I've had mostly good experiences here since I recently started using this pharmacy, but I ran into a frustrating issue with their automated phone system. Like many large companies, CVS appears to rely heavily on automated voice systems instead of having a person answer the phone. Unfortunately, these systems don't always seem ready for real-world use. On Tuesday, March 10, I called and used the automated system to refill a prescription. The system confirmed that the refill would be processed. I was a little hesitant to rely on the automated system alone--and now I understand why. I wasn't able to pick up the prescription on Wednesday, so on Thursday, March 12, I called at 9:12 a.m. to make sure it was ready. No one answered the phone, so I left a message. At 9:18 a.m., someone from the pharmacy called me back and confirmed that the prescription would be ready later that day. However, when I arrived around 4:30 p.m., the pharmacist told me there was no record of the prescription request at all. They also said they had no idea who from the pharmacy might have called me earlier in the morning and could not find any note or record in their system. It was essentially as if the previous two days of communication had never happened. This was for a heart medication. After I explained the situation and the time I had set aside after work to pick up the medication, the pharmacist was kind enough to give me two pills (heart medication) to hold me over, which I appreciated. Still, the overall experience was frustrating and made me question the reliability of the system and the coordination between staff. The pharmacist on duty in the afternoon had no information about who had called me earlier, even though the call clearly came from the pharmacy's local number on my caller ID. I hope CVS improves communication between staff and the reliability of the automated refill system. I'd like to continue using this location because it's convenient, but experiences like this make me wonder whether I can depend on them when it comes to something as important as prescription medication. read more

I called this CVS because my doctor mistakenly sent a prescription there, even though I don't use CVS and no longer live near that location. I simply asked if they could transfer the prescription to my Walgreens. The employee told me Walgreens would need to call or fax them, which was fine, so I asked for the fax number. She audibly huffed before giving it to me. Then I asked for the name of the prescription so I could give Walgreens the correct information, and she responded, "You don't know what your doctor gave you?" That was incredibly rude and condescending. Patients are allowed to ask what medication was sent to a pharmacy, especially when they're trying to correct a pharmacy mix-up. I wasn't being difficult or disrespectful -- I was literally just trying to transfer my prescription. As a physician, I now understand what patients go through when they have a difficult pharmacist. This place is deplorable!!!! I found myself stuck outside my car when my fob battery died unexpectedly. I quickly went in to this CVS hoping to be able to find a battery, but looks like they either didn't stock them, or they were unfortunately out of stock during my visit. But I will give the associates points for knowing exactly where to direct me in my quest to get in and out as quickly as possible so to ensure I didn't have to pay even more at my parking lot. The store itself was well laid out and kept clean. The aisles were wide and well organized. Honestly, I would have no problem coming back here for other items should I find myself in the area. This place is really unreliable and the pharmacists which seem to be all female and foreign are very unsure and confused about what they are doing. They say one and do the exact opposite. It's almost like they do not want repeat business but because of their location they keep busy. If you want quality reliable service then this is not the place to go period. Good customer service is not something you will get from the pharmacists that work here. Not sure why it seems so disorganized and unprofessional but thank god there are other places to go to. I still go to this pharmacy because it is in walking distance. The rudest people in the pharmacy are gone and the remaining ones are less rude. However, everyone in the store, especially the pharmacy, seems unhappy to be there, with listless expressions on their faces. There is almost always a smelly hobo or two hanging out in front of the store and there are typically one or two inside as well. The sidewalk and ramp approach to the store are covered with sticky grossness. It would be a lot less depressing to enter if they would pressure wash that gunk off once in a while. Inside the store, the carpet is filthy and a likely pathogen reservoir. A smooth flooring material, even concrete, would be nicer. read more

This particular CVS is GREAT! I have had the best experience with the pharmacy staff, the store manager and the clerks. They have to put up with a lot with the homeless situation we have in Santa Monica, and the manager, staff and pharmacy always go above and beyond to make customers feel safe and taken care of. read more

Absolutely horrible CVS location. Dory who works at the pharmacy has the worst attitude of anyone I have met in my entire life and is incredibly incredibly rude. Even though this CVS is by far the most convenient location for me, I will not be going back, as I have had multiple terrible experiences with Dory each month when I call about my prescription. They do not deserve your business until they train their employees to not be so rude to customers for absolutely no reason. Additionally, Dory marked my prescription as picked-up so that she could bill my insurance, even though I did not pick it up because I needed it filled at another location. The other location informed me they had done this and I had to call her again to reverse the charge. read more

The pharmacist refused to fill my dad's prescription based on her "personal morals" and philosophy about medication, though prescribed by an oncologist and signed off by insurance. He has stage 4 cancer and this is the nearest pharmacy to him. Respectfully, rot in hell. You're making a cancer patient's life even harder based on your uneducated opinion. Are you a doctor? Nope, just inserting your opinion and hindering a human's legitimate medical needs. How dare you. The company and people who work at this location should be ashamed to work with someone like this. I really dread a CVS run, especially in downtown Santa Monica. But despite my low expectations of a routine run to pick up my medication and other items, I had four really nice customer service interactions. The pharmacist who helped me went above and beyond, and every employee was kind, helpful, and right on top of helping me get the locked up deodorant. It's not easy being so generous with people, and I'm really grateful for small acts- thanks CVS Wilshire Santa Monica! You made running errands really pleasant! read more

Anyone who wants to get a prescription filled at the CVS on 500 Wilshire Blvd - I urge you - DO NOT GO THERE. This pharmacy has the un-friendliest, unprofessional, and un-helpful pharmacists and staff. After visiting my local urgent care one evening, I came to this pharmacy at the end of the day. The staff at the pharmacy said my prescription wasn't ready, and when I asked what to do the person responded "I don't know." I then waited in line at the drop off window, and the next staff person told me it was the end of the day and they did not have time to refill my prescription. All of this is happening while I'm in very uncomfortable pain. I return to the pharmacy the next morning when it opened to find out their system is down. They said they couldn't help me and I should call my doctor to send the prescription to another pharmacy. I am appalled by the idiocrasy and lack of care this pharmacy provides to its patrons. It is a shame people are met with the lowest standard of care here. read more

This is actually my favorite pharmacy compared to all the other big store pharmacies in the area. The staff is efficient and quite friendly, there is never a long line and the line moves pretty fast. I get notifications regarding my refills, updates on vaccinations and so on. The pharmacist Dorit is extremely knowledgeable and every time I have questions she patiently spends time to reslolve my issue and answer my questions. read more

Can the this store get any worse? Yes! Was treated so rudely by pharmacist, Tonaz tonight. She's been working 3 months. She violated my patient privacy by shouting out my prescriptions, refused to look up my account to see these were routine refills pick up. I received a text my Rx were ready, but Tonaz couldn't find them so I had to wait for her to " count out the pills!" I think they have machines to count pills for many years‼ There were 4-5 people waiting in line for Rx pick up - yet she chose to make the wait even longer by ringing up a dozen different bottles of wine, paper towels and other store merchandise instead of sending customers to the Store Cashiers where there was no line. She did call for help - to ring up store merchandise, not prescriptions pick ups! Whenever I asked to pay for a single non prescription item such as allergy or eye drops, I have always been been told by the pharmacist that nothing but prescriptions can be sold in the pharmacy. I believe this is a good store policy to facilitate Rx pick ups and keep long lines to a minimum. But Tonaz does not follow any pharmacy rules such as patient confidentiality or CVS Corporate policy. But TANAZ was so gracious SHE GAVE ME HER PERMISSION to contact CVS Corporate to let them know of my displeasure and get most unprofessional conduct. I thanked her for her permission. Do I need her permission? Nope - it will be the first call I make in the morning‼‍ PS I will not be returning to this pharmacy. Enough is enough. read more

At this facility, my doctor can't fax or give written prescriptions AND when you get here they tell you the wrong information to digitally send it in. It would be one thing if they just made a mistake but then they treat you like crap. In particular a young white man, who makes you feel like you don't matter because you didn't follow the rules even though they gave you the wrong phone number when you got here the first time. I am a 50-year-old white woman so I can only imagine what other people deal with here. When I got here, they said they did not have my prescription so I asked where do I send it to and they gave me the wrong number. I come back an hour later with two little kids. Everybody is sick and they still don't have it. Again, The treatment is very poor. There's no understanding or how can I help you. read more

This CVS is a mess. Made an appointment for a covid test for travel and the lady was super rude when I literally just tried to ask a question (the written instructions written on a poster were kind of confusing. Mind you, I've taken many covid tests at CVS drive throughs at other locations and it's been great). But here, the process was super unorganized and she had me waiting while she took other people who came after me. I decided to just cancel and go elsewhere. Went to a local clinic down the street that takes same day appointments and insurance -- the experience was night and day. People were friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and it was so easy and organized. I've been a fan of CVS, especially with their roll out of the vaccine. But this location is super disappointing. read more

I see like dozens of people waiting outside complaining and leaving because they're not opening up when they're supposed to. DO BETTER OPEN AT THE TIME YOU SAY YOU OPEN !!!! Was in line to purchase an item Sunday Jan 16th approximately 5:15pm. At the register was an obviously homeless woman due to the shopping cart she had filled with trash, belongings and bags. She dug deep into her buttocks region and pulled out her "wallet" which she placed on the counter to go through it and pay. The cashier did nothing and noone in line said anything. I don't go to Santa Monica, so I was confused as to is this how stores operate in Santa Monica due to rampant homelessness? I don't even know if the cashier paid attention to wipe down the counter... May I add, her unsanitary action was directly in front of the candy and gum... I was nauseated.... Regardless, I decided to take my business to the Chevron across the street to purchase my gum item...... DISGUSTING and won't ever return..... Be aware when in this CVS..... read more

Coming to this CVS is asking to be ignored. As the only person in sight I stood patiently for 20min to be acknowledged as three pharmacists actively avoided eye contact. My dentist tried calling in a prescription 4x. The pharmacist said they thought the dentist was a prank caller and hung up on them each time so they didn't have the meds ready. I had to call the dentist, put my cell phone on speaker, and hand it to the pharmacist who walked to the back with my phone and yelled at my dentists receptionist until they came to terms and accepted the prescription. It still took another 25min to get the prescription filled. Amazing. read more

*They sell alcohol here!* We were on a girl's trip and needed some wine/munchies for our hotel rooms so popped into this CVS to see what they had. Yay! They had all the things that we wanted. White Claws for our bus ride to Malibu Farms, a good variety of wine that was decently priced, champagne, canned wines, meat and cheese packets, hummus, pretzels, popcorn, bananas, chocolate, etc. I was SO impressed by their selection. We got everything that we needed for an amazing bachelorette weekend! The only reason for the docked star is that the checkout counter was super slow. We waited in a pretty long line! I hate to call to this pharmacy! They never answer! And sometimes I need personal assistance but nobody pick up that phone. Why?

I was told last nite that they would be restocking cleaning supplies, wipes etc tomorrow morning when they open. I arrived at 9 and nothing had been unloaded or restocked. I was so angry that they refused to unload the boxes. Then we were told to come back at 4pm!!! Elderly and immune compromised ppl ARENT SUPPOSED TO GO OUTSIDE. Zero accountability. Walgreens on wilshire re-stocked right at 9am and by 930 everything was gone. Their staff was friendly and very understanding. CVS IS A SHAM. read more

Cvs on wilsue was not that great. No on to help you was no one at the register in the south side where I entered I found they had another register on the north of the building on the south they had those crummy self checkbout but I don't like those we union people like to see the person that's helping me. CVS pharmacy has the absolutely worst method of contacting them. You hope to call a store but end up speaking to people who speak English as a second language and most are extremely incompetent . When I call there is a medical reason and requires someone from this country who understands the importance of us being helped. Forget about it with CVS. They want your money but give us little in return. Qualified personnel should answering our calls but it seems they are reading from a manual printed with answers to give you. Leave this company where it belongs "in a third world nation" try a better organization that cares. Im going to try Walgreens . Am very happy with the Pharmacy. They are friendly, professional and the wait times are very short. (I am able to go at off times.) The other staff are far and few between, but are very helpful as soon as you find one. Short staffing is the new normal. I take a breath and adjust my expectations. read more

The store is Ok. The pharmacy is TERRIBLE ! specially the pharmacists that work there. Two examples: 1) I came in for a shingles vaccine on a Friday afternoon. The pharmacist told me she was working by herself. She told me to come back another day !? No appointment needed, if she feels like working she will apply the vaccine, if not tough luck 2) I get insurance authorization for a 60 day supply of medication because I am leaving on vacation. The pharmacist (a different one) says No I can only get 30 days. After much insisting he deings to look closely at his computer, finally sees he was wrong. Do you think he would say I'm sorry or anything close. Just a grudging I will do it as if he is doing a huge favor. Take your business elsewhere, I will. read more

This is the worst CVS location I've ever been to in LA. The pharmacist didn't have my prescription information despite the fact that my doctor had sent it hours ago and then proceeded to reprimand me on how she wouldn't refill my birth control because she didn't like the way I was taking it (which is as my doctor instructed I take it). I waited 40 minutes to talk to her only for her to say she wouldn't fill it even if my doctor ordered it and wouldn't even look at me. And the pharmacy tech who works the register is the most absent-minded, unhelpful employee! Safe to say I transferred my prescription to somewhere else. read more
