I've been shopping at this store all summer, and it seems that they have a persistent problem with keeping merchandise in stock. A couple of months ago the store manager was kind enough to me to honor a coupon that had expired because they did not have what I was looking for in stock. That would be a single bar of soap. I came in today to purchase the same soap, and miraculously they had a single bar of soap sitting there on the shelf. I also wanted to get a large orange red bull, and they were completely out of all large red bull energy drinks. Likewise for Halloween candy. With weeks left until Halloween night, there was barely anything in the shelves. I highly doubt that the manager or store staff is to blame for this shortfall. But one would think that if this chain is able to change close to $8 for a pack of Oreo cookies, that they would do a better job keeping merchandise in stock. read more

Tim S review is spot on about this place. It's been like that since I can remember. I literally mourned the loss of the Rite Aid across the street. Used to see a great pharmacist there who is now serving as a congressional representative. lol only in DC! Anyway, all the CVS stores in this area are a hot mess as you can see from their reviews 2 stars or less. CVS obviously doesn't care, they seem to think they have some kind of monopoly or something. Your best bet is to patron the smaller local pharmacies in the area. This store in particular has also always given me the creeps. Dark, trashy and spooky. It wasn't my first choice for 24 hour emergencies, but with the death of Rite-Aid it became the only choice. But they've made some improvements since then that I have to applaud, such as including Apple Pay in their self check-out machines, and keeping stock of high demand items like laundry detergent behind the register. The snack food and ingredients are highway robbery, but I shouldn't give in with the Safeway just down the street unless I'm sick. I will say my experience with the pharmacy itself has been on point. Only have a couple regular medications through there, and the pharmacist hooked me up with a manufacturer's coupon without even me prying. Cut my bill a significant amount, and all I had to do was come in the next day due to her lunch break in a rush hour. Shouldn't forget that it's just other people behind the counter, but I guess sometimes shoppers can forget that in the heat of the moment or need. read more

This review is for pharmacy. One of the people who works there is incompetent. He screws up every order we get there. Once he didn't read the order close enough and gave me info for an entirely different drug. Twice he has had to send orders to other pharmacies because they don't have what I need. When I arrive at the other cvs, they have never received the transfer. I suggest going to another pharmacy, although they are also nasty at the cvs in Georgetown. read more

On a scale of Terrible to Great, I give this CVS location a solid three stars: Adequate. Pros: Easy enough street parking (although paid), multiple self check-outs, friendly enough service. Con: Shelves are picked over and a bit messy. See--not terrible, but not the best! read more

The head pharmacy lady there has 0 personal skills and is cold and rude. She definitely is miserable but don't put that on your customers.

The most poorly managed CVS I've ever gone to. And I've probably been to 30 different CVS locations, all across the DC area but also in 5 or 6 other states. This one is uniquely bad, and it's not a new issue either. It's been sort of a mess for years. The good news is that the MinuteClinic appears to be pretty separated from the store itself. The clinic has actually been quite good in my experience. And the pharmacy might be okay. But the store is terribly managed. Many of the employees in recent years have been very rude and unhelpful, or just oblivious and incompetent. read more

Visited a doctor at the minute care office on the weekend. He moonlights there from work at Veteran's Affairs. Very nice. Heart is in the right place and was very kind. He was very knowledgeable and patient, not rushed. read more

They have a small rooftop parking lot. You're not supposed to walk off but I've gotten away with it for brief periods. Hard to find parking in this immediate neighborhood, and useful to be able to drive to the drugstore. Other than that, a very average CVS with typical selections. They do have self checkout lanes. read more

I took an exam called Medical Card for DOT at this location, with a nurse in the exam she was completely lost, she didn't know how to do the exam and read all the time in a book what should be done, showing total inexperience, finally she he didn't give me my Medical Card, just a report. I paid for the service and I don't have what I need, now I'm trying to solve my problem and nobody solves anything other than treating me super badly!!! I definitely do not recommend this location!!! read more

A solid CVS. Pharmacists are nice (although not as good as the folks on 2000 L), there usually is not a line, and the store is well kept. +1 star for actually having a parking lot, a serious rarity in DC. -1 star for often not having swedish fish. read more

I went in so I could get cash-back for my post-BreadSoda cab ride home. The place smelled like farts, there was only one cashier with a line of five people and he was a very slow cashier. I bought a Snickers bar and by the taste of it, it had been sitting on that shelf for way way too long. Two stars because it's open twenty-four hours. read more

As Kathleen said, pretty solid. They're rarely out of stuff, but sometimes things can be hard to find due to the big seasonal aisle right in the middle that always throws me off. There are the couple nice cashiers, but most of them are the typical ilk - bored and unconcerned. Pharmacy is ok - most of the time takes less than 5 minutes to get a prescription filled, but sometimes for some reason takes longer. The pharmacists are foreign, which is fine, but sometimes it can be really hard to understand them. They do have a parking lot on the roof (bonus). And it is open 24 hours (bonus). read more

Worst.....CVS......ever. And I work across the street so have almost daily interactions with them. As most of you commented, the elderly woman in the front is a very nice woman. The problem is that she can only tackle one thing at a time which means that there is all too often a horribly long waiting time to get any help. She also gets confused quite easily. The biggest drawback are the self-serve machines. They tend to take much longer than using the regular counter and for some reason, the employees are not allowed to check you out at the counter at all (or at least they refuse to). As a result, I often have to wait in 3 different lines when I go to CVS: first line at the pharmacy to get prescriptions, 2nd line to wait for someone to grab me cigarettes behind the counter (but yet they can't check me out there), 3rd line to wait for the self-check out kiosk, and then I can't even check out without an attendee because of the age-restriction. At other times, when people need help some of the employees just look up and then keep ignoring you. I think they have recently tried to improve this, but waiting time at this CVS is just inordinately long! Bottom line: it is well stocked, etc, but I don't want to have to spend 15min in lines every time I go there. read more

Two and a half stars. No problems with staff, they even remembered to ask for my ExtraCare card. It's nice that they have some self-checkout stations and that they're open 24 hours. Layout's not very intuitive, especially relative to the entrance. Plus when your nail polish and nail polish remover are spread across two open areas and two aisles, I get a little baffled. read more

Gotta love this CVS. Though, it's more expensive than a typical CVS, it's price are on par with any city it might be in. It's also 24 hours which is amazing. This CVS has a huge beauty section, and cares the cheap Wet N Wild style makeup, which is good if you are of eyeliner and don't want to spend 8 dollars on a temporary one, they have it for .99 cents. Large section of candy (so good let ad). Small section of chips (probably good, because they are my weakness but they seem not carry large sized bags of chips, and just the little .99 cents ones) They also had a 90% off section . I got some kind of decorative wood heart for .19 cent, and 3 candles for a 1.90. Not bad at all. That being said, I need to stop spending money I don't have here when I run in for my prescriptions. read more

The CVS in Glover Park is like most other city pharmacy stores. Small but they seem to have most everything I want and need from a pharmacy. The staff is nice and most importantly they have free parking on the roof. Woo hoo! read more

Alright. Much needed update. I like my local CVS. It's always tidy, there's free parking upstairs, open 24 hours, and they usually have everything you need in stock. I like how there's self checkout and usually one person around to assist you with the self-checkout or to take care of things the old school way. Also, there's a minute clinic. What inspired me to update my review? Two things: 1) I used CVS's minute clinic for the first time. I originally tried in Dupont but the wait time was between 75-120 minutes. So I tried mine instead-- 15min. How awesome is that?! You sign up at the kiosk and they tell you everything that you need to know. Easy-peezy process. The physician who attended me was knowledgable and gave stellar recommendations. She said the prescription would be readily available for pick up at the pharmacy in less than 30min. so I didn't have to go anywhere else to get the medicine I needed. Or if I wanted to, I could have selected another location. I walked around to buy some other things and when I went to the pharmacy it was already ready-- in less than 10 minutes! Convenient, quick, and great service. 2) One of the employees greeted me and was very kind. I think his name was Arthur. He caught me on my way to checkout and I think he was going to assist me with my purchase since the cash options were down, but then a couple started asking him questions. I wasn't ready to pay just yet (I was on my way to the cash register but had forgotten one more item) but I like that he was friendly and anticipated my needs. Gotta say. There are still some things I wish they did, like clean up the sketchy staircase. The minute clinic machine screen could definitely use some cleaning too. Thank goodness that hand sanitizer was there. And maybe have two employees work the floor instead of one? (A step up from the zero I previously encountered). Otherwise, a particularly good experience showed that they've improved. read more

There is really nothing special about this CVS, in fact I think the law out may be a bit more inconvenient that any of the others I have been in, BUT the reason I have to review this place it is the first CVS I know of that has the self check outs up front, easing the lines, and allowing me to get my medicines, milk, and what ever else quickly and quietly. Great little pharmacy. I love stopping in and just looking, even if I don't buy anything. They have a good supply of items "as seen on TV" and I love checking on my blood pressure, since I rarely see a doctor. (It's normal, by the way) They have some souvineer-type things, being that I 'am' a tourist. But I do wish they had a better supply of post cards. And at first I was a bit offended at seeing the GW (assmonkey) Bush post card, but then realized, it sure would feel good to buy one and mutilate it. This is one of the more beautiful CVS's of the Washington region. Clean, neat, well-stocked aisles. Open 24 hours. Milk expiration date is not tomorrow. Pharmacy open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. And best of all...soon to be home to a Minute Clinic, an urgent care center where you can get seen fast and without an appointment. Parking on the roof. read more

I usually come to this pharmacy and I have never had a problem. I just did and purchased two items. I pressed zero bags and when I checked the receipt, it charged me the .10 cents. When I went to the person in charge that was on his duty, he said that I pressed two because "why would we charge you?" My response was I don't know that's why I am here. He then very sarcastically "so you want ten cents?" I replied "yes". To me is not about the 10 cents. I can afford it. It is more of the principle of charging me for something I didn't "purchase". This staff member was rude, not friendly, and bad customer service. He handed the money to me and looked away and kept doing his work. I never ever complain about places, but I felt the need to let people know to be on the lookout as some charges are being present on the receipts. Absolutely horrible pharmacist. I needed a one-time favor since it was the weekend and my doctor was unreachable. I went to the CVS at O Street and the pharmacist there is not only bright and explains herself well, but she gave me a one-time pill until Monday [since my medication is something I take everyday]. This is not the first time I've had issues with this CVS at Glover Park. The previous time I went, they made me re-wait in line for another 45 minutes since they messed up filling my prescription. Zero full-fillment when it comes to customer service satisfaction. DO NOT GO TO THIS PHARMACIST. read more

On the plus side they have a parking lot and the pharmacists are generally helpful. On the down side, their front end store staff are incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. They approach your questions concerning where to find OTC items like you are speaking a foreign language or you are stupid. Moreover, they have minimal knowledge about what they keep in stock. Avoid this pharmacy if you can. If a Rexhall or Walgreens was across the street, CVS would be out of business. read more

Had bad cold for a few days. Opted for CVS Minute Clinic in Glover Park instead of emergency room at one of the top rated DC hospital. I made the right decision! Top notched medical attention. Within less than an hour 45, I saw the APRN, RN, David; was diagnosed with bronchitis, had prescriptions filled and on my way home back to my bed. read more

I've never had a good experience here. I've complained to corporate 2 times and it has not gotten better. I've recently transferred all of my prescriptions to the new Rite Aid across the street. Two experiences that stand out include: 1) I was at the CVS on 1403 Wisconsin Avenue NW at 9:20. They were out of my prescription so I asked them to call the closest one that was open and could fill it. The CVS at 2226 Wisconsin said that they had it in stock and could fill it. I get there at 9:45, and the pharmacist says he needs more time to fill it before 10. I told him that he just spoke to the other store and agreed to fill it and that's why I was there. No one else was in the store and there was another person working in the pharmacy with him. I left and went across the street to Rite Aid. The nice pharmacist there filled it in LESS THAN 5 minutes. I've since transferred all of my meds to Rite Aid. 2) CVS billed my insurance for 3 months' worth of my birth control, and only gave me a month's worth. I tried to correct this but they were unhelpful. I ended up paying out of pocket to my insurance company because of their mistake. read more

I have been going to this pharmacy for a very long time and unfortunately it gets worse with time. When I went with a swollen face for which I needed medication they told me they were too busy and I should return the next day!!! Neither protests nor pleas seemed to have any sway on the lady pharmacist who seemed to lack any empathy whatsoever. I went across the street and within 5 minutes I got my medicine from RiteAid but unfortunately for me my insurance would not pay them. read more

I was the second person to check in at the Minute Clinic kiosk. The first person had brought along two children for a flu shot. How long does it take to administer two flu shots? If he is behind the counter I leave the store and come back another day than having to deal with anyone like him who clearly hates his job..They now have added new manager, Barbara Willis who is most helpful - a friendly face for a change. read more

You wont ever find me in this CVS ever again. I have had enough with being talked down to and embarassed. I have a psychotherapy service dog and have been accosted every time I have entered this CVS location over the past year. The employees are severely unhappy and can do nothing more then snarl at you if you ask them anything. My favorite story to tell about this place was when for the 100th visit I was told by the woman working that I couldn't have a dog inside. Who knew that having a service dog would get you treated like a criminal (if you had seen it you would understand what I am talking about!). I explained to her and pointed out her very obvious service vest and the employee countered back "SHE is REALLY a service dog?" SHe then went on unconvinced and asked what for. Let me tell you, I am pretty sure that an investigative interview is against the American Disabilities Act and that calling people liars to their face isn't in the CVS corporate handbook of DO's. But really, what do I know? Let's just say that I will never enter that store every again for any purpose and think it's a shame that a neighborhood as wonderful as Glover Park is stuck with this type of service.
