Olde Dobbin Station - bride and groom in front of entrance doors to reception hall

    Olde Dobbin Station

Olde Dobbin Station is THE wedding venue of Montgomery County!! My daughter knew from the beginning…read morethat was where she wanted her wedding and with a guest list close to 400 people, they could accommodate! We worked very closely with Brittany who was always willing to answer my numerous questions and make recommendations when needed. They have a wonderful Open House with lots of vendors making it easy to shop preferred vendors in one place who have worked the venue many times. The simple beauty of this venue and the natural light coming through the windows made for great pictures! And the convenience of the chapel and reception hall being so close to each other made it easy for our guests to move from one building to the other. It was simply wonderful and I will be reliving my daughter's wedding here for many years to come!

Off the beaten path, why yes!…read more Possibility of getting lost while attempting to locate this venue, very possible! An incredible piece of history turned into a beautiful venue for all your special occasions, yes indeed! Olde Dobbin Station, is just that, old structures dating back to the 1900s, I'm assuming restored to their once living breathing look and feel, but still leaving a bit of rustic heritage behind. I'm a sucker for history, and this place had my heart won over almost instantly. The ceremony was located in what looked like an old storage building, completely brick and mortar and fully open to allow natural light to illuminate its stone insides (with that in mind note it may be cold so you may be looking to give up your sunlight seats to the highest bidder, or hope for a short but sweet ceremony). Situated in the middle of the outside ceremony edifice and the actual reception/banquet hall sits a very quaint vintage Bridal Cottage (sadly I did not get to admire the inside). The Banquet/reception building where I spent most of my duration of the wedding shenanigans is equally beautiful. A large solid wooden door (mind you this sucker is heavy takes a bit of oomph to move) gives way to a large, spacious building lit up by vintage inspired yet modern day chandeliers. Again the restoration of these buildings still leaves behind the look and feel of the history and times past, absolutely beautiful. Another set of wooden doors located towards the far end of the building leads out to a bonfire and a view of open field and woods. If you happen to stroll along the cement paths that surround the venue you will come across what looks like a small pond/man-made lake situated at the end of the path. Overall a beautiful Venue to celebrate one of life's special occasions.

I've been trying to cancel a reservation for the last week and a half and have been unable to reach…read moreanyone at the office. Every time I've called the main number there is either no answer or the call gets transferred to a spanish speaking operator who is in another country. I emailed the business and did receive a response several days later stating that I would get an email to sign a cancellation document, that was on Friday, October 4th, today is Wednesday the 9th and still no response. I've even emailed them twice back since October 4th to follow up about the cancellation document and still have not heard back, Ive also continued to call numerous times and still nothing. The lady who initially signed our contract was Mrs Esmeralda Torres. Apparently she is no longer with the business, she was super helpful and would always be quick to answer the phone or answer any questions. It seems there is currently no one there during normal business hours. I even went to the business in person on Thursday, October 3rd during normal business hours to try and speak with someone but the gate was closed. I did happen to speak with a neighbor who lives next to the business and he informed me that the business was going through either management change or ownership change. I would rate the current status of this business as a 0/5 stars. If you have an event in the near future good luck working with management.

Our daughter chose Shady Oaks for her wedding. I can not begin to thank Lynne and her team enough…read morefor all that they did. Because Brittney is our only daughter, and we were married 28 years ago, we really had no idea that weddings had changed so much from "way back on the day." It is also very important to mention that Brittney and David's idea for their wedding was not the traditional. Brittney does not like to wear dresses and they chose for the bride to wear boots and jeans because that is where she feels more comfortable. So many people judged her and looked down their noses at her for doing it that way. But, they held strong to what they wanted! Lynne never judged and never made Brittney feel any less a bride and for that, I will always be thankful. The wedding was beautiful! Lynne is a like a magician and made everything so perfect for what The new Mr. and Mrs. Kern had envisioned. The food that the bride and groom chose was a beef tips dish, with garlic mashed potatoes, a salad and veggies. It really was very tasty! The cakes were beautiful and the DJ was everything they could have asked for. He kept people up and dancing and enjoying the party! Thank you Shady Oaks for setting the scene for the first chapter of our daughter and son "in loves" book!
