We went to get pumpkins and do some other festivities. Overall it was nice and clean and they had lots of pumpkins. One surprise is that when you go on the hay ride you can feed the cows, which was really fun! oil ranch does have farm animals you can interact with, but not many other activities to do. I gotta say I underestimated this place and not sure why. This place is awesome and we are definitely coming back my kids are already asking to go back the next day. I brought my kids here (daughter 5 and son 3) on Saturday during Fathers Day weekend and we had a blast! I thought it was going to be super crowded but it was just the right amount of people and the place is very expansive (50 acres). Everyone is really nice and in a good mood - this place is just plain fun for kids AND adults. The staff was very nice to us from the jump including Sandy at the front entrance. I'm like "what do I do and where are we?" She explained everything and gave us a map and we were on our way. It's a place where the kids can roam free and let loose all their energy. I thought the property was going to be too big to walk on foot but it's not everything is relatively close to each other just wear some good shoes. There are so many things to do we could have spent all day here but we had to leave for dinner. My son really loved the mining for treasure station and so did I. This station was one of our favorites. My daughter loved riding the horses. The cowboy and cowgirl stationed there were very cool to us and helped my daughter to mount and ride Diamond. They were very nice and deserve recognition same as the tractor hayride guy. The train ride and duck races are fun. One of the staff guys took us on a hay ride to go feed to cows and that was very cool for the kids to experience that. Overall, I'd say this place is top notch. Things that stand out the most are the politeness, friendliness and kindness of the staff, the mining station and the horse riding station. We didnt even get to do the other half of everything including swimming, fishing, maze and paddle boats so we are going back! I took a tour of the Oil Ranch to see if I wanted to have my daughters 12th birthday party here. When I first got pricing for it, I felt it was reasonable for the amount of people the package would include. I live practically around the corner from it so I figured why not. I've heard they a lot of schools so field trips there. I was taken around the prooperty by a very nice lady on a golf cart. For $400-$500 I would hope everything is included but a few things are not. The food options were very basic and in my opinion overpriced for what you get. Upon viewing the ranch I determined that it was a outdated, even for a outdoor activity spot, dirty and torn activity equipment. I feel that there are some renovations that are needed. I don't think there would have been enough value for the kids to spend that kind of money. The host was nice bbt I never reserved the party. read more

I took my class to the Oil Ranch for a field trip. They thoroughly enjoyed milking the cow, the pony ride, and bounce houses. They wished the lines weren't so long for the hay ride and train ride. They liked that part of the train ride waiting area had a cover but the hay ride had no cover waiting in the sun. Kids were given cow treats for the hay ride, there were also donkeys. Want a great experience at a great price, and awesome hospitality than this is your place! We took our grandchild to the Christmas festivities and despite the the storm that showed up, she had a blast , all because of the kind and caring owners and staff. They brought the pony ride into the barn, She played in the giant hay area, big slide, and got to pet the animals, the Santa house next door to barn was darling as well as the holiday lights. We were unable to do the hayride, s'mores, or the many outside activities, but will be back to finish the event at the owner's kind invitation. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly and despite the rain we got our money's worth just on the inside activities alone. We are definitely makng this a tradition with grandkids! read more

I've been here plenty of times. My family enjoys all that Oil Ranch has to offer. Admission prices are decent, some would complain that it's pricey, but they do have to upkeep the activity centers, land, feed the animals, care for them and pay the employees. You get what you pay for. Some of the highlights of the Oil Ranch is the train, hay ride, and petting zoo. There are various activities to do and lots of picture opportunities. There are pavilions to have parties and eat and they also sell food there. The staff are very nice and friendly. The land and animals are well taken care of. It's a beautiful place to visit. Great time, open spaces! Would have given a higher score if they had smaller lines during field trip. Many kids didn't get to experience all the wonderful offerings due to high volume lines. This place should also have misty sprinklers for people waiting in open air lines and maybe add a splash pad that's open and big so many kids who are waiting, can wait there. During a field trip. I would also recommend adding in a brochure, showing top 3 stations to go to, if you don't have time for everything (when you're on a field trip, due to school planning time restraints, not Oil Ranch) and a pathway that is recommended to walk to alleviate wasting precious time constraints. Other than that, I would give this place a 5 stars for families, but I don't know how the experience is on non school field trip days. read more

This was a fun way to spend a Saturday, but the in the future I will pick a MUCH COOLER day. The activities here are what most would call "quaint" and "old fashioned". The kids ran off energy in the maze, jumped on the bouncy pillow, loved feeding the goats in the petting zoo, and were amazed at the fanned out feathers on the peacock! The train ride, while short, was great to get a breeze going and cool down. The hayride stole the show with the opportunity to feed "real cows" according to my excited children. The pony rides were again, short and sweet, but a great introduction for my 5 year old. We had a snack lunch of corn dogs and frito pie, which was all very tasty, at the snack bar and the absolute best $1 sno cones I've ever had in my life. It's pretty spread out though, and some things are definitely showing their wear. I brought my own mother, who brought some of her kids (not me) thirty years ago and she said "it's exactly the same, nothing has changed". That's all in how you look at it. I want my kids to experience things like that, not everything has to be electronic and have a screen. We did not experience the pool, but it looked AMAZING, so clean and nice, and we will definitely next time. It's a bit spread out; lots of walking so if you have anyone with a mobility impairment I'd recommend something to assist, like a stroller, wagon, etc. We spent about four hours there all in and felt we definitely got our money's worth, some great pictures, and memories as well. read more

It was so much fun!!! There were no lines. They gave us a hay ride and train ride. They were amazing at the pony/horse ride area, and at the petting zoo area. They even have boats on the small lake. There is a bouncy area, a pool, and so much more. They let my daughter blow the train whistle and ring the bell. They gave us the feed to give the cows. My daughter loved the goat farm most of all but also loved all the playgrounds they have. They were really nice and sweet everywhere. We are definitely returning for the pumpkin patch. read more

We came with our school for a field trip and we walked right in after putting wristbands on all the kids. The property is huge and very spread out. They have so much to do for school aged kids. There are two separate petting zoo type areas, one is smaller animals such as goats. The other is on the edge of the property by the lake and has larger goats, peacocks and chickens. The birds were behind fences so we were only able to pet a few goats. You can take a hayride and feed cows and donkeys along the way. The kids loved jumping on the huge trampoline and riding the horses. They have plenty of picnic tables under pavilions to eat. The kids had a blast, just not sure my two year old will be able to enjoy much. read more

The Oil Ranch is a great family experience in the great outdoors. When you go, you can ride a pony or milk a cow. You can go the the dairy barn and learn about the way milk is processed in the modern day. There's a baby animal farm that is always photo worthy. While you're there, you can go on a train ride or a hay ride. There's an indian village on the property as well as a large family pool. You could easily spend the whole day here. During the seasons, they offer special events - the most notable of these is their big pumpkin patch in October. You'll find a sea of orange and get a free pumpkin with your admission. This is a great place for photos with the kdis. The Oil Ranch has a lot to do for kids and the whole family and it's a great day to do something other than the mall. My children and I had an absolutely wonderful day (march 2018). I usually visit Blessington farms and wanted to try something new and different. I'm so glad we did! Oil Ranch really felt authentic and had soooo many wonderful experiences for my children they haven't experienced before. My children enjoyed milking cows, riding horses, petting friendly animals, train rides, bouncy area, many play areas, and so much more. The weather was absolutely perfect. The employees were all very kind and friendly. It is a very large farm and very spread out but I knew that going in. If your bringing small Children, I'd recommend a wagon. My 3&5 year old were fine and didn't mind walking around. There are lots of shaded pavilions to rest and have a snack. We will definitely be back! read more

I think on normal days (pre covid) this place was ok- after two times of going it gets old. However went again now during covid and was very disappointed at how Nothing has been changed considering we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Yes, the place is big and the idea of no mask sounds great. However, they ignore the Fact that people still gather in the same places, in long lines to get a snack (no 6' rule either), in line for the bathrooms (which are never sanitized and always smell like porter potties, no hand sanitizer around, long lines for the trains, and not to forget, nothing gets wiped out at all. I hate to say it but this place is a covid pit. Stay fun and spend time elsewhere- where better measures are being taken to keep people safe. read more

While the concept of this place is great, the execution, upkeep, and customer service doesn't come close to justifying the price. $20 a head, no discounts for young children. We arrived just after it opened at about 10:15. It's a large property and they change things around based on the season which is nice. And that was about all that was nice. Half of the "attractions" are either in disrepair, or weren't open. It was about 11am, an hour after opening, and we walked to the far side of the property to go to the petting zoo, which was closed. We literally had to call the main number and ask what was going on, about 10 minutes later someone gets dropped off and opens the petting zoo for us. After that we try the tike town playground, which was strewn with garbage and broken plastic sand toys, but the best part was the slide on the play set which was not secured properly and had nails sticking out of it. See picture for this lawsuit waiting to happen. Then we try the duck race, which wasn't working earlier because someone needed to fill the water, well the reason it doesn't work long is that the return pipes don't fill back into the tub, it all just leaks onto he ground creating a mud pit for people and kids to walk through. We walked by the pony rides and didn't look like anyone was there, finally after the 3rd time walking by someone on the far side of the corral comes over and asks if we want a ride. Nice enough fellow, but seems like the idea was to stay in the back shaded area and avoid the paying customers as much as possible. The entire place is not kept up well, all of the attractions are past their prime and need some sprucing up, there are a number of safety issues, animals don't look at that healthy and most of the staff seemed to spend their time either driving around in golf carts (quite fast I might add) or avoiding the customers. The price of food is reasonable, but the quality is terrible, and they can't seem to handle more than a few customers. People have lunch at 12-1 every day, not sure why it should take 15-20 minutes to get a few corn dogs as nuggets. Nearly everyone was waiting for food and it was coming out piecemeal. Best part is we asked for 2 juice boxes for our kids, and we're told they can't sell us those because they are reserved for a birthday party. So either water or soda for our kids because a place that is a kids attraction couldn't plan ahead to enough juice boxes for sale Overall the staff seemed disinterested, the place is run down and not well kept, the attractions may or may not be open, and the animals didn't look all that well kept. While wandering the property we heard a lot of similar complaints from other guests. I would have said something to management on the way out, but I couldn't find anyone. The little ticket booth where we paid upon entry had no one in it. read more

What a hidden gem! We arrived less than 2h before closing, decided to visit nonetheless and it was totally worth it. Pony ride, petting zoo with goats, bunnies and other animals, plenty of cows (even one for the children to milk), playground, boat ride and other things - we ran out of time for all the activities but had a blast. Best of it : all people there went out of their way to give us a great time. They even carted us around the campus in a golf cart to make sure we had a chance to partake in the hay ride (trip in a tractor to feed the cows and some longhorns) and they started up the miniature train, let our daughter use the whistle and took us for a ride in it - we were the only guests and totally felt like VIPs! This place is awesome, the people are super friendly, and we'll definitely come back in the fall when they reopen for a pumpkin patch! read more

I forgot all about this place til I read Shana's review! I went here a couple of years ago with my son's school field trip. It was sooo much fun!! I'm used to having to corral kiddos, listen to the whining about being bored, and hope no one runs away!! But NOT HERE! The kids were engaged, enjoying themselves and learning@!! How bout that!!?!! My son and his friends especailly liked milking the cows and the train ride. We went in late fall so the pool was closed, but I imagine that would have been a LOT of fun when it was warmer. Fortunately for us city slickers who want our kids to experience some green acres for the day, we have a couple of "farm" type places to choose from. I'm pretty sure I've been to both and this one is definitely the winner. Unlike its competitor (Dewberry Farms) Oil Ranch actually feels like you are visiting a farm and not some sort of corporate amusement park. We went November 2nd and it was such an enjoyable experience. The weather was gorgeous and there was only a handful of people there meaning no lines, no crowds & the feeling as though the 'ranch' virtually belonged to us. For those individuals who hate heat & crowds such as myself I would highly recommend coming on a Sunday after the Halloween pumpkin patch pictures are finished. As far as activities go, I'm not sure what my kids enjoyed the most...but I personally thought the hay ride to the cow pasture was the most fun. When we were getting on trailer I thought to myself "What is the point of having all this hay piled up in here? To make my allergies go crazy or just to achieve a more country atmosphere?" LOL Little did I know this was not a decoration! I think the thing that really sets this place apart is that they don't nickel and dime you for every additional activity (**cough cough** Dewberry Farm). Ride the choo-choo, ride a hay-ride, feed the cows, mine for gemstones (gemstones are an extra cost but my toddlers enjoyed splashing in the water), milk a cow, experience cows/goats/ponies/sheep/chickens/pigs/peacocks/ducks/donkeys up close and personal, ride a pony, play on a tractor and just enjoy a different type of atmosphere than you typically would on any given day. read more

It took us about 45 minutes to get there from Westchase but the drive wasn't too bad. My 3 yo son and I went there for a birthday party and we had an absolute blast. I thought the people were really friendly! It wasn't too crowded there so he was able to ride the ponies 5 different times and was in absolute heaven. He didn't really care for the hayride b/c he got freaked out by the cows. We didn't go to the petting zoo either. There was a lot of space for him to run and play. You must come here with an open mind and see it through the eyes of a child. We went for a birthday party reserved at one of the pavilions. This place is out in the country side and the activities are spread apart so a bit of walking is involved. During October, every kid gets a free pumpkin so with your admission your child will get a ticket to redeem on the way out for a pumpkin they get to pick from a lot of pumpkins. The pumpkins for the kids are good kid size ones. I saw that some folks wanted large ones in the pumpkin patch, but come on people! Free pumpkins for kids would be KID SIZE, the weight and size would be adequate for a kid to pick up and hold. So more like a basketball or soccer ball size pumpkin. I really emphasize that adults need to see this place through the eyes of a child. My son, who is currently 22 months, ENJOYED his experience here. He got to see baby animals up close, petted a baby chick, climbed up a huge hay stack, took a train ride twice, ran through the pumpkin patch and took pictures, and played with the tractor tires. Did not get to a few other attractions due to the weather storming on us, but overall great time for our son. Kudos to the train conductor who took all of us on the last ride in which the storm came down on us. I know he got really drenched but was in good spirits. I think the folks working here are nice. There was a really young kid working in the petting zoo area and got out the chicks for the kids to pet. Then he climbed in to get a rabbit because one family wanted to pet a rabbit and their daughter DEMANDED a specific one. Seriously people, this kid climbed in and had to get a specific white rabbit! Have some respect for this kid and teach your kid some darn manners! Some families were just out of control demanding. Sorry, end rant here but I think these folks at the Oil Ranch do work hard to give you a great experience. BRING A WAGON! This place is the perfect time to use that wagon! We brought our big blue STEP 2 wagon and our son rode in it and we were able to put our diaper backpack and DSLR camera in it. I took my three year old nephew here today and there were SO MANY field trips that he didn't really get to see any of the attractions. Every where he went, we were run over by much older kids who had very little supervision. Not only that, the $15 entry fee is a little steep... There weren't that many activities and the ones that there are, are not set up to facilitate the large groups that they have. I understand them doing field trips to make money during the week but it makes it pretty difficult to enjoy yourself as an individual. Maybe offer a discounted entry? Or an area designated for smaller kids would be nice too. All in all, I feel like we just wasted $45. Very disappointed. read more
