The customer service in the pharmacy Department of this location is atrocious and needs immediate attention. Doreen should seek further education or alternative employment as she is not fit to lead in her role. Both my girlfriend and I were mistreated just 2 hours after surgery . While commenting on how poor the customer service was, another customer came up to me to inform me that this is a common occurrence and on par with the customer service provided at this location. Gave me wrong medication and denied she didn't and my Doctor made the error. Told my MD and he said they are horrible. Have to use them due to insurance. CHECK YOUR LABELS! read more

This is a reviewed based on the front store only - I have no experience with the pharmacy. The front store is really clean, the cashier was very nice and was obviously watching the front as he faced because he was RIGHT THERE the moment I was ready to check out. The parking is a bit small for the size of current cars, and thank goodness there's a light at the exit otherwise one may never leave. The one thing about the experience that made me sad was the self-checkout machines. I understand they can be seen as a convenience, but I don't want to do to work I'm not getting paid for and self-checkout forces me to do that. I hope they keep their cashiers around, because it was much better experience dealing with a person then fighting with a machine. read more

I have always had excellent service at this pharmacy. I've never had an employee be unfriendly and they're always there to answer any questions I have. My meds are always filled on time and very rarely do I run into an out of stock issue. My only complaint would be trying to speak to a pharmacist over the phone is an utter complete nightmare. CVS makes you jump through every hoop before you can get to the prompt to say "speak with pharmacist." But the overall service you get at the drive thru or counter is worth it. The girl at the counter in the pharmacy wasn't pleasant with customers. Didn't say thank you to anyone picking up a script. As I walked out I said wow she's not pleasant and another staff member heard me. She said what happened and I told her that the girl working at the pharmacy counter isn't friendly, the employee apologized. At least she was friendly. read more

This pharmacy is now staffed with what I believe makes a successful pharmacy. There's a lot of new blood behind the counter, and a couple originals back there. There's a personality for just about every customer there could be, which is nice to have... In case there is a unique situation, and a quirky customer on hand. Two years ago I left a less than pleasant review on the Winsted, CVS Pharmacy. And now, I'd like to give it some redemption. Here's a few experiences I've had in the past year: Doctor did not send a refill to pharmacy before the weekend. My pharmacist must have picked up that I'm fighting a chronic illness that leaves me in lots of pain, and he actually gave me a few doses to get me through the weekend, while we all waited on my doctor with horrible staff. A more recent time, there was a lot of confusion circling around between the pharmacy, my new insurance, and my doctor's office. A year or two ago, the pharmacist would've given no care in the world. A couple of the new pharmacists (sorry, not sure of names), actually persistently hounded my doctors office. It's nice to know you have people who are the middle-man in your efforts to feel better, care! This new group of pharmacists is wonderful. There's a personality for just about any customer, and any quirky situation that may arise at a pharmacy. I love the new staff that takes the time to throw a joke in, or ask you how your day is going. My orders are always on time, now, and when I do have questions, they seem to have the right people on handle to HELP you. read more

Over time and multiple interactions, the Pharmacist and staff have greatly improved their customer service and I am happy to continue utilizing their services in the future. As a fellow employee at a pharmacy I can tell you from personal experience that the team at this store is extremely knowledgeable about their position. As a retort to the other negative comments (which in retail are the only that go noticed) I'd like to point out some things that should be obvious to fellow shoppers that for some reason aren't common knowledge. There are 3 positions in a retail pharmacy setting: Pharmacy Service Associate, Pharmacy Technician, and Pharmacist. They rank in that order as well. The complaint about being "passed down the line of Pharmacists till you get to the one in charge" is a ridiculous assumption. There is only one Pharmacist on staff in most retail stores depending on the volume of the store. The only person who can LEGALLY answer any questions is the Pharmacist and there is a designated area in every store labeled "consultation". It is there that the Pharmacist will discuss health issues related to your medications. Also there is this very interesting misconception where the customer believes that the pharmacist is capable of diagnosing ailments. That is what a doctor is for. A pharmacist's knowledge database is in the bio-availability of drugs and how they work in the body, NOT the ailments that cause the need for these drugs. It is amazing to me how often a pharmacist is asked to diagnose. They can give educated ADVICE based on experience and their understanding of how certain drugs will work for your symptoms based on the information you can give, however many prescribed drugs come from a specific diagnoses from your doctor. That information is hardly ever given to the pharmacist. It seems to me, that when most people go to their respected doctors for diagnosis, and are given a prescription - it is hardly ever discussed what the drug is or for, and since the pharmacy is set up in a customer oriented setting - the patient (who neglected to verify any concerns or questions with the person responsible for diagnosing and prescribing) is then asking the pharmacist why they were prescribed a certain medication. The pharmacist is not privileged to your chart or your medical history only your prescriptive history, and therefore not necessarily the person who is able to help you. That would be - surprise - your doctor. In regards to the flu shot complaint - that should be quite obvious. Once again, within the 3 positions in pharmacy ONLY the pharmacist can deliver vaccinations. They can offer them daily, and will be willing to do so - but only when PHYSICALLY ABLE TO. Retail pharmacy is a time management practice. Prescriptions come into the pharmacy from all areas - phone, fax, electronic transmission. All of which need to be entered, transmitted and resolved with insurance, printed, filled, labeled, and organized in time order according to necessity and seriousness. A coughing asthmatic child should always be prioritized against a middle aged woman wanting her dietary supplement. A man whose insulin has run out do to an increase in dosage after an emergency visit to the hospital should always be prioritized against a man who has a date on Friday and wants his Cialis, and a young boy's pain medication after a car accident should always be prioritized against a FLU SHOT. The pharmacist is the last line in defense in something as serious as medication that can potentially be FATAL to customers, not given the proper judgement and time to verify these meds! Doctors (contrary to popular belief) DO make mistakes, and they make them OFTEN. It is your pharmacy team's job to protect you from these mistakes and from other issues regarding your medication and insurance. There is no pharmacy team I have come in contact with that is more knowledgeable about medications or insurances. I have used this pharmacy locally outside of the one I work for, and from a professional standpoint, as someone who cares for the customers and understands the complexities of retail pharmacy from the inside out - The team at CVS Winsted are phenomenal. Patience and understanding from the customer end should be commonplace in all retail. They are doing all they can to keep you safe and happy. What are you doing for them? read more

The people who work in the pharmacy are rude. The drug company can't figure out that "Connecticare" is not a government insurer, so getting a coupon taken care of is slightly complicated. Nobodies fault but the drug company, but treating the customer like they've ruined your day - not cool. Don't roll your eyes at me. Don't ignore my questions. Don't walk away from me then not come back. Literally - she just walked away when I asked a question and didn't come back. Ever. Don't know where she went but I had to flag down somebody else, go through the whole spiel again before I could get the prescription ordered. The pharmacist was also very unpleasant. Avoid, avoid, avoid. You have to stay on these people like 3 year olds -- if they say your prescription needs to be ordered, it does NOT mean "we will order it for you." It literally just means it needs to be ordered. You need to tell them E.X.A.C.T.L.Y. what you want done and just as importantly, HOW TO DO IT. Learned my lesson on that one. When I followed up two days later, I got "oh, did you want us to go ahead and place that order?" Wow, this is interesting! I didn't know Yelp pulled reviews. I wrote a lengthy screed detailing the horrific customer service here... gone. And now I see a glowing review by someone who feels a need to justify being 'passed down the line' and explaining that not everyone is a pharmacist. Well, here's the review, folks. Does your doctor fax things? Forget it. CVS will blame the doctor's office, but I caught on when a second doctor I use (a specialist) also had faxed refills disappear into a "black hole." What I said above also applies here: If your doctor says he'll fax them and CVS didn't get it, be ready to instruct them to call for it. Have your doctor's office phone number and sit or stand there until they call. Because otherwise, you might as well go back to the doctor's office and get the paper and bring it over to them. I am confident that the faxes are coming through, but being tossed or mis-filed. Who knows what's going on... and if you talk to one of them, you'd better follow up with the exact same person. They make no notes about prescription problems in your computer record. Get their name and start asking for that one person. This brings me to another reason to avoid them. See where other reviewer Brittany says "They are CONSTANTLY screwing up back there?" She's not kidding. I have NEVER been to any pharmacy where I went to get a refill of X and had a refill of Y waiting for me instead. (Sadly, that was not a one-off, it was a regular deal). You must use the automated phone system for refills or ask in person and WAIT. Talking with a rep on the phone means your refill will NOT happen. Do you work late? You can pick up a scrip until 9pm but don't actually try it -- they're pretty burnt and angry after 8:30pm and you WILL get a death glare. While waiting in line once I also overheard one pharmacist ask someone "your doctor didn't go over that with you?" If someone wants to argue for the pharmacist profession and its long educational requirements and say "who will make sure there are no errors?" then I need to actually see them catch some of their own here at this CVS. I have long felt that the occupation of pharmacist is like a telegraph operator -- we have technology that do do a MUCH better job. Computers can flag drugs that interact. Your DOCTOR can explain the action and answer questions. The job COULD be done by a graduate from a 2 year education at a vocational school -- how long does it take to become a Paramedic? (Answer: 2 years) I'd really rather ask a Paramedic about drugs than one of these guys anyway. My point on this last paragraph is that I'd argue they can take way less time in school and focus on some customer service instead. Two pharmacists and about 8 technicians and they Just. Cannot. I have reported this pharmacy to CVS customer service on several occasions. The pharmacists are rude and have made several errors on our prescriptions. Use a different CVS--this is the worst I ever encountered. I have arrived to pick up meds, and they weren't filled. There is one pharmacist there that is impersonal. I always felt that was because he was just very busy. Then again, I'm not looking to go to CVS to socialize. I have always found all the pharmacists helpful at CVS as well as patient. That is the main reason why I go to CVS instead of Beacon, the wait there is just way too long. read more
