The place is a little run down, beat up, and gritty, just like the gyms I trained at back in the 80s. If you're looking for shiny new equipment and spa vibes, this isn't for you. But if you're serious about training, welcome home. You won't find Planet Fitness types here -- this is a place for hardcore bodybuilders, strength athletes, and a few tough strength ladies who know their way around the iron. Over the decades, they've built up an incredible collection of equipment, giving you multiple ways to hit every muscle from every angle. The cost is very reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the best part? The members feel like family. Whether it's offering training tips, sharing a laugh, or giving you a spot when you're pushing your limits, everyone has your back. If you're not faint of heart and want a gym with soul, history, and community -- join Ultimate Gym.

I have been a member of 2 other local gyms, could not remain a consistent member. December 2025 my wife convinced me to stop-over at Lifetime. Nick Sanders took us on a tour, explained the facilities, costs, etc. I am overwhelmed by the place & concerned I won't fit-in nor learn he equipment. Nick spoke extensively with me about how common this emotion is for both women & men! He counseled me to take 1 step at a time and understand this was an important lifestyle decision. Joined the club & will begin the journey after returning from visiting the grandkids in California, where btw they have a club not far from their home. Wish me luck!

She is currently a high school senior balancing final exams, end-of-year sports commitments, concerts, and other school obligations she has committed to through graduation. Throughout communication with the manager she would be reporting to, she provided the days and times she was available based on her school schedule and activities. However, no specific onboarding or training dates were clearly communicated upfront, such as mandatory dates for the team. After a misunderstanding regarding "next week" versus the week after Memorial Day -- when she actually has days off from school -- she received a message stating that more availability was expected from her. Shortly after, he informed her that he would have to let her go because of this. What was also concerning was the expectation of ongoing text communication during the school day. In New York, students are not permitted to be using their phones during school hours, yet she felt pressured to respond. Students and parents should be aware of this lack of communication and understanding when dealing with high school applicants. Clear onboarding expectations and schedules should be communicated upfront, especially when hiring students who are still actively in school. A little professionalism and respect for academics would have gone a long way here.

COACH CHANDO: 1)…read moreOBSERVANT - In the 2 days (90 minutes combined) I had visited the training center, he seemed to know everything about me just by the way I was training with him. Keep in mind that there are other students in the class, but he notices every detail about his students, the breath we take per move/reps (even with masks on), 2) PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNICATIVE - With his keen observation skills, he's quick to correct posture or can tell if we've trained before (I say he's psychic), he also has the ability to tell how we carry our backpacks/or handbags and if they are heavy or not, he will know based on our posture if we are the type who have sedimentary jobs or not and advises on how to autocorrect form. I do value the fact as we work out, he tells us where we should be feeling the burn and why and which part of the body we are working. 3) FRIENDLY & WARM/INTERPERSONAL SKILLS - he doesn't intimidate and he can easily make quick connections to build rapport and trust so as we are working out, he empowers us with confidence we need to push ourselves. He intuitively knows our personal limit as to when we need to be pushed hard and when we need to slow it down. F45 PLAINVIEW 1) I've been to many gyms and worked out with many trainers, but i do enjoy the F45 concept, 45 minutes your in and your out with a sweat. This is a great concept for those individuals who lack discipline in a gym environment. 2) Days are scheduled based on what the functional exercises and which area of the body you will be working (core, upper, lower, cardio, etc). 3) The camaraderie you gain when you attend. I only attended 2 sessions and the members welcomed me with open arms and thumbs up support in a few of the exercises I failed at. We all have a common objective in mind and its just getting through the 45 minutes is where we bond at... then its a great feeling when you see them again the very next day. If i could choose to be a member at F45 Plainview, I definitely would. But i'll need to find another F45 (and a Coach Chando) in PNW area. THANK YOU F45 PLAINVIEW & COACH CHANDO! I made the plunge and joined Equinox a few weeks ago. After coming here for a few Yelp Events, and…read morebeing that it's close to home, it made my decision an easy one. Although pricey, it's worth it! Let's start off with the amazing customer service I've received. I had the pleasure of meeting Brett. He is a Membership Advisor. He messaged me to see how I was doing and if I had any questions. My very first day as a member he showed me around the the gym from top to bottom, corner to corner. He even offered to take a class with me if I didn't want to take one alone. He is super friendly and funny. He continues to say hello to me BY NAME every time he sees me at the gym. That's amazing that he remembers my name considering how many people he sees and interacts with at the gym every day. Now Christopher (I believe that's his name) works at the shop at the gym where there's clothes, gym bags, and other accessories. When you become a member you get 20% off your first purchase at the shop. So...I took advantage of that! Christopher was patient with me as I looked around the shop. So many choices! Some of their brands run big...so I was happy that I was able to buy a smaller size than I normally would. Christoper helped me pick out some things and even showed me a super comfy sweatshirt. It's a men's sweatshirt...but it's the most comfortable sweatshirt I've ever worn. Comfy and warm! Brian, the manger is also super nice! I had a long conversation with him on my first day at the gym. It was so nice that he took the time out of his day to speak with me. He also greets me by name every time he sees me at the gym. As a new member you get a complimentary Pilates session. I took mine with Jacqueline. The Pilates session is in the studio and it's just you and the trainer. Jacqueline was very patient with me as I've never done Pilates before. She showed me how to use the machines. She also taught me that Pilates isn't just body movements...but it's about your mind as well. Which is very true. We even laughed! Who laughs when working out? That's what I thought. You also get a complimentary personal training session as a new member. I had the pleasure of meeting Tracy. She is wonderful! She understood me and my goals. She was patient and answered my questions. We also laughed a little. Again, who laughs when on an 10% incline and 3.5 speed on a treadmill?? That's what I thought! I felt so welcomed as a new member! Besides the "Welcome" email and "Welcome Packet" I received, I received a hand written welcome card in the mail, and another welcome card in the mail. I can truly tell the Equinox cares about their members. On to the gym... SO many machines for cardio and strength training! I've never had to wait for a machine. One of the things I like about the machines is that they have internet. I've enjoyed watching YouTube videos to get me through my workouts. You can even access Facebook, Google...and a ton of other things. You can sync LoseIt and other apps if you use apps to calorie count or to keep track of your food intake. There's also WiFi at the gym...so you can bring your iPad or other device and watch Netflix as you work out! I am guilty of this! :o) If you aren't sure how to use a strength training machine, don't be scared. During my tour of the gym, Brett mentioned there is always staff on the floor that will show you how to use them! Don't be shy...ask them! Locker rooms... I can't speak for the men's locker room, but the woman's locker room as everything you can think of. Hair dryers, straighteners, razors, tampons, mouth wash, hair gel, shaving cream, shower caps...etc. There's also a filtered water filling station and a digital scale. Everything you can ask for! Now the showers are wonderful. Kiehl's shower products are like a dream. They smell so yummy, and have me feeling refreshed. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash. The showers are nice and hot! AND... eucalyptus towels!!! Smell so nice, especially after a sweaty workout! What are you waiting for?? GO workout at Equinox!

Fellow rowers have also been friendly and motivating without the air of pretentiousness you'll occasionally find at boutique classes... Walking in you'll notice the studio is cleaner than Raffi album, with ample fresh air flowing through and sanitizers located all over. COVID be damned, workouts are happening in this space. Lockers are fairly easy to figure out and will hold your purse, coats, plans for world domination, etc but are not completely necessary to use. The rowing machines are spaced out well so a small workout bag is not too obtrusive in your space. Instructor Kat London was extremely sweet, personable and helpful. She checked up on all the newbies and motivated us without being pushy or cliche. She demonstrated all exercises so we could follow along. You're rowing quite a bit during the 50 min class, but you're also getting a well rounded workout with circuit training. Be prepared -- dead lifts, squats, planks or presses with weights are not out of the question. Additionally, rowing itself is not terribly difficult, however it takes practice to get your form perfect and not rely on your shoulders and lower back to take the brunt of the work. CITYROW is easy to locate in Plainview's most bougie shopping centers, with ample parking among the G-wagons and Tesla's. If you time the class right, you won't have to complete with the Starbucks morning rush crowd. The studio is a little out of the way for me, else I'd probably be re-enacting the Price Eric & Ariel rowing scene in a my head a bit more (after lunking around 8 pound weights of course!)

They do have 2 restrooms I believe and a corner area to place your coats. The class itself consists of circuit training and rowing (obv), about an hour long. The instructor, Maria Costellos, was super cool and matched the energy for someone new like me and some of the regulars. It was a challenge I have to say but well worth its value. I consider myself fairly active and really thought I'd breeze through rowing but honestly got my butt handed to me lol. All machines are distanced and kept in ways to not interfere with others which is good. For those considering an alternative workout to say a soulcycle or something, this would be a solid choice. They only opened recently but I can imagine within the year this place to get pretty packed. Well worth it and the experience with the team there was pleasant, definitely recommended to stop by as they offer the first class free.
