Initially this business was going to get 5 stars. However, I have left several telephone messages with no response. I tried to submit an inquiry online and I am redirected to an error page. I had this business change locks at my home. The locksmith that responded said the new front door handle piece was not compatible. He said he would check with what they had in stock and get back to me. Never received a call. He left the original handle on. It is now malfunctioning because it's so old (part of the reason I need replacement). Now I need to find a new locksmith to complete the job. read more

It took me awhile to find this company again--the previous phone number I had was no longer effective. I kept calling and leaving messages on that old number but no one ever got back to me...sooo, I decided to hunt them down again on Yelp. Very glad I did! I first used them 2.5 years ago when I needed my locks changed at my business after a disgruntled key holder/employee left. So I needed work done in a hurry. They came the next day and were courteous and professional back then. Today I had the same experience. Jacob was my tech and he was kind and knowledgeable. He quickly summed up our situation and explained all our options. He was in and out in no more than 20 mins. A couple of potential cons: 1. Both times I used them, the techs were a bit late but not by much so maybe expect some delays with arrival time? Thankfully we were not on a strict time crunch both times but if we were it might have been an issue. 2. Also I agree with another Yelper--their prices did go up since I last used them 2.5 years ago. (I don't use locksmiths very often and I haven't shopped around so I don't know what's "pricey" but the Orange County Locksmith Guys are professionals and service-oriented through and through so I can't complain about that) 3. Their key copies are $5 a piece so I suggest you just get the master keys and go make your own copies at Walmart or Home Depot for cheaper. We needed a total of 6 copies of 2 separate keys so that posed a significant expense for us if we had OC Locksmith Guys make all 12 keys for us. Bonus: Guy himself addresses your questions and concerns within a short and reasonable time frame if you contact him through their yelp page. Quick and detailed responses. Fast, excellent service. Showed up when promised, gave a free estimate onsite and did not charge a service fee. I talked to A-Abbot and they charge an $89 service fee which does include the first re-key but you're not going to get an onsite estimate without paying the service fee and then if you decide not to have the work done, you're out $89! Guy saved the day!! My 4 year old son accidentally locked our cat in his room, and with no spare key, we were stuck, and our poor cat was without a potty, water or food for who only knows how long... I called Guy and he quoted me a very fair price over the phone, and was able to get to my house in just 30 minutes (that beat the first guys estimate by 3 hours!). Guy was very friendly and polite, and after several attempts and no luck, he had to damage our lock to get the door open (he tried everything he could to not have that happen, and was very careful with my door and jam), he offered to replace the whole knob with a new one without charging more than he first quoted. After recommending OC Locksmiths to people who actually used him, I'm downgrading my review. I needed OC locksmith (again) and they came. The price nearly doubled in the last 1.5 years which is steep. Guy didn't come, but sent someone else. Either the lock was difficult or because he didn't know what he was doing, so the lock was drilled. This doesn't make me happy, but I don't think this is his fault. Here's what happened.. 1) Arrived on time and gave me a 15 minute pre-arrival call. 2) Provided me with excellent recommendations and installed a digital lock I bought online (added above my existing Weslock which we joked was "Worselock" LOL. He actually bored through metal door sandwiched with hardened industrial foam. Install was seamless and fit and finish was flawless. Looked like it came with the condo (HOA is hella picky so couldn't take chances). 3) Re-keyed both existing locks even though one was a previous hack job. Again, worked seamless. Finally he honored the quoted price and I couldn't be happier. My family's safety and soundness is first. Followed by our busy work schedule, we couldn't take chances. He made adjustments (grinding it off a bit) to the iron frame to make it open and close more smoothly. He made sure the job was done right. Guy answered the phone at 11pm and was quick and professional and quoted me a price much lower than their competitors. They use text messaging to confirm your address, which in my opinion is more efficient than just verbally saying it over the phone. Cody was the locksmith who arrived in 30 minutes, which was perfectly within the quoted time frame of 25-30 minutes. He helped us install our new locks in 15 minutes and was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable, giving explanations and advice on our old locks. Exceptional service! I called several local locksmiths this morning looking for someone to come out and install new hardware on my front doors today. I had Nissan Leaf leased and time has come to return it. I was prepared to return my car to dealership, but the morning I decided to visit dealership I realized we lost one of the remote key that I have to return together. Tried several days to find it but failed. Visited Nissan Irvine for quote, they gave me $150+ more for key ( they even gave me separate quote for remote and physical key.. ) and additional $120 for key cut and programming. I solved first remote part by ordering Nissan OEM remote at Amazon, only costs $70, and need to find someone to key cut and programming for less than $130 for sure. Asked quote to several locksmith I was able to find at Yelp, and got several quote asking $100~$120. And here comes Guy. His quote was really something I thought "reasonable" based on the difficulty of programming, key cut, and time to spend. Shame on all other auto locksmith who ask $100+ for 10~15minutes of programming and key cut. Although I had some difficulty to make an appointment with him since I'm living southern area of OC and his main area is Santa Ana.. it ended up with him visiting the area near my office with little bit more cost than the quote he gave to me earlier. All the process was really quick and accurate. He came to my area on time, did key cut and programming, made sure it worked perfectly, and not forgotten to gave me a receipt.
