Medical Center Pharmacy! This seems to be a central, most important one of the CVSs here in town. This is the only one in my knowledge that stays open 24/7. Need a prescription at weird hours of the morning? This place is the one to getcha. One of my favorite things about this CVS vs the Walgreens across the street is that this place has self checkout, where I don't have to wait in line behind someone scrounging for change for cigarettes, like at Walgreens. Heck, CVS doesn't even sell tobacco. This store is fairly dingy and run down. I've certainly been in nicer, better lit, cleaner CVS stores, but this location is primo. It's accessible at a signalized intersection across the street from Walgreens, and caddycorner from the Health Science Center. The clerks are usually pretty aloof here. I haven't ever had to interact with them, since they have the self-checkout kiosks. read more

Ms. Cheryl at the front register was the sweetest, kindest, most patient sweetheart!! I went in there to pick up some photos for my moms birthday, and since I had balloons that needed to be blown up I asked if she could do them there, she said yes hesitantly because not a lot of employees knew how to work the machine. She was patient, caring and understanding. She took her time setting up my mom's birthday balloons and for that I am so so grateful! It took a while because there were some kinks to work out with the machine, but she was sweet, and caring the entire time! Customer service : 10/10 The manager there seems lazy, so did the other employee.(Ms.Cheryl would get a wave of customers/ it would get busy all of a sudden and she'd ask for help/backup, and the manager and the other worker there were SO SLOW to help her out, I didn't like that) But ms.Cheryl, thank you so so much!! god bless you!! read more

As a doctor, I can assure you this pharmacy is one to avoid. My partner called in a script and when I arrived 7 hours later, they told me it was never called in. My partner double checked on his phone the number and the time the call was placed. The pharmacist was mean spirited too. Incompetent and rude. This place literally has nothing going for you. THIS LOCATION IS A COMPLETE DISASTER. I could go on about 10 different reasons to avoid this CVS, but in an effort to waste no more of my time I will just say that 2 out of the 3 times I've filled my prescription here they sent me notification that it was filled and ready to pick up, only to arrive and find out then that it is actually out of stock. And of course you can't ever just call them and confirm with a human before hand, no one answers, you have to leave a message and hope they call you back when you are available to answer. Pharm tech said it might be ready by Monday. They can't transfer this prescription to a different pharmacy, the doctor has to. It is Friday, 4:30 PM, doctor is not available over the weekend, I work Monday morning... so IF it is ready I won't be able to get it until after work... If I was able to have it filled a week in advance to avoid this kind of carelessness on their part I would, but that is not an option for this medication. This is a medication that helps me function normally, so this is needless to say a BIG problem for me. It is completely unacceptable for a pharmacy to make mistakes like this. Attempted to call in prescription at 18:40 on Nov 12, and pharmacist or assistant who answered did not want to take prescription, stating, "Can't you just send it electronically?" I said 'no, was out of office,' and the response was silence. Advised the patient to find another pharmacy. Shameful service. read more

Their automated refill system via phone is by far the stupidest system and obviously has no quality control. It kept going in loops to tell me what Rxs are available for refill, asks if I want to refill, checks the status, tells me it is refillable but never confirms the refills and then goes back to the list of the list Rxs that are available for refill. This loop happened 4x. I tried calling, you do not get a human, you can leave a voicemail but the system did not confirm a voicemail was left, just silence, I hung up after 20 sec. CVS, this is why you are closing stores, your customer service is broken and this is why you've lost customers. I hate that our insurance uses you as the preferred pharmacy. Four out of 5 times, you've made the simple task of refilling a prescription painful. I'm fully capable navigating through these systems, although a huge waste of time. I feel for the elderly or people who are really sick that have to navigate your inadequate system. You suck. Do better, be better. read more

Was at the ER today they called in my prescriptions and they were ready within the HOUR. they are slammed for being In the medical center. I was able to pick up food finally eat in the parking lot and then run in to grab what I needed to go rest the remainder of the day. It helps to have your CVS medication barcode pulled up. This is the only 24-hour CVS pharmacy in the city, which makes sense because it is in the medical center, surrounded by all the hospitals and clinics that comprise the prestigious South Texas Medical Center. I arrived here today to get my flu shot. I really appreciate the ease and service when I only had my state license and not my health insurance card. Okwu, the pharmacist, found my information and set it all up. I waited for a short time while he, and it appears a late arriving employee or maybe early, I can't tell but it was 8:40am, waited on other arriving customers, including one in the drive thru. I like the deli style sandwiches and unique snack items to be found here, such as spinach and kale tortilla chips. You can tell this place serves its medical center public, patient families, UT Health students, hospital staff, etc... They do it well. read more

I would like for the manager by the name of Etienne to be audited and terminated. My OBGYN called in an emergency RX on May 30TH at 2:51PM. I verified with an elder woman it would be available for pickup within a few hours. The manager Etienene stated on the phone he eats period pu*** then continued on with I can not refill the prescription til August 8th of 2023. I stayed excuse me.. what did you just say to me. I advised him I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau seeking termination. The prescription is Estradiol for my women monthly cycle. I was violated as a woman, including my personal rights for HIPPA/ PPI were violated. read more

I saw this sign saying free flu shots so I went and fall in line and waited. When I already got to the cashier they asked me if I have insurance I said I don't that's why I'm availing the free vaccine. Now I have all my info she already transferred me to another guy I think he is the one gonna give me the shit but b4 that he said my total payment should be 40$ I tot at first he was joking but he was not. Now I went to the manager and asked if it's true and she said yes. It's only free if u have insurance and it did say on the sign but I checked the sign yes it was there but the letters were Soo small you barely can see it. Beside they didn't have any on the signs inside there store so at least customers could have read it better and not waste our time. Most people go to a pharmacy becus they don't feel good ... every CVS I have been to I get there n u have to wait to be helped while they are talking a laughing. I have literally been standing in line n hear their personal conversations. Get ur customers in n out. I have been in drive thru looking thru the window watching laughter n I'm not being helped . Always love going to CVS for all my medication needs plus extra, actually a lot of extra. The staff are always helpful whenever you need them. There's a lot of great discounts and extra bucks that I can always use to buy things I need at almost nothing at all if not the cheapest price. read more

The poor pharmacist was all alone. I started in the drive through with only Two cars ahead of me. After 15 minutes of not moving and two more cars boing the line I decided to park and go inside. This line was worse. There were 7 people standing in line. I think the pharmacist did the best he could with out any techs or others to help him. I'm posting this in hopes that CVS corporate looks into fixing this issue. Pay these folks more money or improve hiring incentives for this location. If you attempt to speak to the pharmacist via a phone call it is not going to happen. These people are very understaffed and are constantly packed with people attempting to pick up or drop off their medication. The cashiers are sweethearts though. Please note I've had my prescription sent here for three years so this isn't a rant about one failed phone call attempt. I have experienced this plenty of times and they are better off removing the phone number provided because they never answer. read more

I came in to pick up something and had a 40% off one item coupon. I got my one item, which was vitamins, and went to the self-check out that told me to put my coupon in the slot. Then after I put the coupon in the slot, the self-check out refused my coupon, making it very frustrating. The manager came over right away, got my coupon out and rang me up at the counter and apologized for the inconvenience. It all worked out fine. In response to other's pharmacy reviews, this pharmacy takes a very long time to get a prescription and I used it for year since it is by my house. My insurance no longer is accepted at CVS so I changed to HEB and it is a lot easier to get my prescriptions. They have so many people waiting and never enough people filling the prescriptions. read more

I go here all the time late at night either getting a few things that missed or whatever my girlfriend needs and wants. So I come here! I absolutely love it here and it's pretty convenient that they are open. It's awesome because I get off late and Walmart and Heb are closed. When we call the doctor they verify and confirm the prescription was submitted. Reading all these reviews shows we aren't the only ones that go through this. Every single time I've come here for my Rx, the pharmacy texts me + tells me that my Rx is ready, but when I get there, they tell me they have not filled it. To make matters worse, I don't think they've ever answered my call, so there's no way to double check or talk to someone in the store. The wait is always outrageous, and they are wildly unreliable. I had been reluctant to rate this location because in the past I had been so disappointed with the customer service. The day before yesterday I went to pick up some prescriptions at the drive thru. The attendant advised me to come inside due to the complexity of my order. I advised him that I had injured my knee. He offered to take care of the situation on his end if I could return to the drive thru in about half an hour. He went out of his way to help me and had a very polite and helpful demeanor. His name is Joseph and CVS is lucky to have such an employee. These are the type of people you need to be recruiting. Ali or Abigail whom is a manager at the medical and wurzbach location in San Antonio, TX really has no business working for a health industry company. I went in to buy a covid-19 test. When I approached, I saw see was blowing her nose. I made no issues thinking she would have the mindful sense to sanitize her hands after doing so. She didn't. After i pointed this out, she apparently feeling and deciding she wasn't going to help me, proceeded to get the some extra paper, grab the next box, and it to me and say I could check myself out and point to the self-serve register. If that's how she handles her person, I have ZERO trust that machine is ever cleaned. How it is after 3 yrs of dealing with covid-19 that people especially managers of a pharmacy store aren't mindful of little things like this. Had she been oh I'm sorry, sanitized and then helped me I would be giving praise because I know being Frontline is hard as I am too. But when you don't have simple decency, courtesy, or dare I say simple respect for self and others, you've no business being in this kind of business.... much less a manager of one. read more

Kendrick, the manager, is a problem. I just witnessed a video of him harassing my friend who came in with a VALID receipt to return some items. He said he was "hesitant" to accept her return even though she had a valid receipt because he believed she may have stolen the items. It's ridiculous to have one employee behind the counter here for such an extremely busy pharmacy. Being in the medical center location, you would think that CVS takes that into account and realize that customers are leaving hospitals/clinics around here and want their prescriptions filled asap. Just blows my mind that this poor pharmacist is working alone to take care of inside customers, drive thru customers and the nonstop phone calls. I heard him requesting "Assistance in the pharmacy" on the store intercom, but no one ever came to assist him! So sad!!! CVS needs to hire more employees for the evening shifts, at least have the one pharmacist and a pharmacy tech. Since the photo center at the Walgreens across the street was under maintenance, I headed over to CVS. I should've just come here in the first place! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was promptly seen at the mini photo area in the corner. The services seem more limited than Walgreens, but all I needed was a passport photo. I was in and out of the store in less than 5 minutes with 2 photos in hand. Next stop, the post office conveniently located next door! Definitely stop by this CVS for your passport photo needs! read more

Expect to wait at least 30 minutes to pick up a prescription in the store and 45 in line at the drive up if there is more than 2 cars in line. There are piles of bagged prescriptions everywhere and the techs have to search to find anything. I'm not sure I've seen a more poorly run pharmacy. read more

I love this CVS. I visit quite frequently since I work in the Medical Center area. They're always around if I ever need anything which is a huge help. In the mornings, I frequently visit if I have an emergency and ever need to buy anything. The people I have dealt with in the mornings are so friendly. Plus they have a self-check-out if you don't want to interact with anyone ;) This particular store is extremely well-organized and taken care of, you can tell. You're always greeted when you walk inside which is a bonus! I used to use this pharmacy, but started to get really irritated with the service so I stopped going and refused to go back, that was a few years ago so I have no idea what it's like now! read more

If they tell you that they will send back a prescription back in eight days, they will send it earlier than that. It doesn't do any good to call and let them know you're out of town. They will still send it back early anyway. The only reason I didn't give them one star is because they are open twenty-four hours which is very convenient. read more
