Luckily my GPS did bring me to the back of the building where there is a decent size municipal parking lot. A little area in the front too, but better luck in the back. This review is for the pharmacy only. I stopped coming here years ago and now I remember why. Had to get my son's prescription. He just had surgery. He needed bandaids plus the prescription. I had 2 boxes of bandaids. I have a prescription debit card. Can only use on prescriptions. Asked the cashier if we can do two separate transactions. She looks at me and says "well there are people behind you" really? I had waited myself. If I had a lot of merchandise I would have gone up front. She ended up ringing in the 2 boxes of bandaids. The extra transaction took less than a minute. CVS needs to train their cashiers in pharmacy on customer service skills. I will never come back to this pharmacy. read more

The pharmacy is entirely incompetent. I have had to correct them, on a monthly basis, regarding a medication I have been taking for years. Their service has gone straight down hill in the past 6 months. I have used them for over 20 years, but no longer. I have decided, after I try to fix their latest goof, I'm going to leave them. Was asked to speak louder when giving name of medication I was there to fill, felt really embarrassed to have to shout out the name of the medication. :( Waited for my daughter's medication to be filled and thought I needed to stand in line in order to have them check her name again, lady at cashier waved at me to move out of the way, saying "there's people in line BEHIND YOU". I said "I know, I'm in line too." She said "we already have your prescription and are working on it". I do not write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to caution pharmacy customers to go elsewhere to have your prescriptions filled. The staff is extremely rude and nasty. My husband and I are retired seniors. Today, we walked to the Reading CVS to pick up a prescription. We knew that they closed for lunch, so we hustled and got there at 1:29 according to our cell phone! Woohoo! We were relieved and happy to have gotten there in time. All we needed was for the clerk to grab the bag. It was ready for pick up. Done before 1:30. But the clerk pulled the gate down in our face as we stood in front of her! She said she was taking her lunch break. We were stunned and talked to her through the bars but she just kept saying she was on break and she turned her back on us, leaving us shocked! It was spiteful so nasty. I understand everyone needs a break, but it would have taken a minute to complete the transaction. We had no choice but to walk back home dumbfounded. This CVS is amazing. At commiting fraud. I made an appointment for my elderly father to get his flu shot here after the VA ran out. The technician not only claimed he didn't have an appointment, but that my father wasn't a vet. She couldn't find his name in the VA database. He has a really unique name so that's odd. Really really odd. Ok. So let's try Medicare. She then claimed Medicare doesn't cover the flu shot. It does. I insisted it does. Several people standing around us waiting for their flu shots get in on this and also insist that Medicare covers flu shots. The technician relented and agreed it did and that he was covered. He got the shot and we're good right? Ya it turns out the technician made a claim on my account. That's fraud. read more

The store clerk yelled at our 5 year old autistic son for touching the glass and when my wife tried to explain that he's non-verbal the clerk and store manager yelled at her until she left the store in tears. Truly awful. Will never set foot again read more

We came here for a flu shot. Because we wanted to minimize our time indoors we made an appointment and filled out paperwork online. It still took over ten minutes to process and then we were kept waiting an additional ten minutes to receive the actual shot. While we were waiting two different women over 65 came in for the flu shot (they had called ahead and were told to just come in), waited in line and then were told they were out the over 65 shot and they would have to come back again later. A man who said he had stage 4 cancer left without his medication because he said the waiting areas was too crowded and he didn't feel safe. I understand it is difficult to help people feel safe in the midst of a pandemic but cvs has to do better. If you need a flu shot go elsewhere. read more

Second time I've gotten a notification that my prescription is ready for pick up. Only to arrive and told it has to be review by the pharmacist. So why did the send me a message that it's ready? Doesn't help that last year I had to file a harassment against the male pharmacist since he said women don't know what's good for them. read more

Here I go again..... Another CVS review. While writing this one, I'm going to try and stay focused on the idea that: What would we do if these stores didn't exist? Its very possible to get what you need or want all under one roof somewhere else. But very inconvenient. That's where CVS has me. The Reading store is located in the heart of downtown. It appears that this store has never had an upgrade. They still have the double sliding doors and old carpets. It smelled moldy and just plan old. How inviting..: - ((( I could keep going with what I thought of the store itself. But my review is for the associate who assisted me. Last evening I observed a long line of customers and only 1 associate behind the counter. I will give him credit that he waited patiently on each and every one while they complained yelling at him, had the wrong coupons for items they were purchasing, etc. I noticed he called for back up and no one came to help take over the flow. I worked for this company and am well aware of their practices. They pay their associates the lowest they possibly can. There are no perks and you WORK the shift or else... I only stayed working for CVS because I had to have a second job to help with living expenses... Each and every day I went in I had to motivate myself to just go in - that it's only temporary. So, I saw this guy overloaded and it brought back so much of what I went through. When it was my turn even though I'd been in line for far too long, I was nice and kept my cool. When I got home bI noticed that both the items I purchased were maybe as ancient as the store itself... Are you kidding me! read more

I have seen a enormous improvement in customer care since the addition of a new female pharmacist last year as well as the recent employment of a young Asian associate who is incredible professional, attentive and willing go out of his way to solve customer concerns. My go-to place for deodorant, shampoo, tampons, nail polish, candy bars, all that average stuff. Great seasonal stuff too, always stocked with Halloween candy or cute Easter baskets or Christmas decorations. Two complaints 1. They don't have a public restroom, which is unfortunate because they are right in the center of town and serve the community but can't let you pee in their building 2. I had a question about a medication side effects a little while back and the pharmacist barely seemed like he knew what the medication was for. When I explained the situation he said he never heard of the side effect before, but after when I researched I found it was quite common. First and last time picking up a prescription at the reading cvs. They seemed over worked and confused. I had received two phone calls saying my medicine was there. I stood in line only to be told it was not there and to go to the other counter and they would look into it. Ok I go to the other counter where a very rude girl told me my prescription was there and I should go back to the other line and tell them. I said they told me it is not here and come talk to you. Finally I got her to look for it the whole time she rolled her eyes and acted like it was all my fault. Bought an item for $9.29. Had a coupon for 25% off. Order rung in at 9.29 less 1.72 for the coupon. I asked to see the coupon again in case I miss read it. Told cashier I expected 25% off. She said that the computer handled that. I told her she needed to find a computer that was capable figuring a 25% discount. She immediately reached for a small hand held calculator. Did the math and properly processed my discount. The manner in which she handled this and the easy access of the calculator makes me wonder if CVS is not aware of the situation and has coached personnel in how to handle the error if a customer notices it. I also wonder how many hundreds or thousands of customers have not received the proper discount because they did not pick up on the percentage error. read more

This is a very busy CVS so if you are in a rush it's not the place for you. I plan ahead when getting my prescriptions. However the people at this pharmacy have gone out of their way to get me my prescriptions through any troubles or barriers. They call my insurance company, have given me discount cards when I had to pay out of pocket, and more. I had to get a prescription filled at a different CVS when I was out of town and they couldn't be bothered to provide the type of customer service I get at this Reading location. Have never had a good experience here. Had been using them for several years only because the location is convenient, but today was the last straw. Staff is rude and often confused. Have had nurses from my doctor's office have to call them to help them correctly fill prescriptions. One time they kept her on hold so long, she hung up and just called the insurance company instead to solve the problem herself. Even my healthcare provider finally told me I should change pharmacies! This is the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with. Besides waiting almost 10 minutes at the drop off window and giving the pharmacy 24 hour to fill it I waited over 30 minutes to pick up my prescription. It was filled under another person with a similar name. It took that long to change the label. Obviously the pharmacist did not check name spelling or date of birth!! Careless. Any hospital will fire you for this infraction. While I waited I heard him call an old man waiting longer then me rude twice. The man was quite frustrated and I don't blame him he too had given them a days notice. Each time I go there I say never again. I usually go to Rite Aide on Bolton Street where I am treated politely and my prescriptions are ready in a timely fashion. Once again I say never again to Reading CVS. read more

I have been going to this pharmacy because of the location but every month they are unable to fill my prescription that is on automatic refill because they forget to order it. Every month I am told it is my fault, and then they look at the "action notes" to find out that it has been noted for the last 6 months and then I receive and apologize but still have to wait for them to order my prescription.
