Check-in was smooth, and everyone was very friendly. They asked my wife if she wanted to add a 3-lap ride-along with a professional driver for another $59 (regularly $99). We decided to go for it, and this ended up being a good idea. My wife felt the ride-along helped her when it came time to do the actual drive. My wife's driving group went through a 45-minute class to learn the procedures and safety considerations, and then they walked out to the pit area to suit up in preparation for their race. Everything went smoothly, and everyone had a great time. In fact, my wife had so much fun that she's already planning to do it again the next time the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience comes to town. Quick note about the facility: San Antonio Speedway is still in pretty bad shape, having only recently reopened after about 4 years of disuse. But the owners are working hard to get things going again. I expect it will soon be back up to speed.

Pro-grade quarter mile drag strip…read more Visited the track during COVID-19 on a "test and tune" Friday evening. Went right at opening time on a Friday evening at 6:00. Fee is $15 per person to enter and watch (pay as you enter the main gate). To run your car, purchase a "tech card." Tech cards are an additional $20 (pay the guys in the concession type trailer under the grandstands). Then, take your car with the "tech card" to the inspectors to have your car verified for track-worthiness. After the inspection is complete, they'll tell you your category and where to line up. If you're new to drag racing, go early before it gets really crowded late in the evening. The track follows all NHRA safety rules. So familiarize yourself with the basics before going (e.g., you must wear a helmet if your car runs below 14 seconds). After the quarter mile portion of the racetrack, there's a nice long section of roughly another quarter mile to slow down. After your run, go to the very end of the track, and slowly turn left and head back toward the grandstands to pick up your time slip. This track is welcoming to diverse cars. We saw everything from a new Lexus sedan, a Nissan GT-R, a Dodge Hellcat Challlenger, Mustangs, Camaros,, and much more. It's nice to see a wide variety of makes and models. Bathroom facilities: present but cleanliness below average Tips: (1) The parking lot is not a place to show off. Drive slowly and respectfully in the parking lot. (2) Safety and a cool head is a key to a good racing experience. During COVID-19, masks were encouraged but not enforced. This is a different culture and different social mores. So if you're hyper-paranoid, don't visit.

He was putting on a window seal as fast as he could. No help from the lady that seemed her only job was to rip the tickets off as they came out the machine. She sat there and continuously put make up on. No offer to help when they seemed to have lost one of the three tickets that we did. They have nice stands, and an huge parking lot with plenty of space. This may have just seemed that way though because it was practically dead. They shut down at 11:30 on the dot. We were told when we came in between 12-1am so when driving up for last run, it was already shut down. Announcer sounds less enthusiastic than J.J. Da boss on a bad day. He was not loud or able to be heard in stands or parking lot. Will not return. Hands down best 1/4 mile track is in Baytown,TX. Come there to see how shit is done!!!!!!!

The restrooms were overfilled with toilet paper and carp by early after noon on sat, by night fall were 10xs worse and no ambient lighting . All you could see were piles of toilet paper in the darkness. No verity of food vendors , the biggest place selling food (the only place besides the tracks blue shed)sold pulled pork and a bag of chips. Texans dont eat much pulled pork if at all. Worse of all is 90% of the cars didn't make a full pass and many were loaded in trailers by early sat. The cars that did make a full run, ran slow or ran like a bracket car. The track was to "cold" in 65-80 degree temps, or just bad track. These folks really need to step it up if they want fans coming back . Also non of the pretty amenities were available like in their website all was disabled or dismantled . To much money spent and to many people there on a half @$$ ran event. No dig on Funny Car Chaos, they tried as best they could.

You have to wait your turn and they give you helmets to wear. The track has several turns and reminded me of a driving game. He had so much fun. He said he would love to do it again! If you can afford it, try it. I have to say the price was cheaper than a couple other places that offer this type of service in Texas. Everyone I saw leaving looked really happy.

They have a really neat program to teach drivers the techniques for rally driving and it works. Wes and Scott were super and really focused on safety and having fun. Their program is focused on showing you what needs to be done, doing the skills, taking a break to let is soak in, and then doing it again. It's very well structured and by the end of the day they were doing the slalom course with a lot of confidence. As for the team, I didn't meet anyone at Rally Ready that wasn't outgoing, personable, and just plain nice. They love rallying, but are genuinely good people. It's not about pulling people in to stack the house, but about teaching a subject which they are passionate about. Thank you Wes, Scott, Dave and the whole team at Rally Ready for making my son's experience the best ever.

Expect several post time delays as some of the jockeys are just as ornery as the ponies. During one race (that was delayed by almost 30 minutes), there were two horses next to one another who simply could not get along...leading one to actually being in the cage upside down (not even kidding!) and resulted in the original jockey's refusal to ride it. So here came the handler all the way back with horse to talk another jockey into riding. They succeeded...and guess what? That underdog a-hole of a horse ended up winning that race and making a lot of people (well, those who didn't vote for him anyway) fairly upset. Lol! Never seen anything like it! Held a few weekends each season, including during the Gillespie County Fare. Don't miss this if it's going on during a trip to FBurg.
