On several occasions they have intentionally "dropped" a winning scratch ticket after scanning it. They will scan the ticket, drop it, and try to give you less money or less tickets for the winning amount. Absolutely horrible. My family and I live in CT now but stopped into Stoneham a few days ago. The store is by the highway so we went in, they are still up to their old tricks.

Don't get into your car while gas is dispensing unless you want to get called out over the intercom by the attendant.
