Really liked stopping by this store and I hope to again soon. Its clean and has an updated look to it, making it inviting without clashing with the vibe of the community. Staff were friendly and the service is spot on. I wish I could give 4.5 stars since the issues I am having is more of a polish in their offerings and might be too niche for the area? I see a lot of potential in the business as they already offer gluten free options for Pizza and Cauliflower bites for example (hopefully soy free?). I do wish they embraced alternative ingredients, not sure if they do with their deli meats to name one but I would gladly pay a premium for organic and/or locally sourced ingredients across their menu. Additionally it would be great to have vegan options (Cashew cheese please!) when it comes to another cheese topping option for their pizzas. Last item is how they fry their food, I can partake though less frequently their options but it would be healthier to incorporate Sunflower or Safflower oil for example. I have heard other businesses transitioning away from Canola and Vegetable oil for health reasons (again worth the premium). Additionally their smoking point temperatures are higher than that of Canola and Vegetable oil blends, with Safflower being the highest of commonly used oils. I would like to wrap up by saying I don't expect things to change but it would be absolutely wonderful if they did in the details I have mentioned. I also don't want to rock the boat and drive up prices way high but it may be within reason if its just a few cents more? Way to go Ryan in managing your business so well and for being open to feedback about your establishment, I wish you and your staff continued success! read more

Decent store with most of what you would want to find and several items that will surprise you. You can get everything from snacks and happy hour food, dessert, and the makings of a full meal. The people are great and it is pretty easy to snag a few gifts for when you return home. The quality of the items looks to be excellent across the board. This is a very solid, reliable stop if you're staying in the area and don't want to plan ahead or just want a local sampling. Well worth the stop! read more

This is a quick place to stop in for to go food plus they have some tables. There are designated cooks and one or two people running the register. The food was ok, good. The issue was I watched people so had been behind me in one get their food, again and again, while we waited. read more

THIS little cafe/deli my honey and I ran into before our fun date really made our day that much better. The entire little area was full of cafes and bakeries. I got the Maine vibes because of the amazing little view we had from the window of the cafe. All the flowers and cute rustic house second hand seating was such a vibe. My honey and I were dressed like homeless farmers so we might have ruined the esthetic for everyone else lol. As photographed attached you'll see I got the Holly's wild child and the chipotle mayo in it was so good i wiped off the dripping from the paper my sandwich sat on and licked it lol, don't ask me how I still have a bf. and my honey got the Corned beed sandwich, I tried it and it was delish as well! As I said this was a very random place like the majority of what we choose but it was one of those spots I know Ill want to visit again. Excellent service! The staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating, while still adhering to the COVID requirements. The fresh baked goods are delicious! The Deli is open with access to some gift items, candy and food products, but browsing and eating indoors is currently not allowed. I'm sure if you see something you like they will bring it to you. I loved the bamboo Connecticut shaped cutting boards and other bamboo items. We hope to return for lunch and to check out the rest of the store after restrictions are lifted. read more

A very pleasant store with all you maybe for an emergency stock up (and the convenience cost to go along with it). We stopped for sandwiches after farmers marketing, and they have a good selection for breakfast and lunch. The sandwiches were over priced for what was received. My little bit of mayo turned into a slather on both sides of the bread, and the cold chicken cutlet was not what another was expecting (although to be fair, as his sister I've been telling him to ask better questions for over 20 years now, and hopefully the experience will add, "is your chicken cutlet warm or cold" to his repertoire). But they were pretty quick, have indoor and outdoor seating (the dog appreciated the former, as well as the shade of the building). If I lived in Norfolk, I would def sign up for their after hours shopping, that sounds amazing! read more

Stopped in for dinner with a friend who is playing the festival. The store is cool-- it's got an old school, general store vibe. They have a nice selection of everyday products and an even nicer selection of local snacks and toiletries. There's a deli counter and indoor/ outdoor seating, so it's a nice place to sit and converse over a meal. I had the pastrami Reuben, fries and a peanut butter cookie-- delicious!! Hot, fresh and tasty! The fries were stellar and the cookie was just as soft as it looked in the baked goods case. My friends all enjoyed their meals as well. PIZZA!!! I am not one to get nuts over most food offerings, anywhere. I expect good food. If you offer it, you should be able to prepare and serve it properly. The Berk is a country store that has a deli and offers food. I would stack their food operation as one of the best. Quiet, unassuming, very well executed and best of all, VERY GOOD. Their pizza is better than many pizza restaurants. The price is average, the quality superb. Wonderful food, prepared to order. Friendly staff and a responsive ownership. Great place for take-out or eat-in (many tables large and small). Plus a lot of convenience store items (water, milk, eggs, etc.). An extra bonus - locally made products you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.
