I recently purchased a bike online for pick up in store. A couple hours later Cyclesmith called me to let me know that the bike had already been purchased and the website did not update before I made my purchase so it was not available. I thought this was hard to believe in this day and age but I accepted their explanation. Turns out this was a lie. An hour later the price on the bike I purchased was increased by $310 and was still showing as available. They did not sell this bike, they just did not want to sell it for the price I paid AFTER I had already made the purchase. Lying to your customers is not an acceptable business practice Cyclesmith! read more

Had a horrible experience dealing with this shop so be warned. They had an error in the product description which resulted in me receiving the wrong crankset which is useless to me. They admitted to the error, but refused to allow a return or replacement since the manufacture's part number listed for item sent was correct. It was a sale item they indicate it is not returnable but it is their admitted error which resulted in the wrong part sent. Very disappointing and unreasonable. read more

Do not buy anything from this store there the rudest people I have ever encountered I had my mask on this guy started yelling at me that worked there told me 6' feet , I was looking at something on the computer for me to buy for my stroller that I just spent 2K on he was rude he was obnoxious and he says I don't care if you spend $10,000 k here get out of my store sorry I am A DR of medicine and I have never seen so much paranoid people in my life . I truly don't think there worried about catching a virus I truly think there worried about the government shutting them down that they have had 3 vaccines for , To stop the spread of something thats not even killing anyone. 98.9 and he acted like I was Walking around with the plague i never in my life seen so many stupid people in one store . Someone needs to open there science BOOKS again and study some terrain theory. Because your customer skills have gone to the wolffs ill take my money else where and if I didn't directly buy from thule I would have taken it back . New store on Agricola Street next to the NSLC. Few designated spots in parking lot. Good selection of bicycles (Cervelo, Trek and Cannondale). Helpful staff. Prices are reasonable although don't discount as much as bicycle retailers in other cities. read more

I spoke to a sales guy named Derek. He advised me of all my options when it came to the type of riding I do. Showed me a terrific bike which I bought and allowed me to stay in my budget. Best bike shop in halifax hand down. read more

Was prepared to purchase a bike today from this shop. The combination of confusion, poor service and inconsistent information left me feeling no confidence in the quality or commitment to bicycling. Found a great deal on the perfect bike last week during their grand opening sale. It's my first road bike - the staff were attentive and patient to ensure a good fit. While they were late on the adjustment/changes they agreed to make, they were very apologetic and completed the work immediately. I called looking for a parcel carrier to support the battery on my bike. I knew exactly what I needed but the salesperson didn't want to try to understand. They wanted me to bring the bike in because that was easiest for them. Never mind that the bike is broken and I'd have to carry it to the shop. Never mind what was easiest for me, fit in the square hole or go elsewhere! I'm going elsewhere! read more

Great shop and good selection of bikes, but as with other reviewers and other people I have spoken to, getting service in there is difficult. Plenty of staff around but apparently no one wants to look after you. Out of the 5 times I have been in there since arriving in Halifax 4 out of the 5 times the service has been poor. It comes across as though they don't really need or want your business. It's not a difficult issue to rectify - I hope they move forward. read more

I have developed terrible inflammatory arthritis in my hands that was greatly exacerbated while riding my bicycle. I had almost given up on being able to ride my bike, but thought I would see if a bicycle shop could help me. I called Cyclesmith and talked to Paul Shaw who encouraged me to come in with my bike. After some consideration (and even letting me try a recumbent bicycle), he thought he could solve my problem with elevated handlebars. This required some extensive modifications to my bike and he didn't want me to spend the money unless we were sure that it was going to work. So.. he lent me a brand new bicycle from the showroom that had higher handlebars for me to try out! I took the bike home and it worked great. So, I gave him the green light to modify my current bike. They did and it worked out perfectly. No more numb hands and excruciating pain the next day. Yay! I am so grateful to Paul for finding a reasonably-priced solution to my issue. He was even in my neighborhood on the South Shore and did some personal pick ups and deliveries for me. What a nice guy and knowledgeable to boot. :-) read more

We went in to the new location right after they opened. It was okay. We waited at the cash register for 5 or so minutes to pay for stuff. Made eye contact with a few sales associates who were around and going about their business. The store was pretty quiet. I understand if you\re all busy and maybe no one is available right that second, but it helps to at least say "someone will be with you in a moment". read more

Visiting from the States. Had bike trouble and was fortunate enough to come here. Service was very professional, courteous and quick. Actually worked on two bikes and had us on our way in about an hour. Prices very reasonable. Recommend highly read more
