Switched from a large chain pharmacy in hopes of finding my "hometown" pharmacy". This is not that!! Make your life easier and stay where you are! A bit of my experience. Double charged for first delivery. Still trying to access their non functioning app because who wants to call there and speak to your unprofessional, impolite staff??!! " "Don't you have the Rx number? Hold on, let me get to a computer" huge sigh. Delivery with an unexpected charge delivered without my knowledge or approval. I like this pharmacy. The girls up front are very nice and very friendly. I've been getting my prescriptions filled here for a few years now. Unfortunately, I'm going to transfer to a different pharmacy because it takes the pharmacist hours to fill the same 4 prescription every single month. I would go home after my dr appointment and give at least 3 hours for them to fill my order and it still wouldn't be ready when I got to the pharmacy. It was inconvenient to go all the way home, sit for 3 hours and then go back out to retrieve my prescriptions only to have them say "it'll be at least an hour" ....Regardless of when I got there....they never worked on my order until I was there asking if it was ready. Great service and knowledgeable , accommodating staff. Matt and Sarah thank you for your expertise. Never knew an abdominal muscle strain could be so painful. After 3 days of binding my injury with an ace bandage , I was still in pain and pretty much cutting off my blood flow. Called Petricones and Matt knew exactly the the type of abdominal/rib compression belt I needed.I'll be sleeping much better tonight and finally feel some relief from the pain. What great service! I picked petricones when rite aid closed, the staff is friendly and helpful When i couldn't find alcohol swabs anywhere.I used them for insulin. Checking blood sugars. I called and asked them to send up with my prescriptions and they did. They have a friendly staff even the drivers are friendly. If i had known this, I would have had their service before this. Rude, condescending, terrible service. My family switched over to petricones a few months ago and at first they were awesome. Now several months later I'm switching back to a different pharmacy based solely on their terrible customer service and bad attitudes. I get a monthly prescription at the same time every month and somehow they alway "have to order it" and I have to go without. My wife went to fill her mental health meds a few days late and there was an issue, their response "it's hard to feel bad when your filling it late". That's the last time I'll be using petricones, they should stick to compression socks if they can't fill their regular monthly prescriptions. It wouldn't have been an issue had the pharmacist showed a modicum of decency instead of being as nasty and condescending as possible. My mother has left petricones crying at the way they treated her in the past and she made the correct call that it isn't worth the struggle to save a few minutes sitting in line. I will never fill another prescription at petricones, they have received the last dollar they will ever get from me. read more

I love the idea of a family run business, but I was extremely disappointed in my most recent experience with them. My husband had surgery on his arm and we chose Petricone's as our Pharmacy to have his prescription filled for his pain medication. We went and dropped off the prescription and told them we wanted to pick it up that night and that we'd be back in about 20 minutes or so. They say perfect and we've on our way. We come back about 25 minutes later only to find out they only had TWO pills in stock. They didn't bother telling us prior, but they sure as heck made sure all the insurance information was up to par. They made sure they were going to get paid, but couldn't take 2 minutes to verify that they had the medication we needed? Now we don't live in Torrington, so this was a major inconvenience... Not to mention the fact that it's a pain medication that my husband really needed. We were told they'd be in around 10am the next morning and that the rest of the prescription would be ready for pick up then. I arrive around 1pm (we had other appointments and such) and the prescription wasn't even ready. It took the girl behind the counter 15 minutes to determine it hadn't been completed. Then an additional 25 minutes for them to actually fill it. They weren't apologetic for their lack of competency. They just didn't seem to care. I will stick to chain pharmacies, they tend to have common medications in stock and crazy enough, if they don't... They let you know so you can attempt to go elsewhere to get the prescription sooner! & You know what? Those chain pharmacies, I like their staff quite a bit better as well. I don't know if it's because I'm younger and can't relate so much to the Petricone family, but they're not all that personable with me, and that made me a bit uncomfortable. In the end, my family will stick to the CVS in Winsted. I like them and they're nice. read more

Petricone's Torrington Pharmacy is a third-generation family-owned pharmacy opened in the years during the Depression. Joe Petricone's grandfather, then his father, also named Joe and now Joe was and are the owners. It's still an old-fashioned pharmacy that most grandparents say existed, yet just as modern as the type opened six months ago. They not only know their customers but they also truly care for their customers. I had the pleasure of telling both Joe and his father about something they never knew about Joe's grandfather that only three people knew. about. I was so poor the city was taking care of me, which meant a $21 weekly voucher to eat 21 meals in a restaurant --$1 a meal, and $10 a month for laundry and "incidentals" and I had to live in a welfare hotel. One Sunday, a woman at the church I attended then asked me if I could get ten dollars together without telling me why but I knew it must be important. It took me a couple of months, but one Sunday I handed her $10. The next day she came to my hotel room, told me she was a pharmacist who worked for Mr. Petricone and handed me two big bottles containing 3,000 aspirin and the other with at least 2,000 multivitamins from Mr. Petricone. I have arthritis and at that point, 15 aspirin a day could keep the pain down enough to keep me moving. After she left, I realized a man I never met cared enough to give me a hand up instead of a handout. I have been 100% disabled since 1984, and every time another inch of my body has been taken by my arthritis and allergies, and other conditions, Petricone's staff not only help with getting the new equipment and meds, but they check in with me to help me through the new changes emotionally. They listen to my cry and laugh with me when I've accepted the change, knowing my body is only going in one direction. Like TV's "Cheers," everybody knows YOUR name, but when I referred someone to Petricone's, she went to the store, and asked for "Mr. Petricone." None of the staff knew who she was talking about. About ten minutes later, after trying to figure out who and where "Mr. Petricone" was, a woman asked, "Do you mean Joey?!!" Not one of his staff had told Joe, their boss, about this little glitch until I saw him sitting in his office doing paperwork. I couldn't resist, and as we laughed, I thought Petricones is old-fashioned and modern and most important, welcoming and caring like the drug stores your grandparents use to tell you about and with Petricone's, in our small city, still can. read more
