy-- I had a tech call out in front of everyone that my "URINARY TRACT INFECTION MEDICINE ISN'T AVAILABLE." Oh, dear. read more

This CVS pharmacy is definitely not up to par with other CVS pharmacies I have been to. I decided to pick up my prescription here because I knew I would be around the KU Med area and this was the closest CVS. I use the CVS online prescription refill system many times so I didn't expect any problems, however, when I got there, a few hours AFTER my pick up time, they tell me that they do not have enough of my drug to fill my prescription and they needed to order more. I would expect the pharmacy to either call me or notify me on their online system, but no. I wasted my time driving down to the area. I do like that they gave me a few days worth, free of charge, and promised me that it would be available the next day. I was just irked about wasting my time and gas. I was on hold for a pharmacist forover 30 min and all i heard was add about beauty clothing etc. They did not fill my MUCH needed Meds as scheduled, nor did they communicate with me like usual. I studied the site and they stated that the best time to get in touch with them was Monday after 3pm. That's when I called. Finally I hung up and called the front desk??? and they answered quickly. As an avid customer of CVS, I was shocked as to how I was recently treated by Roger in their pharmacy department. I was trying to refill a prescription and he was very abrasive. Not only was he rude but he did not understand my prescriptions. He was confused on the medications I take and when I questioned him, he became very aggressive. I hope for CVS' sake that he is not a Pharmacist. I would avoid this location at all costs. read more

This CVS is slightly above average, for me the location is what bumps it up a star. I live on 39th West (near KU Med). This location just happens to be on my way to the laundromat. Convenience is key! The store is clean and the isles are fairly organized. I always prefer CVS to Walgreens as I always get the impression that CVS requires their employees to maintain the store and customer friendliness. The employees at this location have always been helpful and kind from the moment I walk in and the store rarely seems to be busy at all. If you need to pick up something from a local pharmacy and this place is near by I highly recommend it. If nothing else your wait should be relatively short. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CVS TO ANYONE! I have had multiple poor experiences with staff at this location. Any questions I have ever had are written off and I am hardly ever helped. Even when I am helped, the staff is very rude to me. There was also a recent instance I needed to visit a friend that lived close, but no parking was available. I went inside and spoke with the manager to make sure it was absolutely okay that I left my car there overnight, and she assured me it was fine and that I would not be towed. However, the next morning my car was gone and had been towed, costing me $300. When standing outside talking to a friend that was trying to help me out with the situation, one of the staff members taking out the trash saw me and even THREATENED to have the police called on me for trespassing (I was only in the parking lot)! I was in shock, as I had not even said a word to this staff member nor was I causing any type of scene. I normally would not take time out of my day to write such a review, but I feel others have the right to know. AWFUL. read more

I agree with a lot of the other reviewers on here: This CVS pharmacy is not on par with the others around the area. My theory is that they might have to deal with a lot of problems, due to its close proximity to the hospital. The pharmacists are rude and the refill is usually a problem. Recently, I used my online app to refill and I received a notice that I was out of refills. My fault, not theirs, but the app came back to say that my refill was going to take two days. Then, one day later, I found my prescription was moved to the 87th St location. This might not have been their fault, because in their defense, it could have been a problem with the app. Another time I dropped off a prescription and was told it would be refilled in an hour. I never got a text that it was ready, so I waited until two hours after it was supposed to be ready before I came by to get it. I got there 3 hours after dropping it off, and it was not done. This prescription is usually filled in about 20 minutes at every other CVS. Like several others on here, I have often felt uncomfortable with the short and rude behavior of some pharmacist/techs here, so I don't use this CVS pharmacy anymore even though it is the location closest to me. read more

If I could give their pharmacy negative 10 stars, I would. This is the absolute WORST PHARMACY EVER! I've been there three times. The first time, they had my birthdate wrong but managed to get me my meds anyway. The second time, they still had my information wrong AND somehow didn't have my insurance all of a sudden and so charged me 40 dollars for a simple antibiotic- I was too sick to argue. The next time, they had my birthday wrong, still, AND all of a sudden had no insurance information for me, asked me to wait 15 minutes though it was supposed to have been ready 20 minutes ago, took at least 20 minutes to get it, THEN STILL DIDN'T CHARGE ME PROPERLY! No apology, customer service is TERRIBLE and everything about this place is terrible. DON'T COME HERE! read more
