I was in Denver for a few days for work and needed a good quick workout. I do a good amount of Soul Cycle in NYC, so most cycle studios don't impress me. From the time I walked in to my 5:30am class (yup I said 5:30AM), I was impressed. Only because my body was still on east coast time was I able to get up. The studio is beautiful and I was greeted by one of the warmest front desk individuals I've ever met. She told me all about the studio and got me signed up. The class was great. The instructor was really good. He has taken Soul Cycle in the past and added a little more "choreography" just for me. Apparently, it's basically a race. I won, whatever that means (something about rpms and blah blah blah). Highly recommended if you're in the area!! And most importantly... the first class was FRREEEEEEE!

Really awesome experience! I worked my butt off!!! The blasting music and the ambience really helps to kinda forget about the pain. My heartbeat was pumping but I was motivated to keep at it. My absolute favorite part is the darkened room like a club. I can imagine that my face isn't tomato red and that my hair is blowing perfectly in the wind. This was a Yelp Eite event for us. I would return, maybe def for the live DJ cycle sessions!

It's hard to hear/understand what the instructor is saying because of the masks. Additionally, because of the masks, it is hard to focus on listening. My neighbor suggested I go at a time when you had to wear masks in the gym but not during the workout. This changed when I went to my class and masks were/are being required during the workout. Towards the end of the class, Courtney, the instructor was on her phone for a few minutes and seemed distracted. The instructor spoke very quickly during the class and it was hard to keep up because the orientation to how everything worked seemed more sales focus than making sure I knew what was happening. They have you fill out a prying questionnaire before the class about "How much money are you willing to spend on your goal?" and other intrusive questions. After the class, I let them know that I wouldn't be interested in signing up for anything while masks are required. It's too distracting for me. During the class, they did imply that being distracted by the masks was an excuse. I asked to be removed from future communication twice already. I just received another pushy text this morning. I'm concerned these people do not have any boundaries. I understand the nature of businesses and sales cycles, but, it seems overpriced and they don't listen.

I find flexibility and strong cardio make me a better "intimate" partner. I think more people should keep this in mind... The class was about forty five minutes and started slowly then moved on to more rigorous routines. It's a very friendly and supportive environment that I really enjoyed. You can stop or slow down anytime you need to. The instructor, a very fit woman, was encouraging but never condescending or aggressive. I left sweating and tired. It was a really good way to start the day. I don't know the cost as my girlfriend either paid for me or used a guest pass of some kind. I ended up texting that phone line and someone texted back that I could come to a free class. I showed up at the agreed upon time, but the instructor hadn't known to expect me. He said few words to me while I signed a liability waiver. I explained that I'd had surgery to reattach my biceps 8 months ago, so I wanted to be careful with that arm. He shrugged and said, "You'll be alright." As the class got going, I didn't know what was going on or what station to go to. He put us in two groups but there were lots of stations all around, so I just floated aimlessly, trying to do the exercises. After class, I walked over to ask him about membership since I still didn't know costs. He ushered me out the door saying, "Get some rest!" So that was that. No follow up. Ummm, okay.

I've tried memberships with regular gyms before, but I would never know quite what to do with the machines or how much of which exercise to do. Koko takes all of the guess-work out of getting in shape. Truly, all you have to do is show up, and they take care of the rest. You complete a strength assessment every 12 workouts so that the chosen weights and exercises stay relevant to help avoid plateaus, creating a completely custom experience for everyone. You don't waste any time moving from machine to machine to perform different exercises because it's all contained in a single machine with a screen that guides you in what to do and how to do it. It's like having my own personal trainer any time of day or night (one that I can get mad at, and it won't be offended). They have small ways of recognizing members when they achieve something special, but these small ways go a LONG way in terms of motivation and gaining a sense of accomplishment. I have only been going for 4 months, but I have taken progress photos, and I can definitely see a change. They also create a custom food plan if you are able to stick to it (I'm kind of a slacker in that area, but I try). If you're like me in that you would rather be told what to do than be responsible for coming up with different workouts for yourself, Koko is where it's at. I can't say enough nice things about Alex, the owner, who has helped me tremendously, as well as Brooke, Gretchen, and Sharon, the Fitcoaches there. I am a believer in their mission and this amazing new approach to getting (and staying) healthy. Thank you, Koko FitClub!
