I used to be able to purchase class packs and then ask for extensions to use up any left over classes. But now I've been given the runaround. I would call to ask for an extension and be told "oh the manager can only do that, she'll call you back." First, that was never an issue in the past, anyone could have given me an extension if I asked. And then of course I haven't heard back from the manager at all. I appreciated the flexibility before and the classes are super fun. It's a huge bummer that flexibility is now gone. There's a lot of other nit picky things about the cyclebar policies that are obvious cash grabs (fees for no-show, fees for cancelations within 24 hrs, and now letting our classes expire). Some of that can be understandable, others are frustrating because what happens if I don't hear back from the manager? Just going to have to be out of some extra money because of an apparent lack of flexibility. But I guess my only solution is to not come back unfortunately. Great workout. If the location was better, I would come here more often. Cycle bar actually got me into recycling. Or at least back to it. The teachers are really motivating and superfit. I love the idea of working together as a class. I was super confused about when to increase and lower my gears. I have a hard time keeping up and knowing what I'm supposed to actually be doing sometimes in these group classes. Especially when it's so fast pace. They have a decent deal on class pass so I came with my friend. It's fun to do with a friend. I probably wouldn't come back on my own. read more

I started coming here after the Sunnyvale location closed. The teachers are so great and supportive and the staff is always friendly. They have 10 pound and 8 pound weight bars in addition to the standard 4 and 6. Wipes for the bikes are readily available. I wish there were showers and a nice water filter (Sunnyvale had a FloWater), but the bathroom is stocked with a few essentials like pads, tampons, and deodorant. I remember Cyclebar used to have free shoe rentals with every class, but it's $4 now. It's a pretty small studio in general. The bikes are very close together and the locker area gets very crowded and awkward. read more

Summary: Cyclebar Downtown San Joseis one of the best studios!! I've been to several different studios, trying different types of work outs, to try and find one that I am motivated to go to consistently. Cyclebar DTSJ is that place! The instructors are encouraging and motivating. Never before did I think 45 minutes of cardio would be enjoyable, yet each class goes by so quickly that it doesn't feel like 45 minutes. Time flies when you're having fun! The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Greeting with a smile as soon as you walk in, even when it's busy. They check in to see if you need help setting up your bike and make sure you're comfortable. I LOVE IT HERE! Back story I did cycling back in 2019 and I didn't know what to expect and push myself way too hard that it was a one and done experience lol!! I attended my first cycle bar in San Jose to rekindle this relationship and from the moment I walked in to when I walked out, you feel SO cared for!! My first day I got a complimentary shoe rental and my name was on the locker rooms and check in and everything was seamless. Anaya helped me from the moment I walked in until I sat on my bike. She is the sweetest! I couldn't get my shoes off the bike but they had said they would help me and such lol. I knew I shouldn't push myself from my first experience so I paced myself and although it seemed everyone around me were pros lol I just loved the energy of the trainer and people. I was focus in the zone to do my best and read my body. This is a great workout esp if you love the environment of good music and company. It just felt right and yes I would totally go back!! Love this studio! Love the music. Love the concept of the indoor cycle with the bar for weights. Similar but different from peloton. They give you the shoes to clip in. You get a towel too. Leaving a bad review because I don't appreciate being conned into buying more passes. At the end of my first class, the lady at the front desk was upselling me in passes, buy 5 get 2 free. I was hesitant because I just moved here and wanted to figure out my work schedule before committing. Which I shared, nonetheless I was convinced and purchased. I noticed that the 2 extra classes were never added to my account, so I went to flag at my next class. The lady admitted that she got the deal wrong and couldn't give me the 2 extra classes. I was like that's fine, just refund me and I'll pay for this class. They can't do refunds. I told them I would not have purchased 5, if there was no incentive. Again the two of them at the front looked at me like that's a me problem, they don't refund. I don't like being conned into buying more. Integrity is huge for me and if I can't get that in a business, they won't be getting my loyalty in return. If I had gotten a call or email the second she realized her error; I would have been okay. Mistakes happen. If I never asked, I would have never been told and that's what makes me unsettled about this issue. It's unfortunate because I took two classes with Kimberly, and she's amazing. She's got a great energy and challenges me. I was planning on building a solid schedule here. I won't be doing so. I haven't decided if I'll do a chargeback or move it to a different location. I'll sit on it for a day and see if driving out a bit further is worth it. Important feedback- don't misrepresent and own up to your own mistakes. read more

I wanted to take a few classes here and try a few different instructors before reviewing because I wanted it to be an honest review. Now after 10 rides I can honestly say this place is great! I had done SoulCycle before and it's very similar however what is better at CycleBar is there are different class types offered. I took Empower, Classic and Strength and Empower is my favorite. This class is more based on resistance added to the bike and I always leave an Empower class drenched in sweat. Most of the instructors are great, Aly is my favorite and I also really enjoyed Mel and Silvia. They each push you and are super encouraging. If you're looking for something to add to your workout routine to switch tbh go up I highly recommend CycleBar! read more

I signed up for a free class. I arrived 6 minutes past the cutoff time for an 8:30 class. There's a sign on the door that says if you arrive past 5 minutes of the class, you can't join. Understandable. The employees at the front desk were very sweet in helping me reschedule to another day. They said to arrive 15-20 minutes early for my rescheduled class so they can help me set up my bike. The only reason I am not giving more stars is because there was no mention of arriving early to set up the bike in the conversations with the salespeople trying to schedule me. No information in the email confirmation either. No mention about the five minute tardy rule. A heads up next time would be appreciated! read more

Due to city delays with permits, this Cyclebar was unable to open until the latter part of 2023. Hence, a prior reviewer was upset with the opening date. Well it was worth the wait! This place is state of the art bikes, shoes and facility. The staff could not have been friendlier or more professional. They also have FREE parking at an attached garage and lots. The spin community of the San Jose area and beyond rejoices and I am happy to report that many of my local favorite instructors have signed up to teach. Right off the Alameda across from Whole Foods. I'm so happy CycleBar came to DTSJ! A close friend of mine is an instructor at a different studio and after seeing how much she enjoys it, I decided to give it a try. I've never been to a cycling class/workout before but this is the place to be!! The instructors are very encouraging and choose a great variety of songs to spin to. Brianna and Bry are my absolute favorite instructors so far. They will push you past "the wall" (as Brianna would say!) but keep you inspired and motivated to keep going. The facility itself is very clean and the front staff are welcoming. If you've been on the fence, give them a try! Woo! A New Studio for cyclebar! The studio is in DTSJ its near the whole foods and has some street parking. I think the studio isnt as big as others but its BRAND NEW. So new shoes, new bikes, everything! It's out of their control but beware of traffic! But they were nice enough to let us in slightly late and even adjust our bikes for us.
