I did not see a shower but I also did not ask. They had a clean bathroom. I did not see amenities like hair ties available. Once I got settled in my bike there were staff members coming in to support anyone who needed help. Someone came up to me to welcome me to the studio as it was my first time there and asked if there was anything they could do to help. I appreciate the attentiveness. The ride started and David had lots of energy and a great eclectic playlist. It was already about 100 degrees in Miami when I arrived to the studio and the sets being completed with David I felt I was working out outside. I had a great time. I recommended the studio and his classes to friends.

The instructor (Dana, the schedule did say she was a sub for the class), sounded dehydrated and lacked energy in her instruction, though she fully rode and led a detailed workout. She sounded like she should have been narrating a Pilates classes instead. She kept calling out a girl in the class whose mother had taught her how to be an instructor for the entire class. How do I know about this girl's background? The instructor kept commenting on the girl and her mother and saying how she couldn't believe the girl was already in high school. I heard her say one other girl's name once, then she kept calling out to "the Jacksonville crew" in reference to a few riders who had dropped in from Jacksonville. The instructor also kept line dropping from the songs that were playing, as if she couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment. Like "Don't believe me, just watch" from "Uptown Funk". She was an older instructor, so it came off as her trying to be hip and relevant. Her arms sequence was a little hard but short, like she ran out of time and had to shorten it. The whole class was off putting. I felt completely excluded and unmotivated to have fun and put in a good effort. I had to channel my frustration into giving myself a hard workout. Thank goodness the front desk ladies are kind and helpful and already have shoes ready for your bike spot's cubby when you book a class ahead. They still are not giving out towels to use during the workout nor opening lockers to store belongings with the pandemic, so make sure to bring a towel and put your bag next to your bike. The workout is great for cardio exercise, so I'll return for another instructor who doesn't create such an esoteric atmosphere.

I love that we do weights during class, I love the designated towels, and assigned bikes! They are very comfortable and smooth. Tons of upgrades. Omar is organized and timely, which I think is great for business. My biggest enjoyment is attending 80's and 90's rides as I can push through to my favorite songs! Really makes the workout enjoyable. Where else can you burn 600 calories in 60 minutes??!!!! Impossible anywhere else! What makes class personally special for me is that I'm from California and taking class reminds me of home when we are riding to California scenery.

I was disappointed about it - but finally had another class that fit into my schedule and had another chance to take a class! I signed up for the Southern California Back Row class - essentially everyone is in the same class - front row is the row closest to the instructor (also has bikes that move a little more). Back row is on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th row of bikes - and bikes still have a good range of movement. I really like the bikes further back, but that's my preference. I arrived about 15 minutes prior to class starting to sign paperwork and get setup with my heart rate monitor and get setup on the bike. They also have a set of lockers - you just have to provide them with your ID - they hang on to it and give it back to you when you give them the lock when you leave. When you go into the cycling room, the bikes are pre-set up for you based on your height you provide to them. And you have a few minutes to warm up on the bike prior to class starting. I took class with Omer, and he came in and gave me a brief introduction on the bike prior to class starting, and we had a brief warmup and then got into the workout. It's a little strange at first to feel the bike platform moving - but then you get used to it and it's a great core workout! I burned 1150 calories during my session - probably the most I've ever burned in a cycling class! Throughout the class, you have beautiful scenery and mixes in music videos as well. It's a very fun class, and I recommend it to anyone who loves cycling!

I saw an ad for the Aescape robot massage…read morewhile scrolling Facebook - Aescape places these massage machines in different gyms and spas, so I picked the Equinox in Aventura since it was the closest. Check-in at the main gym front entrance was quick and pleasant , but once I got to the desk in the spa area it took a minute to find anyone to actually help me. Eventually someone showed me to the room and had me change into the little fitted top and bottom they provide. You also take off your shoes and jewelry and put your hair up so the machine arms don't get caught. Everything is computerized [no surprise there] When you lie face-down, there's basically an iPad-esque screen right under you. From this screen you pick your massage style, pressure, focus areas, ambiance music, adjust the table... all of it. Then the machine scans your body to map out your stress points like it's building a strategic plan for your back. FYI -- if you move, even a little, the machine pauses until you're back in position. I chose the full-body massage with extra attention on my shoulders. Each section had phases -- a warm-up, the main massage, and a cooldown. You can skip past any section if you want and adjust pressure at any time. Now, my mind kept flashing to every robot movie I've ever seen but honestly? This was one of the best massages I've had. The machine knew exactly where my shoulder knots were hiding. When I finished, there was nobody at the tiny spa desk again, so I just quietly walked out. Wasn't sure what else to do lol I give the massage itself 5 stars, but took one off because the spa area felt completely unattended both when I walked in and when I walked out. I wasn't even sure if I was supposed to check out with someone or just disappear into the sunset I will say I recall the person who helped me saying it was a relatively new addition to the gym [I think], and I did receive a follow up text asking about my experience. For the price [$19 to $$29] it cant be beat. I'm definitely going back, not just for the cost though but because that massage actually got the knots out of my shoulders!

The drop in…read moreclasses on ClassPass cost fewer credits than a lot of other gyms, so it was easy to decide to try it out. (I think the memberships cost over $200 a month even with new member promotions, so you have to really like the gym and really have the money to spend in order to get yourself a membership.) There is a parking lot behind the gym and a garage across the street where you can park if it's full. The selling point on the workouts here is that you can choose to work upper or lower body in one of the sections, kind of like a choose your own sweaty adventure. You start with a warmup, do the upper or lower body sub workout, do an abs sub workout, then do the workout of the day (WOD). That last part may remind you of Crossfit workouts, and their workouts indeed have Crossfit elements to them. The workout of the day includes a set of cardio with your choice of runs on the treadmill, pull downs on the ski erg, cycling on the assault bike or ergs on the rower. We did box jumps the first time I worked out here, but the trainer always asks you to let them know if you have any injuries or concerns with any of the movements and they can modify for you. I waited to go a couple more times after my first workout because I went through that first one largely annoyed. The trainer spoke Spanish for the majority of the time and lost any pleasantry when she turned to speak to me for corrections or the equipment to use. While a little kudos here and there would be motivating, she had little energy and said nothing encouraging. It felt like a cluster for a moment because there were 10 people (for a 6 AM workout) needing to use the same equipment for the WOD (like the boxes), so we needed to start the round at different sets. The other aspect of the workouts that reminds me of Crossfit is that the rounds can be repetitive, especially because you have to count reps constantly. Each sub workout consists of 3 rounds. The last time I went a few days ago, the trainer (a new one for me) told us to do each set within the sub workout 3 times before moving onto the next set, instead of doing each kind of set once and going through them 3 times. Either way, it's on you to count how many reps you do and and keep track of how many sets and rounds you've done and finish them within the allotted time (usually 10-12 minutes). The trainer leads you through a stretch at the end to cool down. What's great and torturous about the workouts is that they will take an hour from start to stretching finish. While many other studios and workouts promise a certain time like 45 or 50 minutes, I find myself sometimes coming out of the studio earlier than that time frame. You know you'll get the most out of the time you spend at this gym. It's a bonus that they lend towels to use during the workouts, because you will need one!

I waited until 15 minutes after my class was supposed to start and no one came to greet the people waiting on our class to begin, and then I left. Their classes are offered at very low credits on ClassPass for a budget friendly workout. Their main exercise class is PowerRumba, which is a dance cardio class. Honestly, I've never been to that one because I've read reviews that you really should be familiar with the movements going into the class, and there's not much instruction on reviewing the movements. But I've done their Body Sculpt (Erica is awesomely fun and looks amazing), Tabata (my kind of workout) and Dyna-Box classes, and they've been great. There was one Tabata class that wasn't really verbal since the instructor called out some cues in Spanish and otherwise whistled to get people's attention. There can be a lot of whistling in their classes, by the way, which I was reminded when I did the Functional Training Class. Just a note for those who dislike being whistled at. The class was otherwise good with plenty of squats, lunges, chest presses, bicep curls, tricep presses and front raises. It did feel a little repetitive since we did 3 rounds of each set but was challenging enough. The one strange aspect of the attendees of these classes is that some of them just stop moving at times when the instructor is encouraging them to finish the round. Some of the clients are older, so I would understand them needing to pause in between exercises, but I've seen younger girls just stop during the rounds. But if you focus on your own workout, you can get a lot out of coming here!
