Was so excited to stumble upon this place during our vacation. While the prices are a bit steep, it is well worth the splurge because of the taste, quality and portion sizes for the perfect start to a day at the shore. The coffee was delicious and the toasts were somehow even better. The atmosphere is super cute and cozy and the service was quick. My Tuscan toast came with canned peaches and one measly piece of arugula. Ricotta tasted to be from a grocery store container and the bread wasn't actually toasted. A special that featured local tomatoes had pale, anemic tomatoes with no flavor -- a sin this time of year at the Jersey shore! ***4 1/2 stars*** Every breakfast we had in the Lavallette area was top notch so if you're going to stagger out of bed for any meal, that's the one I'd do it for. My noble chum posse came here this past Sunday morning for some much-needed sustenance. I had a hankering for avocado toast (I usually do, though rarely can justify it since I could theoretically make the toast for myself at a fraction of the cost) and was thrilled to find out someone had created a restaurant that was headlined by multiple variations of this scrumptious brunch item. Delightful. If you're familiar with this strip of Route 35 N, D'Amores is probably the most subtle restaurant storefront in the area - we almost passed it by twice. It's set back from the sidewalk, allowing for some decent picnic table outdoor seating though it had a handful of tables inside as well. We stayed indoors and sat at a table about 10 feet from the kitchen/prep area, and it was interesting to watch the assembly line system they've created for the continuous edgy toast orders. From my seat I also had a view of a bookshelf way up toward the ceiling (I think more for style than substance since I can't imagine how a customer would even have access to it), which featured John Irving's 2005 novel Until I Find You. Very underrated and I'd argue the last great Irving tome. Anyway. I went with the closest option to the classic avocado toast, the D'Amore's Toast, which had (of course) smashed avocado, a cooked egg, shaved parm, black pepper and basil. It was excellent. Sourdough is one of my favorite breads to accompany avocado toast, rivaling maybe the ciabatta. It was a very thick slice and paired perfectly with the toppings. The shaved parm was probably my least favorite aspect, though I certainly didn't dislike it. Just based on structure, it was a little cumbersome to keep on the toast but the taste was fine. I'd probably alter the cheese option to a grated one in the future. Every employee we interacted with was very pleasant. It was pretty packed when we wandered in (I'd guess around 8:30ish? Everything on vacation ends in -ish.) and there was a bit of a wait for our toasts. One of us also went back in line I believe to grab a water and it took a while for her to return, probably close to 10 minutes. I couldn't tell if it was just bad timing with an influx of patrons or if part of their prep system needs tweaking, but that was a little noticeable. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of if you're on a schedule (we were not). Even though I try to go to as many different establishments as I can on vacation, I petitioned unsuccessfully for us to return for another breakfast. That's about as high of a compliment as I can give an establishment, and I was only unsuccessful because my chums wanted to keep exploring the gastro scene, not due to any negatives here. This was one of my favorite spots, and I hope it's an option the next time I'm in the area. read more

I wish I had a picture of my toast to post but it looked so yummy I dove right in! I had the Tuscan sourdough toast with whipped ricotta, peaches, and prosciutto. I added some honey on top. It was very good. I also had a cold brew coffee. $25 for toast and coffee with the $4 tip included. A little overpriced but the toasts are large and filling. The coffee was very good too. The only criticisms I have about this place are that it's a little hard to find and the workers could be a little more knowledgeable. This place is hidden right next to an old out-of-service ice cream shop. It's easy to miss. I called and asked for the address to confirm we were in the right location. The girl on the phone said she didn't know the address. Employees should know the address of where they work. We eventually found it. They have a chalkboard sign right outside. Upon entering the shop, I told the girl at the front that we've never been there before and she laughed and said, "Well, that's a problem". Then she didn't say anything else. It was a little awkward of an interaction. Considering most people are from out of town and don't know how the restaurant works, it would be nice if she asked, "Hi, have you been here before?" We eventually figured it out and were able to order. Our food came out quickly. We'll probably be back. They have lots of good choices on the menu. 4/5 stars for the food and experience. read more

This place is fairly new to the Lavallette area, so we had to give it a try. I ordered the Tuscan toast but subbed the peaches for tomatoes and added an egg. It definitely needed some extra salt, but was overall pretty tasty. The service was quick, and the outdoor dining area is great for eating a meal in the beautiful NJ weather. There are lots of options on the menu, so I will probably be back to try more options, but don't expect to leave super full after eating here. It is definitely on the pricey side too for a glorified toast, but still good nonetheless. read more

cannot get over how tasty this place was. the cold brew was so nice- it didn't even need milk. we tried three signature toasts and i can't decide which one was the best. pictured is the architecture but we also had the tuscan - never knew how bad i missing whipped ricotta in my life and we had the mamas. this place was so good we went two days in a row so we will be going back. only con is obviously a bit pricey and the wait is a little long for a sandwich spot but well worth it as long as you're not in a rush. read more

A great new addition to the downtown Lavallette breakfast choices, our party of four biked to D'Amores. Because it's at the north edge of town, parking may be a bit easier than the blocks south. The menu choices are varied and inventive. We ordered Architectural toast and two other variations of avocado & egg toast. We got a banana strawberry smoothie. Everyone loved their toasts! It was a busy morning and the staff warned us that things might take a while. It took about a half hour to complete our order. Might be better to have some signage with the expected wait times before people order. But it was nice to be told what to expect. The only suggestion I would make: beef up the coffee bar with real cream, real half and half, & stevia packets. Until then, I'll order the delicious cold brew but bring my own add-ins Looking forward to more trips, tea, & toast! read more

Visited D'Amores for the first time on Saturday. WOW! Everything about this place left an impression on me from the specialty teas to the handcrafted fresh ingredient artisan toasts to the thoughtful detail in the decor and written lyrics of Summerwind on the walls! It's obvious why this place is called D'Amores. So much love is placed into every aspect of your experience. As I was paying my bill , I saw a large black and white portrait of a couple and learned that it is a picture of the owner's grandparents whose legacy is the soul inspiration for the cafe. This made me love the place even more as I can appreciate the love and tradition that this little cafe is built upon. Having come from an Italian American upbringing myself , I understand whole heartedly the importance of each ingredient and how it is presented on each dish that is plated at D'Amores. I ordered the Architectual Toast that was served with fresh avocado , fresh Arugala salad topped with a perfectly poached egg and thick bacon and did I mention hand shaved Parmesan cheese on top of thick crispy seeded artisan toast. Absolutely delicious ! The staff was attentive, polite and busy ! Yet they kept smiling and serving and expediting the process quickly. As I was leaving , the owner, Jasmin asked me how my meal was and although it was busy in there she took genuine concern in checking in with me and other customers to ensure our experience, then she went outside to pick fresh basil off of the plants that she grows for her dishes. Yes you heard me , she's pickin fresh basil for her dishes! As if I didn't love this place enough , now I love it even more ! This place is a MUST visit if you are in the Lavalette area !
