For one, the location this CVS has cannot be beat. One block away from Bourbon and extra bonus that they do not over charge on things. There is also a Walgreens down the block and a Brother's a block around the corner if you can't find what you are looking for here. There are 2 staffed checkout counters and 4 self-checkout stations. On busier days, the line will sometimes drag into the wine aisles, but in general, things move along pretty quick. The pharmacy techs are some of the nicest people ever :) The other staff range anywhere from moderately helpful to grumpy, but hey, it's really not their fault. I'm sure they have seen enough of the Canal-Bourbon Street crowd to last them a lifetime. On evenings, there will usually be a uniformed officer/ security person on patrol. Sometimes homeless people will loiter around the entrance, but I don't think the store can do too much about that either. Living downtown, this has become my one-stop-shop for prescriptions, non-perishables, and just about anything else. This is the second time I've patronized this store to be told that I had to use the self check-out. I find this to be terrible customer service. I prefer communicating with a live person, rather than a machine. I believe in order to provide excellent customer service, a live breathing person can offer assistance. My 80 year old mom would have no clue how to use these machines. Not everyone is computer savvy. I will make sure to NOT use this CVS in the future. I don't blame the employees, I blame the CEO of CVS and greed. The CEO makes the decision to use machines and not people. The CEO has replaced humans with machines. Shame on you!! This CVS is extremely busy but the staff keeps the line moving. The prices at the liquor stores in the area are expensive from what we heard, but the prices are reasonable at this CVS. They have lots of the small bottles of wine that you can just grab and sip on as you explore NOLA. read more

In the words of my high school self, "gosh this places was hella convenient". I am just elated with the number of convenience stores in the New Orleans (downtown & French Quarter area). Seriously though, I just wish there were some closer to other parts, too. They always come to my rescue here. Each time I have walked into a CVS in NOLA, I have found exactly what I needed, ummmmm, pretty much immediately. The aisles are so well let and so organized that it takes me no time at all to find exactly what I need. Need chips, dairy, cosmetics and medication, they've got them! These store is pretty much in areas where there are no other stores, so they are your best bet for you in times of crisis. I was walking around with some friends one evening and I needed a cosmetic item. Cosmetic, you're thinking? Yes, it was definitely a need because I probably would have flipped out, if I did not take care of this problem without the proper tool. Plus I was in and out of that store in less than 5 minutes because I knew exactly where to look and the customer service line had no one in it. So, for that, thank you CVS! read more

Beer, water, and souvenirs are always much cheaper here than all the little shops that line the streets. In expensive, rip-off, touristy places, always go to CVS. This has been my repeated experience in places like NOLA or Vegas. The Abita (a local brand) beers other shops were selling for $12.99 were $9.99 here. They had many of the same souvenirs other shops had at a much lower price. read more

After realizing that I forgot hairspray, I decided to stop in here to get some. I also bought some waters because the ones at our hotel were $3 and that seemed sort of insane. After going through several rows of water bottles, we finally found some cold ones. We got back to the hotel and saw that water had leaked into the bag. It was clean and fantastic if you don't mind paying full price. If you want to get the deals in the CVS ad with no drama, pick another CVS. My biggest bone to pick was that they didn't have any of the sale prices advertised in CVS ads posted in the store. I had to ask a clerk for one of their ads, since they don't have them available in the front of the store like most CVS locations. They were willing to honor sales prices, but had to do a price over-ride for everything I bought since the sales weren't loaded into their system. I had two cashiers help me. The first got frustrated by my 15 item transaction (where each item was on sale), and punted me to the second cashier after we reached the end of my order and some things were still screwed up. The second cashier got frustrated after helping me for around 5 minutes, and just took $10 USD off my order. The issue was that I was entitled to around $5 additional off my order.. and he wasn't willing to help me. I had to call corporate to get the $5 loaded onto my card. I didn't even use a single coupon- goodness knows how that would have gone. Anyways, given the location, I'm guessing they can get away with doing this and most people don't usually complain since they're on vacation. read more

Long wait times. Was told 30 minutes and 1 hour later, still waiting. Got a call saying an issue with my insurance so called back and left on hold for 15 minutes. No one ever picked up. Convenient location on the corner of Canal and Bourbon. The store was clean and organized well. We were able to find many of our souvenirs priced lower than Walgreens and other French Quarter/Market locations. Lots of fun snacks that made for a fun time shopping through the aisles. read more

We're locals who recently found out that because the store is in "the tourist district", they don't automatically honor sales prices when you swipe your rewards card (same applies to the new location on Decatur). You have to bring an ad, show the cashier the sales price, then let them know what sales prices and rewards bucks you should be entitled to...it's kind of like the 21st century version of the speak-easy. Except, as other reviewers have noted, there is a ton of booze readily available. This is a shame because the parish is always harping on residents to "shop locally", inside our parish lines (re:county, for out of staters), to help support the tax base. But price gouging is not part of my budget when there are choices. Clean, spacious, well stocked store, great if you need some emergency items (cheaper than the tourist traps), but if you have access to transportation, go to Walmart on Tchoupitoulas, or the Target, CVS, or Walgreens on the West Bank. All of which also sell tons of booze--this is NOLA, after all. On the plus side, the store is always busy, so chances are that snack you just bought is fresh, and cheaper than the hotel mini-bar. Another choice is to hop on the streetcar at the Canal Street stop and stop at the Rite Aid or Walgreens locations on St Charles. I promise you will save that $2.50 roundtrip fare on one bottle of shampoo alone! read more

This CVS is pretty convenient to get to if you're already walking around the French Quarter. If you plan on picking up any souvenir items like the "Slap Yo Mama" spice, I can tell you it's about $1 cheaper here than the tourist shops around the area. I've come in here a couple times to get cold medicine. Sometimes the meds in the first-aid cabinet at work just won't do the trick. The staff here is always friendly; there is never a line; and the prices are no different from other CVS's or Walgreens, despite being in the heart of CBD/FQ. This location RARELY has anything in stock when it comes to prescription drugs. I feel sorry for the pharmacists. They always look short staffed and very busy. Good luck getting anything other than antibiotics filled, though. Ordering doesn't help either. Half of the time, the drugs do not make it to the store from the regional warehouse. read more

The pharmacy staff is great. I lost my script while here on business and they were very helpful and kind about calling my regular pharmacy back in Idaho to replace my lost meds. They have beer, wine and liquor and some good sales on wine. They have postcards and souvenirs in addition to all the regular CVS type stuff. read more

I want to talk specifically about getting a prescription filled. Has an out-of-town who left a prescription at home... These people are wonderful! I mean it!! Stayed at a nearby hotel, which I won't name because it was a nightmare, so spent a lot of time running in & out of this CVS. It's great for tourists & local workers because they have a little bit of everything, so it can be convenient. It's still CVS, so it's overpriced for about half the store, but it was very valuable for things like cold bottled water in the August heat. I also bought a fleur de lys baseball cap, which was totally tourist & I hadda have it! It was $8, which was fine. I've spent more money on dumber things I've gotten less use out of! read more
