A Diamond in the Rough !! This is a Absolutely Amazing Venue. The D&R Theater was built in 1923/24 by Ed Dolan (which is where the "D" came from D&R). It been renovated and restored. A state of the art sound and lighting system make this a great place to see concerts. They seem to be getting great artists to come to Aberdeen also !! It is an intimate venue with up close and personal live shows. A small concession stand with drinks, pizza & popcorn. Every seat is Awesome. I will always try to see shows here, just some of the artists I remember seeing from the pictures in the lobby are Clint Black, Styx, Jonny Lang, Fab Four, Chris Isaak, Foreigner, Wynonna, Robert Cray, Loaded, Bill Cosby, Queensryche.... I am old enough to barely remember the old DnR Theater when it played movies. It sat idle for over 20 years as a storage building. It has been remodeled, and it is beautiful. It is great to see some of the older buildings in Grays Harbor being restored and used! First of all, there isn't a bad seat in the house. I sat in the 13th row on the right side, and it was a great view. It's a small theater, how can any seat be bad? The seats themselves are fine, typical of what you would expect in any venue. If you go to a theater, the seats are going to be close--it is what it is. I have visited the coffee shop in the past and bought my tickets there. It is an awesome atmosphere, and the service was always nice and friendly. It is clean, warm and inviting. To be fair, I did not go upstairs, and I did not buy anything from concessions. But when I bought my concert tickets, I was able to go in the theater and check it out. This theater will truly be an asset to the community. In fact, Billy's restaurant didn't have one empty seat before the concert! This will really help the economy in Aberdeen. I went to Queesryche, and it was a great show. The opening group was a band called Gord, and they sounded a bit like an AC/DC cover band. Enjoyable, but the vocals were hard to hear. Not sure if that's the DnR speaker system or not. But Queensryche was great, vocals were very clear! I loved the feel of the small theater with a loud band like that. The biggest complaint I had was that between acts, the doors were open, and people were outside smoking, and the smoke filtered right in to the theater. Maybe they could close the doors next time. It is nice that we don't have to go out of town to get good entertainment, and we have a theater that can handle it. Unlike the prior poster, I felt I saw a show in a manner that I would have seen anywhere else. It started on time with the first band promptly starting. I will admit, it did seem like it took a long time for the main act to begin after the opener, but I didn't mind, and I'm not sure whose fault that is. As for prices, you are going to pay to see a show. I have never compared prices to other places, but if the previous poster is correct, why not pay a little extra to see a show right here at home? You save on gas money and food to eat out, and you help your community. I will go back to the DnR theater next time there is a show worth seeing. The acts they've brought in have been mostly country, so I'm hoping for more variety this year. They have also allowed churches to have Christmas Services, as well as had dance companies have recitals there. Clearly, they are trying to be a friend to our community. This a horrible business. I ordered tickets to Engelbert Humperdink only to have the concert cancelled at the last minute. The only way I managed to get my money back was to put in a complaint to our credit card company. They notified me they were putting the money back on my card and if there was no response from John the money would be permanently refunded. After a specific amount, the money was permanently put on our card. What a crook! read more

I would caution you on this place of business. They are not legitimate . They took the money and ran.. I ordered 5 tickets for a February 10, 2019 Englebert Humperdinck concert which was cancelled due to weather. I've yet to get my refund of $370. I've called, emailed and even called the Chamber of Commerce. The owner's name is John and also owns Amore Italian restaurant in Aberdeen. Not a peep from this man who obviously took the money and ran. I'm sure I'm not the only one.... read more

Went to see Billy Gibbons and the BFGs here and it was an AWESOME venue. Really neat vibe here from the outside appearance to the moment you walk in! Very well done classy remodel of a really old theater. There is not a bad seat in the house and the sound was amazing! The owner came out between acts and made announcements of upcoming events and did a great job making everyone feel welcome. The opening act was Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown, a young rock band from Nashville and they blew the doors off the place. Next came Billy Gibbons and the BFGs and they tore the place up, it was a great show!!! We will be back! Bottom line, skip Seattle and go here if you can it is just plane AWESOME!! read more

I am rarely inspired to leave a bad review for anything... However, I purchased tickets for a concert in February that was canceled. I've tried to reach out to the venue on several occasions with no luck. They are not answering phone calls returning emails and even the owner seems to be blowing me off. There was no notice that the Engelbert Humperdinck show was canceled in advance and there has been no follow up from the theater regarding any refunds. It seems that they truly took the money and ran and I feel incredibly ripped off. I grew up in Aberdeen and I'm sad to have to leave such a review... But this place has no business putting on shows if they can't give people updates on cancellations or refunds on events that that don't even take place. Based on this experience, I will never buy another ticket to a show here. read more

If you ever have the chance to attend a show here, definitely take advantage of it! We saw Styx perform and although I wasn't what you would call a fan before, I definitely am now. This venue is intimate and gives the feeling of being at a high school play. you definitely feel the historical vibe as well. The seats are comfortable, though you probably won't use them much. My biggest complaint is that the restrooms are upstairs and when it's close to max capacity, you're never going to be able to even get close to the restrooms. I had to wait the entire concert and then go down the street to Safeway to find a restroom. Doesn't fare well for the beer drinkers. There's also an ice cream parlor (no restroom) attached and it fills the theater with the intoxicating smell of waffle cones. read more

This is a classic venue. Hard to believe it's in Grays Harbor. Nicer than anything in Seattle.

America concert...Extremely uncomfortable seats. We had 2nd row mezzanine center seats which should have been great seats but whoever installed the balcony seats must have been on crack. They are closer together than airplane seats but much less comfortable if you can imagine that. They weren't staggered so you get jammed into this small seat which is tipped curiously forward so that the head of the person in front of you is right in the way of the stage. There isn't enough room to even get out without making everyone in the aisle get up. Most people were climbing over the seats in front just to get out. I made it through the opening act(one hour) and then had to make everyone stand up because i couldn't stand it anymore. Add to that no ventilation or AC on a 85 degree night making the upstairs really uncomfortable. At one point they opened up the fire doors just to give us air. The emergency lights on the stairs are also very bright white leaving me night blind. I certainly hope there is never an emergency because the upstairs floor plan is a disaster. I was actually thinking of leaving until we found some empty balcony seats on the side aisle which were actually better than our$65 seats. The only way i would attend another concert here is if i had First row Orchestra or front row mezzanine and the Rolling Stones or Peter Gabriel were playing...so probably not. They should have put fewer larger seating in and or tables and made it a supper club especially if they want to sell those seats and serve beer and wine. Unfortunately, i can't see them ever selling out those bad nose bleed seats. Looked like the whole cheap$35 section went unsold. The people who knew better paid top dollar for the Vip package which included those choice front row seats. All those seats had been sold or blocked out when i tried to buy tickets so i got the feeling that you can't even have those front row seats unless you paid for VIP read more

Tried again and again and again to contact someone at the ticket office (like previous reviewer) with no luck. Even emailed and tried leaving message at restaurant. No response. Guess they don't need my money. Really disappointed was looking forward to seeing Aaron Neville but not willing to drive all the way out there on the hopes there might be a ticket available read more

Bought tickets for the Aaron Lewis show in August and didn't really pay attention to the seating diagram. Called to see if there was a way to change seats and Scott was an all star, he helped me switch seats and even recommended where would be the best spot! Can't wait to see the show and tell him thank you in person. Scott, you rock! read more

Been to a few concerts here....It is a fun venue and we've enjoyed many great shows (everything people have written below is pretty accurate) however, The last show (The Orchestra) was canceled and there is apparently a no-refund policy at the D&R. On top of loosing my hard-earned $160 the D&R didn't even have the decency to broadcast an email to ticket holders and make them aware of the cancellation, so, you guessed it, we made the one hour drive (each way) from Olympia and learned of the cancellation from our waitress at dinner.... seriously. Anyway, the whole experience has tainted my opinion of the venue as a whole and will definitely influence future decisions to purchase tickets knowing what I know now. read more

Ordered Tickets online. Requested that they be Emailed to me. I have not received them and it's been 3 weeks. I have called several times and emailed several times always no response. Finally I did get I did get a hold of someone who said they were the owner and they would call me right back I have not heard from him. Not only did the theatre not let attendees know that the show had been cancelled, two months later they have not refunded me. I have reached out multiple times and either they say they will get around to it or, especially lately, they just ignore me completely. The canceled concert from August 2010 tickets are not being refunded nor has it been re-scheduled for Loretta Lynn. I have gone in, called, left messages, sent my husband in, e-mailed and to no avail! I have attended almost every public event Yonich has promoted but this is not aqcceptable! They told us that the refunds are not being given out as there are forgeries on tickets! How, pray-tell, does that work if I go to an event and "SOMEONE" has already entered with "MY" ticket that was SCANNED? I wanted to TRADE these for another concert...and know people who have done this, but no manger or owner will return a call or tell us how to get this mess solved.! read more

Just recently attended a concert here. The ticket ordering is very confusing. Paid for Platinum seats Rows 1-6. Not sure what this entailed other than a seat in those rows, but as soon as the show started anyone in the theatre regardless of ticket price was able to come up and crowd the front of the stage. If you were in Row 1 you were screwed. The crowd was packed up there with no security in sight. They talk about the D&R being the "Premier venue for Western Washington". I would highly suggest a better website developer or administrator. Tickets packages are not explained at all. If I would have known that I could come to the stage and only have paid a general admission price I would have done so. If something else was included in my ticket price, it was never stated. It's unfortunate, because the artists playing are really good. This could be a boom for the tourist industry in Aberdeen, but I have no desire to return after this experience. read more

I give 3 stars for the building only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to see Dwight Yoakum and of course he was late (hour wait on the street as the doors were not open...). No one came out to tell us what was going on or what we could do. Many working folks had to be at work in a.m. Sound was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as there was obviously no time for sound checks when they finally started... I love the theater .. It is very nice inside. Did not see an elevator for access to 2nd floor where restrooms are.. BUT I was hassled by the homeless on the street for an hour wanting to sell me jewelry and /or could I just" give 'em a buck?" Then when inside to see show NO ONE checked our tickets at all. NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I watched 2 homeless people come right on in and sit in seats that were ahead of me by 6 rows (better view ...bigger price) and no one had a clue... I guess I could of walked right on in for free..................... I loved the building but the people running the place need to take some classes on business management. Turns out even Dwight was pissed about the way the show came down.. I will go 1 more time and if no one checks our tickets or the show is again late I will save my money... Not to mention not being hassled by the homeless. What a sight to see............................ read more

I had the same problem with the Scot Bruce 'Elvis tribute' concert on 2/18/12 They had the 'decency' to announce the cancellation of the show on their FB page on Wednesday (keep in mind, not everybody who attends their shows isn't a FB friend) I drove over 300 miles for the concert, booked a hotel room for the night. When we got there, the theater & coffee shop were closed up tight, not even a lowly staff member to tell you what was happening, or even a notice on the door about the show's status. There were about 25 people that showed up as well, even a couple who had bought tickets online the night before. Afterwards, we got the usual 'please be patient' BS from the box office manager. i called, left message on the contact page. Never heard back from anyone. I bought my tickets online too, they should have my e-mail address. Fortunately, I was only out $40 for the cheap seats. But I heard that Scot wanted to go ahead with the show. Regardless of how many seats that had sold. On the plus side. I heard many good things about the rennovation, and the theater looks alot better. I'm just not sure about management. read more

The D& R is something to be proud of. In an area where unemployment is the highest in the state, John Yonich has given back so much. It is beautiful and I have attended many concerts there. They have all be fantastic..Thank you John for bringing a lot of class to our community. read more

The rows are not staggered, so someones head is always in your way. They also allow people to stand in front. If you are on the floor, it blocks your view. It's cold on the floor, really cold. Performers even complain about it being too cold. The ushers are not trained in any way. They know nothing about seating people during songs/scenes, so people are up and down during the middle of songs. They also do not address hecklers. Rude. They will not notify you if a concert is canceled and you are expected to check on their website to see this. If you buy tickets, check on the website on a regular basis, if their website is working. The sound is good in the theater and the staff at the concessions and in the coffee house are nice. read more

After many non-returned calls and emails for a refund of a cancelled August 2011 show, I finally received a refund of my ticket. They did tell me to come on in to Backstage Expresso to get the refund when I called one time, but I explained that I lived 150 miles away and was not going to be near Aberdeen in the near future. I persisted on attempting to get the refund over the phone, but the phone just rang with no answer. One time the phone was put down, then hung up. After a few months of attempts, I tried the Better Business Bureau. They also did not get any response from the D&R and because of that they now have a negative rating from the BBB. Finally, one day I was driving to Portland and decided to take a side trip to Aberdeen to seek the refund. The young woman politely gave me a refund, but had no apologies or "thank yous", no "have a coffee on me" for my troubles or for driving such a long way. I decided to not make a big deal about it because it is not in my personality to do so and in addition, there were customers waiting to be served. What I do not understand is if you can buy tickets with your credit card over the internet, then why can't they credit cancelled show tickets through the same means. She did mention something about needing to swipe the card on the card reader and thats why refunds cannot be processed over the phone, but that hardly makes sense. read more
