I asked a few questions (as new customer, my questions were just normal questions), she then became really impatient and then said things to me ironically. (2). What I do not like is that they do not want to tell you the price of their service in phone, they tell you when they come here (which they charge $29 for this trip no matter what). My car is stuck in the parking lot at my place of employment because of the key issue. Their website advertised 24 hour service. Called earlier in the day to confirm that they could make my key and that they could meet me late at night. Told the girl that I would be off work around 1130. She assured me that I would not need to set up an appointment and to just call when I was about to be off work and they would take care of me. Later that night around midnight, when I called, the gentleman who answered the phone got my details and told me that the field technician would give me a courtesy call within 10 minutes. That didn't happen. 1.5 hours later I called to see if they were still coming and the guy answering the phone apologized and said he would prompt the field technician again. After another hour+ of waiting I decided to leave my car there another night and uber home so I could get some sleep. Thanks for wasting my time and the money I had to spend on the uber, D&M. If I had received any courtesy call whatsoever I would not be writing this review right now. Pretty shitty to leave me hanging in the middle of the night like that. read more

They replaced our Baldwin lockset with a non-Baldwin lockset, which sits very loose in the door, requires an uneven 270 degree turn to lock the door but only about a 75 degree turn to unlock it, and uses a generic key, not a nice Baldwin key. For this poor service, we paid $429!! Plus, it took more than a week to get the final lockset installed!! Ridiculous. read more

BEWARE. My boyfriend and I recently purchased a historic home. We also purchased period specific front door hardware from Emteck, the hardware alone was over $600. We needed a professional to install the new front door hardware and my boyfriend found D & M Locksmith online, the reviews looked fine. The technician arrived at our property at 1:40 pm and didn't complete the install until 5:30 pm (it was dark when he finished). Periodically, my boyfriend noticed him getting frustrated, muttering under his breath and sighing heavily. It appeared he was having some trouble installing the hardware and when my boyfriend offered some assistance or advice he became even more disgruntled. My boyfriend was also overseeing another contractor that was refinishing our floors and didn't pay further attention to him (as a side note, this contractor had to come back the next day to complete his job because the technician took so long that he ran out of light). The house is currently empty so no lights yet. We were quoted $65/hr, fine. Almost 4 hours after the technician arrived and multiple requests by my boyfriend to make adjustments to the door jam because after he was finished with the install the door wouldn't open; he charged $359. At this point it was dark and my boyfriend was just tired of dealing with him. Unfortunately, he just paid the charge. It wasn't until we came back the next day to really inspect the work that we noticed the new hardware was scratched and all the surrounding wood on both the door and door jam were splintered, it appeared he had been using a screwdriver and just made repeated jabs to remove some of the wood that was impeding the locking mechanism. I called the owner and explained this as well as sending pictures of the tech's work. He called me back a few hours later and said the tech told him, "swearing on his life" that he didn't scratch the hardware. He said it must have been the flooring contractor that damaged the lock. However, the flooring contractor left with me that night out the side door (the only door he has a key to and arrived the next day to complete the job with me). At no time did this contractor even go near the front door. Ironically, after calling me a liar, he never even mentioned the shoddy work. It was only after I circled back to this that he said he would refund $85. I declined and requested a full refund as i would now need to find someone else to fix the front door so I can actually get it open with out throwing my shoulder out as well as live with new and very expensive hardware that is completely scratched a barely out of the box. He said no way. I filed a complaint with the BBB, contacted my credit card to dispute the bogus charge and here I am. If you only have to re key or replace a deadbolt you should be fine but anything else....RUN. I wish we would have just sent the guy home after the first two hours he was there. BIG MISTAKE. read more

Shimon was very professional called and let me know he would be 20 minutes and was here very quickly. Very professional and explained my options. My landlord 4 months ago had trouble opening the mailbox with the key, it was jammed and just very hard to open in general. Well it just broke yesterday inside the mailbox, needless to say I needed it fixed. I was not impressed. First, when I googled for a "locksmith near me", I was given the impression by what popped up that this company was based in my neighborhood as it was advertised all over their website. it showed a five star rating with 181 reviews so I gave them a call. A service took the phone call and stated that somebody would be out to my house between 3 and 5 PM to fix a broken lock. He arrived after 5 PM, but had texted me beforehand to ask for pictures of the broken lock. (By the way, I never got his name as he just kept calling himself the locksmith). I just wanted the lock fixed rather than having a whole new door knob and a whole new set of keys. I'm confused because when he showed up, he said he was "here" but didn't leave his car. I called him and said you kinda have to see the lock, right? So he came and looked at the lock and used my key to rekey the lock. After an hour and a half he said he did not have the right screw. interesting because he knew it would need that type of screw but he wanted to go to Home Depot, but finally at the end of it all decided to just put my old handle back on. While the handle at least wasn't falling off the door, I didn't feel $150 was fair to charge, considering he hadn't done much of anything. I asked him for a receipt what she seemed unprepared for, but did give me a read receipt. He was a very pleasant person, but I would not recommend this company at all. read more

Highly not recommended for multiple reasons. First reason is pricing. A honest business is upfront in pricing. Second, I received multiple calls from various technicians (which seemed like every 10 minutes) from DM that they would perform the work. Third, they say a fee is required just to asses the work. After canceling within 10-15 minutes of scheduling for them just to assess, they still showed up at my property anyway and claimed I had to pay their $29 fee. They fully quoted me a price to come out and a price for each lock. 30 minutes prior they called confirming my appointment and said the quote was only a starter quote and that it could be much higher when they got to my house. The least they could have done (as many others did) would be to ask for pictures or tell me up front it was merely a starter quote. First of all. Just by looking at the reviews I assumed this place would be decent so I decided to trust this place. The guy got to where my car was and he was complaining how far he had to drive, he had come all the way from Costa Mesa or whatever. Ok, well I'm sorry I locked myself out of the car? But you're charging me for your service so you shouldn't be complaining to me like that. Whatever I guess he had a rough day. Before unlocking my car, he tells me that if I want him to unlock my car, I have to write a "good yelp review" on them and give them 5 stars. I was dumbfounded and at loss of words. He didn't even say like "can you" or "please", he said "you have to". I was scared to be honest being alone in a parking lot at night with this guy "threatening" me. And so I apprehensively refused, I didn't want to write a fake review to help their business when I'm not satisfied with the service I am receiving. But he insisted I must if I want my car unlocked and so I wrote a very vague and mediocre review along with the 5 stars (which I deleted when I got home). He wasn't satisfied with my review but he could probably tell I was super pissed so he went ahead and unlocked my door. The unlocking process only took a few minutes. Now it's time for me to pay and I hand him my card assuming they take card, but he says cash only. Ok that's no big deal, thank god there was a atm nearby so I said I'll be back with the cash and he says he'll follow me, I guess he thought I was going to run away without paying, just leaving my car there LOL. Everything aside, I was so frustrated and angry I wasn't able to just say no to him sternly when he demanded that I write a good review.
