This Pharmacy is disorganized unprofessional and ridiculous. I've had so many problems with them. I'll need to change pharmacies because these people are horrible. I'm a senior and I was supposed to get important medications that if I don't take I could get sick or worse meaning death. I paid for the medications and I paid for it to be delivered. They keep making excuses real flimsy excuses of why this happened or that happened or they don't return any correspondence. Any mix of this. I've had to call and speak to a social worker regarding elder abuse because I'm not able to get my medications even though I paid for them and also make a police report and I'm going to take it further and I'm talking to an attorney this coming week. Nate promised me that I would get the medications tonight Friday night between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. and didn't. And I didn't get it last night. And there's constant delays. Parmiz the other pharmacist is a narcissistic gaslighter. She hasn't even checked the messages since Tuesday afternoon. She tried to gas light me that I didn't return her correspondence on Tuesday when I did. And I have record of it. Maybe she needs to get off her lazy behind and check the text messages that come in. It's Friday today and she hasn't checked them since Tuesday. Unprofessional narcissistic attitude and lazy a very bad mix. They are just horrible. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Honestly the worst pharmacy experience I've ever had in my life. I don't even know where to start. The staff acts like they are doing you a huge favor just by looking at you. My prescription was supposed to be ready days ago, I called, I went in person, and every single time they had some new excuse. First it was "the doctor didn't send it." Then it was "the insurance is pending." Then it was "we're out of stock." Which one is it?? I had to call my doctor myself just to confirm they had sent it--spoiler: they did. When I asked how long it would take to actually fill it, the pharmacist just shrugged like they didn't care at all. No apology, no explanation, nothing. I literally watched three employees standing around chatting while people in line were waiting 20+ minutes. The vibe is just complete incompetence mixed with rudeness. I honestly don't understand how this place is still in business in a city like Santa Monica. Go literally anywhere else. I'd drive across town before ever stepping foot in here again. read more

What a scary place. The meds I received didn't come with ingredients, the name of the manufacturing pharmaceutical company nor the material of the casing. I have allergies and I called them to ask these questions. They knew nothing! Could not answer one question. CVS has what I think is similar (no information provided from SMC) for $12.00 and SMC charged $88.00. So they don't know their products and charge 8 times more!!! The people there in person are usually pleasant but whoever picks up the phone is almost always incredibly rude. It's also so hard to get a hold of them - the app they use (nimble) is also a pain to use. Would send your prescriptions elsewhere if you don't want the hassle. read more

Dealing with this pharmacy is an ongoing problem. They give conflicting information on every call. I have to remind them of my refills because they lose track of information and they seem to like to make everything difficult. Today was the last straw: I was on a call with SMC trying to get a refill. I have a hearing problem and asked the pharmacist, Ushia, if she could slow down her speech to not speak so fast so I could understand and SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I immediately transferred my prescription to Beverly Hills Apothecary where I get much better service, and they have next day free delivery. Today was past the deadline for next day delivery so Liz at Beverly Hills Apothecary has offered to deliver this personally. That is good customer service. read more

Although I have not visited the physical location, I wanted to leave a review because being a remote customer of SMC Pharmacy to get refills on a dermatologist's prescription has been a great experience. Getting that particular refill would typically cost me around $50 every time, however I am able to get it at no cost with SMC Pharmacy. In addition, they have shipped the refills to me at no cost as well. Love the savings and convenience! The communications/reminders have been clear and timely. Great customer service. read more

Called for a new prescription send by my dermatologist and Joe the one answering the phone was so rude and condescending when I asked him questions regarding my prescription. His attitude was merely we don't need you you need us. People like him have no business interacting with customers. They're totally impossible, but they used to be fast and reiiable.. My husband gets a prescription for homeopathic cream which he's been getting from for years ( a ) they currently rarely pick up the phone and they ignore faxes from the doctor's office, even the doctor's office has problems lately reaching them (b ) a refill was faxed to them 10 days, and my husband can't reach anyone there at the pharmacy, nor can he get the prescription. They're beyond annoying, they don't deserve to be in business with their terrible behavior, they've radically changed from a few years ago. We'll try to them again, and we're actively looking around for another pharmacy that does compounding where he could get this testosterone cream, but avoid this horrible pharmacy.. read more

Most disgusting customer service ever. Clerk/tech answering the phone has the worst attitude, extremely unhelpful. It is a pharmacy at the end of the day, as patients we are dealing with health issues and some grace and proper customer service (at least without an attitude) can go a long way. Will not be using this pharmacy ever again, solely due to the ongoing customer service issue (have been spoken to extremely rudely for the 4th time now). When I went in person, I tried to show the staff member helping me the a short social media post from an independent pharmacy in another state. The pharmacist there talks all about how pharmacy benefit managers "PBMs" drive up costs of drugs and with CVS, put independent pharmacies out of business. Learned a ton from him and it's what made me switch from CVS to them. The staff member rolled his eyes, didn't seem the slightest bit interested, and walked away. Not the warm patient centered care I was hoping for. I'm a polite, concise, and gracious clinician in scrubs. Not exactly a red flag. Was trying to help them see how this channel both educated people and created a ton of business for independent pharmacies. My act of goodwill was met with an eye roll and walking away. It is very rare for me to take precious time to leave a negative review but I am so distraught over how this pharmacy handle the situation at a critical time I feel a responsibility to let people know. My spouse had eye surgery yesterday. We had noticed a steady decline in customer service SMC over the course of the last year, so we switched back to Mail order. The night before the surgery postop medication had not yet arrived, so we the doctors office re-ordered the medication at Walgreens That morning we had an email from Walgreens warning us. Some of the medication's were not in stock. At this point, I'm driving so the pharmacist is looking at his computer trying desperately to find another Walgreens that would have it in stock. By the time we get to the doctor, I explained the situation and I thought well let's just try SMC one more time. I have their number programmed in my phone so I called them. The doctor is next to me to tell them the name of the medication's, they are on speaker. The pharmacist at SMC check the stock, and confirms that they have all the medication's required. Yay! Problem solved! I don't worry about calling Walgreens back. We are in good shape. NOT. After three hour surgery, I can finally get my honey. It is about 2:30 I go get the car so they can discharge him (keep in mind he has been under general anesthesia for three hours. I am his soul caregiver. He cannot be left unattended.) I call SMC to ask them to please have the medication ready as I will have my honey in the car and I need to get him back as quickly as possible. NOW THEY TELL ME the two most important medications are not in stock. In the two preop hours, and three surgery hours that it took from the first call to them, they couldn't find five minutes to reach out to me and let me know that they had made an error and did not have the medication in stock. This could so easily have been not a big deal! They knew he was going in surgery, they talked to the doctor. They knew these were critical medication for him to have after the surgery. And yet... Of course, it is up to you to be the judge as to whether this seems unreasonable to you, but I was infuriated. And scared. I find their behavior completely unethical, Thanks to the way they handled their situation, I wasn't able to get my honey home until past 8 PM. (Yep, had to be chasing after these medication's in the thick of rush-hour, not the narcotics mind you (maybe important to comfort, but not so much to healing) but the medication's to prevent the eye from getting infected, and swelling up which were suppose to be administered ASAP. At this point, you have all the information you need, but for those of you who would like a little more information, here goes. After that, of course, I was quite upset, stunned actually . In all fairness, I did raise my voice, I was in shock wondering why I had not been called. I couldn't believe that one person had checked the inventory and assured, both the Dr and myself that there was plenty of the medication on hand. And then there was not. Please check again. Surely there must be a mistake . I asked to speak to Manager. Whether the guy was irate at me for reacting, or the call conveniently dropped, i can't say. But I can assure you I didn't get a call back to follow up or help in anyway. After I'd had a chance to figure out where to get the medication, i called back to ask to speak to a manager. I think the same guy answered and recognized my voice, but that is speculation. The fact is I was put on hold, and 50 minutes later nobody had come to answer the call. I just hung up. For the last few who would like Still more information, we had left SMC because There were constantly mixup with the refills and the timing of the calls for the refills. But in ways that don't make sense. It was just not worth going out of our way to do business with them anymore. They actually used to be a really great Pharmacy back in the day they delivered for free, even though they have a convenient parking lot they were on top of the medication's, There was personal attention. They looked at the person as a total if there were questions they would call. In a world taken over by big businesses like Amazon and massive chains, my honey and I really prefer to support small businesses, Mom, and Pops stores, which are in danger of extinction. Oh well... ‍ PS: sparing you the photos of what I was looking at, which made the situation so high stress for me. They knew the surgery he was getting. People always say, "Support Local Small Businesses!" I do not live in Santa Monica (SM), but I worked for the City of Santa Monica for a little over 27 years (I've been retired now for 6 years). My bank, doctors, dentist, and attorney are all in SM. I am in SM at least twice a week volunteering at local youth agency. So, I kind of feel like I am a part of the SM community. This afternoon my nineteen-year-old son (born at SM/UCLA Hospital and went to pre & elementary schools in SM) had his wisdom teeth pulled and was given two prescriptions for pain (600mg Ibuprofen & Hydrocodone-Acetamin 5-323 mg). I went to "OUR" pharmacy, the SMC Pharmacy to get them filled. I haven't been to the pharmacy since the pandemic hit. I've been having my monthly medication delivered to my home, in the "Westchester" community of Los Angeles. I walked in and no other patrons were in the store. I greeted the pharmacy clerk and told her that I needed to fill a prescription for my son. I gave her the prescription and she looked at it and rolled her eyes. I asked her if there was a problem, she said, "No, I just need his date of birth!" I was still sensing something was wrong and I mentioned the last prescription I filled for him was for some acne medication. She said that he was in their system and she would be back. She walked behind the larger counter. When she came back and RUDELY said "We can't fill the prescription!" I asked "Why?" She had the audacity to say, "You can go to my own neighborhood to get your son's prescription filled!" I told her that I've been coming to SMC Pharmacy since the owner, Payam, opened the store when he left the CVS at 26th and SM Blvd. I always get our prescriptions filled here. She rolled her eyes again and said, "I'll have the pharmacist talk to you!" She went back behind the big counter and a female in a white lab coat emerged. She told me, "We can't fill the Narco 5 (Hydrocodone-Acetamin 5-323 mg) we only have enough for our REGULAR customers!" I asked her what she was talking about, and that I was a REGULAR customer! I have all of my prescription here, that makes me a REGULAR customer! I told her, "My son was in the car, in pain and you cannot fill his prescription? She again told me that she only had enough for her REGULAR customers. She told me that I could go to CVS or Walgreens! I told her again that I was a REGULAR customer and I wasn't some random drug addict trying to get a fix. I was so upset and left. I did go to the CVS in "MY" neighborhood. This time I made my son get out of the car, with his mouth full of blood and gauze. I asked to see the pharmacist. My son gave her his driver's license, medical insurance card, and the prescription. I asked her if there was going to be a problem with her filling the prescription and told her what happened to me at my REGULAR pharmacy in Santa Monica. Noticing that my son was in a lot pain (even with his face mask on), she very was caring and sympathetic. She said, "Of course we would be able to fill his prescription." She shook her head and said, "You shouldn't have NEVER been treated that way! They should've done that!" I told her that I will be calling back tomorrow morning to cancel my monthly prescriptions! Shame on you, SMC Pharmacy! I will NEVER set foot in your store again! read more

I asked a dermatologist to suggest a lotion for dry skin. He said he would forward a prescription to SMC pharmacy in Santa Monica and that they would mail the product to me. I received an 8 ounce bottle of Ammonium Lactate 12% and was charged about $45. I later learned that the same product is available anywhere, WITHOUT a prescription, for under $10. You do the math. Do you enjoy being ripped off? This was NOT the first time they pulled that stunt. read more

Seriously - This Pharmacy goes beyond the beyond of helping. SMC has been a life saver for me. I suffer from "'Cluster Headaches" - not just Migraines - those are bad headaches - clusters are more like migraines on steroids after a night out with Kanye off his meds (and that's bad... really bad) - I woundn't wish them on my worst enemy) then a you get hit in the head with a bat a dozen or so times then the real pain starts. None the less - most of the drugs - even good Insurance Companies- fight/and refuse to give you the required drugs that'll relieve the pain. However, JP does an amazing job to work with them to get you those drugs where other Pharmacy won't. The rest of the staff and Pharmacist are super nice, helpful and always friendly, & super bright even when they're having a busy day. read more

Usually going to the pharmacy is a notch above a trip to the DMV. But, the beauty is, you don't even have to go because SMC conveniently sends your prescriptions via courier. And, you can set it up so once you're eligible for a refill, they will automatically send them your way without you having to do a thing. The customer service is great, not just for a pharmacy but for any business. Whenever I've called, someone gets on the line within minutes and they've been incredibly friendly and helpful. It was ordered and I got a call and prepaid it last Thursday, it was Monday afternoon I got the text to review them. I assumed that meant my meds were delivered. However when I got home from work there was no delivery. Not sure what I could review. I tried responding to their text, but it says texting is blocked. So I just left a review as they requested. I have been using this pharmacy for progesterone for a couple of years. The dose needs to be taken daily for specific days. I asked the pharmacy to deliver my pills on time in order to follow my medical schedule. They failed to deliver it and kept me holding on the phone while at work for over an hour without any resolution. I missed my medication and had to beg the doctor to send a prescription to another pharmacy in a different city to be delivered the same day since I was traveling. Amazing delivery and remote service! I text with SMC pharmacy... do you need more than that to be convinced? SMC responds to texts and phone inquiries quickly, and have provided excellent service I can't get anywhere else. The pharmacy has fought with my insurance company to make sure I get what I need. I even received a birthday phone call. It pleasantly surprises me to think that this kind of service still exists in 2019. Though I haven't physically visited the pharmacy, their RX delivery service is top-notch, and usually does takes no more than a day or two to deliver. A small pharmacy that always provides me with great service. This is my go-to pharmacy because they are one of the rare places that always have my monthly medication in stock (most all other pharmacies are out of it). What I particularly like most about this place is that it doesn't take long to get your prescription filled. My only gripe is that they are not open on weekends - would be great if they were at least one of the days even if it were 1/2 a day - because it's a little challenging for me making it over here on a weekday. My doctor gave my prescription to SMC because he said they specialize in dermatology medication. My doctor was in Burbank and recommended me to this pharmacy. I went with a delivery of the medicine because why would I want to go all the way to Santa Monica to get it if given the option. I never received my package and I told this to SMC. They told me I had. to talk to USPS. I went through a bunch of phone calls with USPS and obtained a letter that said I'd never received my package. You would think in good faith after getting this letter, SMC would give me a new prescription since this pharmacy was pushed on me. If your doctor gives your prescription to this pharmacy, I would just ask for another one where you can probably get the same medicine and not go through this aggravation. read more
