Still unconvinced I made the call. Long story short, Don came over and looked at the job. He gave me an estimate of how many hours it would take. I backed many of my belongings in boxes, Don and his team moved the boxes and several large pieces of furniture. Did I mention he was fast, wow they didn't waste time once on the job. Don charges a reasonable price by the hour and his estimate for me was on target. There was no breakage or damage to any of my belongings and I would use him again in a minute. Don kept in touch with me about schedule changes and ended up getting the job done a little ahead of time. Take a load off your mind and hire Don and his team of dedicated movers. I don't know how it would have gotten done without him.

I was frustrated that the owner/spokesperson Ely insisted I needed two 26-foot trucks and a five person team to move out of a 1096 sq ft space into a 784 sq ft home. Ely stressed me out for an entire week while I agreed I would probably need one full size truck, I was giving a lot away before moving (which I explained) and two large trucks would be overkill. The move ended up needing half of one 26 foot truck. Afterwards, I get no acknowledgement or apology from Ely on his mis-diagnosis. he had me stressed for days on the cost of my move. I am sure I paid for the extra large truck they needed to fill with gas and drag around the entire move. At this point, I'm just glad it's over.

First of all they didn't pack everything the day they claimed to be finished and had to come back. Second, I have moved 8 times with the Navy and I have never had to clean up after movers. There was trash in every room INCLUDING soda cans they got from my fridge (almost 24 sodas) that they did ask to drink. I of course would have let them but then to leave the trash for me to clean up? Third, now that I've arrived in Florida the boxes are so poorly labeled that I can't find anything. My favorite? There are more boxes labeled "mud room and game room than anything else. Why is this amusing you ask? We didn't have either of those rooms, no mud room or game room but half my boxes are labeled so. Fourth, items are crushed including my grandmothers wedding hat from 1938, pictures of my children and so on. This company is a disgrace.

We interviewed three different movers, and were most impressed by Becky from Mayflower. She spent the time with us, took a close look of all we needed to pack, and gave us a reasonable estimate. She also promised to be in touch through the entire moving process and followed through, answering questions and giving advice when needed. The Mayflower crew that arrived came with years of experience, a good knowledge of how to handle antiques, and a desire to make things as easy for us as possible. They all wore masks without complaint and put up with chilly house temps since we opened all the windows for ventilation. We were especially impressed with Pete who was in charge and did his best to accommodate us. As planned, Pete arrived 2 days later with his crew to unload all our furniture at our new home. They showed incredible patience as we tried to figure out where to place furniture. They handled it all with good humor and managed to get our entire household from Maine to Vermont in excellent shape. We feel fortunate to have had such a caring and competent moving company. I highly recommend them.
