When I saw how…read moreclose it was going to be to my home I was so excited we were getting an upgrade in our fitness wellness and movement options in the east Bay Area. I originally signed up for membership in July with the club opening in late November of 2025. I will say that this is not my first experience with Pilates, I did just a little under two years of Pilates at the Club Pilates studio in Alameda back in 2018-2020 before everything closed down during the pandemic. After the pandemic I switched to doing mat Pilates at home. So returning back to club Pilates studio after a long break was exciting for me and I'm sure for the local San Leandro residents. I waited until I completed 25 classes at this studio before giving my review as I know with new studios there will be hiccups, and things to smooth out during the first few months. The studio did have level 1 classes for majority of the first 1-2 months with level 1.5 classes too but not just at the 1.5 level as many people were still new still learning level 1 basic forms, etc. I can say that now, level 1.5 classes are definitely feeling like a 1.5 so I would highly encourage new members to start at level 1, & work your way up to 1.5. I think some people have this misunderstanding that Pilates is supposed to be this intense workout where you leave sore and super sweaty. Club Pilates is a classically trained Pilates studio, focusing on the form movement and control of the body & breath. This is not about the intensity of the workout, it's about understanding what correct forms feel like & being able to control that movement correctly. So for my personal fitness routine, I enrolled in the 8 classes per month club Pilates membership and also go weightlifting & swimming to get a full workout vibe. Instructors: Every instructor has a different style of teaching, all great depending on what you are looking to get out of your Pilates session. I've had classes with Emily, she is such a great first impression coming into club Pilates. Her demeanor, level of professionalism, & instructions are very clear, beginner friendly, and that's such a great quality to have when teaching new students who have never touched a reformer or know anything about Pilates. I've only taken 2-3 classes with her in the early morning before I switched my times but she is so sweet & such a great positive energy for the studio. I've had one class with Samantha, she was fun, I enjoyed it and her instruction was also very clear, she even adds cues for getting on/off the reformer, standing up, sitting down, in proper ways so as to not lose flow of mind + body connection. I've had majority of my classes on Tuesday & Thursday with Jessi & Esperanza at a 1.5 level. Jessi is a great instructor, I stuck with level 1 for my first 5 classes before moving up to 1.5 as I knew I needed to remember some of the cues again before moving up. If you wanna be locked in, get your form down right, have a great Pilates session, then this is the class for you. I feel like my money is always well spent after one of her classes, her style in teaching pushes you to stay focused, challenged, and moving forward with minimal distractions. I rather know if I'm not doing something correctly & she does a great job with guiding you in correcting your form. Her style of instruction is honestly a great start to my week to keep me motivated in my personal life. Esperanza class have become a studio fave of mine. Her style of teaching has been fun, we learn at least one new move every class which keeps things challenging and exciting. She creates the space for you to push yourself while giving lots of a great feedback when you're doing the moves correctly which is just as important as giving feedback when your forms needs correction. Her energy is infectious and I can see why the class leaves in such a positive mood after her class. Community wise- all ages mostly women come but I have seen 1-2 men stop in for a class. Everyone has been friendly, kind, & seems to enjoy the classes too. The front staff, receptionist & general manager have been so sweet since opening. They're always able to answer any questions, assist with concerns, or just checking in and chatting. Please be patient with them as they continue to workout any hiccups for this studio. If the studio is not open to answer your questions, I recommend calling or texting the studio phone number. Overall, the studio is very clean (everything is wiped down and sanitized after every class), parking is free & easy to find. After 25 classes at this east bay Pilates studio, I'm happy to say I'll be sticking around for a while.

I've tried…read moreregular gyms, Orangetheory, Club Pilates, and a few yoga studios, but I usually lost motivation after a couple of months. Workroom has been different. I really like their 4/5-week strength blocks where you repeat the same movements before moving on to a new routine. It gives me time to improve my form and more springs as I get stronger. I used to think having a completely different workout every class was better, but I actually like this format more. There's less time spent learning new movements/explaining transitions and more time actually working out. The best part is that I still haven't gotten bored! The instructors know everyone's names, and there's a real sense of community. San Leandro is so lucky to have a community like Workroom around :)

Most are generally clear on instructions and demonstrate when they can/space allows. The classes are small so it can be hard to book ahead, which makes sense since they're new and also pretty much the only studio between Oakland and Fremont. You definitely need to plan ahead! Parking is free in the lot before 1pm.

We all had such a great time they start off with stretches and some light work out things then work on moves and pole etiquette. It was very hard not going to lie, you need upper body strength and good muscles to be able to do it properly. My arms and legs were sore for a while afterwards so definitely a full body work out. I also have MS so it was a little more difficult for me but they had some members there who came prepared with knee pads. But all in all it was a great experience / workout that we all enjoyed. I was diagnosed with heart failure causing parts of my body to swell up and gave me anxiety. To be honest gym membership was the least of my worries. Being a single mom worried and scared about my diagnosis left me putting more important things above all else and i really forgot about the membership. so i'm not going to bash a business for their lack of compassion but since they were selling it online like they cared about your health and well being, at least you can do is comp me for the paid in advance over $1k for a years membership. I'm not asking for a whole year but some sentiments along the line as we can help you with a few months since you weren't physically here in the gym to work out, would have gave me a better impression about the business. they said "you only got two months left so we froze for your future use unfortunately that's all we can do." It was almost like your well it's your fault you forgot when you found out you're dying, no compassion at all. Writing this as a reminder to those who are a bit forgetful.
