The staff at checkout today did a great job remaining calm and helpful in an exchange that could have been tense and unpleasant, and this positive experience prompted me to review this store. We've been here every now and again for years and have yet to have any negative experience. Staff have always been helpful when we needed them, and this store has comparable inventory and pricing to some other CVS stores we've been to. There are two self checkout kiosks, and parking has not been an issue as they have plenty of spaces in their own lot. read more

Review is based on same day photo printing service One star for quality of photo prints Five stars for courteous clerk One star for the rude Manager on duty at time This is my neighborhood CVS for prescriptions etc. I am a regular customer here and pleased with Pharmacy, products, and staff. However, I had photo prints made there this week. The quality was so poor, they were unacceptable. Blurred, poor color, and weird positioning were evident in the CVS same day photo prints. They were unacceptable. How do I know it was their printing process and not my skills as a photographer? I had the same prints made by Printique Photo this week, and they are outstanding in color and clarity. Their prints look amazing. Their prices were similar for outstanding prints that I will be proud to frame and share with family. I will never use CVS photo printing ever again. The employees are great. It's a well stocked store. BUT I will be going elsewhere. The ridiculous new speed bumps at the entrance make it dangerous to pull in across Balltown Road. I'm surprised no one has been hit yet. It's a heavily traveled road and you often only get a couple car lengths to cross and enter the parking lot. The huge speed bumps mean you have to stop in the middle of Balltown Road's oncoming traffic which risks a broadside. It was a bad solution to a non existent problem. Reconsider please. read more

I've put up with problems other reviews cited cuz this is the closest store to me. At drive thru I told "Glen? Matt?" I had new Rx. He ignored me. I said it again. He walked away. I yelled "can u hear me?" His boss, the pharmacist, took over Turns out my doctors note was not an actual Rx. I thanked her and said I wished Matt/Glenn had said that instead of ignoring me. She said he stopped helping me cuz I yelled at him. I explained I yelled AFTER he ignored me and walked away. Glen's rudeness was not a problem for the pharmacist. She couldn't get rid of me fast enough. There are lots of CVS pharmacies. Please go anywhere else until the rude staff are gone. read more

So far so good. I fired the CVS on State St because they didn't have my meds done on time and made me wait sometimes a couple days for controlled substances. It's as though they are trying to discourage me from being on them. I have MS and needs these meds and need them on time. This newer CVS has been good so far read more

Having now used the pharmacy here, I give them a warm above average rating on that side of the house, with the staff taking time to get some weird insurance issues worked out and having an aura of helpful professionalism. That said, I do wish when they design pharmacies they would work on getting truly private patient consultation areas. While I was discussing the ins and outs of my insurance with one of the pharmacy assistants, I was subjected rather unwillingly to overhearing details of another customer's condition I would much rather not be privy to. Doesn't Miss Manners have any advice for pharmacy architects on "discretion"? As for the rest of the store, it's pretty standard - reasonable prices for things with generic alternatives available, a bit of a mark-up on quick-necessities and non-medical items. There's a big cooler in the back for cool drinks. This is not an alternative for a local newsstand as far as papers and periodicals go, something available in Niskayuna as far as I can tell only down at the Barnes and Noble. I'll give them a slight four-star nod for now on the strength of the pharmacy staff alone. There is a drive-through pharmacy window, which we haven't used. CVS now also has the feature where you can register your cell phone number with them, and they'll auto-text you when a prescription is ready, which is very convenient. Tip: if driving, go into the lot via Balltown, and exit via Van Antwerp, if coming from the south or west; enter via Van Antwerp and exit via Balltown if coming from the east or North (to be able to do only right turns or be able to take advantage of the light). read more

I would give this CVS at 1330 Balltown Road a 0 rating if possible. Just stopped in tonight to grab a couple items, saw a big sign and a huge display of Halloween candy the sign indicated that the candy was 2 bags for 7.00 so I grabbed two bags of the assorted candies. Got to the register and they rang up 24.00. The display had numerous boxes full of these bags of candy under the sign, anyway the cashier asked the manager and he berated me saying that I should know better that they were not that price. He was extremely rude, he should have gone over and looked at his display and apologized that the boxes of the assorted candy were misplaced and it was the store's fault rather than loudly reprimanding me. I told him that he should not have that candy displayed under the signs and he should change it rather than speaking so rudely to a customer. I am going to remove cvs as a provider of my prescriptions after being treated so rudely. I don't usually write scathing reviews but this was ridiculous. read more

TERRIBLE store with atrocious customer service. I got food poisoning and threw up from a protein shake and multiple food bars which were all OUT OF DATE. Some had October and November 2020 expiration dates! In June 2021! Unacceptable! They had all registers closed, having lines use the 2 self check out counters, but the staff were just standing around! They obviously weren't removing past-date food products from the shelves. Very dissatisfied with the store, AND the customer service. Never got a refund from LITERALLY WASTING MY MONEY ON FOOD THAT GOT ME SICK FROM BEING EXPIRED and no one handled it. I am switching to a store not owned by these uncaring people. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. This place makes me sick-literally. SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ACTUALLY WORTH SUPPORTING. Absolutely worst customer service EVER I'm sick as a dog w Covid and have been hung up on 10 TIMES!!!

My 90/92 year old parents needed flu shots and covid boosters so I made appointments. That process was easy. When we arrived there was an issue with insurance (big surprise there). She was asking for some card that my parents couldn't find and then when they finally found them she ended up needing the original cards that I provided in the first place. The pharmacist/tech (not sure what she was because she didn't identify herself) was annoyed with me because I was annoyed with the process. That's fine and deserving. However, my parents had nothing to do with it and yet she was unfriendly, bordering on rude to them as well. She barely spoke to either of them. I just assumed that was her personality. While my parents were waiting to make sure they had no reactions another person sat for a vaccine and she was friendly and chatting it up with them. So, clearly she was just taking out her frustration with me and my elderly parents. read more

I've been using this store since it opened. Prices are average for most things. I use the Caremark card and get coupons on it. The pharmacy has been very helpful when I've had a change in prescriptions and I'm pleased with the drive-thru. read more
