So, we made the decision to pack up our Ford pickup w/tools and supplies along with our 26' RV trailer in tow, and 2 dogs, we drove from San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, NC in 5 days to meet up with our claims adjustor. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies. After several days of cleanup and hearing discouraging reports that supplies and contractors were in short supply, our ray of light and hope emerged when we met Carey, the owner of Under One Roof Construction. I had seen him drive up to inspect the roof across the street from us. My husband & I made it a point to talk with him to see if he could help us out. We immediately took a liking to Carey. Knowledgeable. Easy going. Established family business. Carey, gave us a reasonable roof estimate; we gave him the job. Carey brought out his roofing crew, some who had been with him over 10 years; you could tell how they instinctively worked together. They installed a new beautiful roof. He and his crew were very professional. They picked up all their construction mess and used a magnetized roller to pick up any roofing nails in their work area. We were quite impressed w/their roof competency, products, and warranty that we asked Carey if he had a construction crew who could help us with the damaged interior work. Carey, again, came through; he worked us in to his VERY tight schedule. So, we contracted w/him for the interior damage caused by Florence, including interior sheetrock tear down, installing new insulation, rehung new sheetrock on the ceilings, interior priming and painting, etc. Carey and his crews did all the big stuff. We are forever grateful. 3 months of exhaustive labor took its toll on my husband (70 yrs old) and myself (64 yrs old). The events that led up and followed with Carey coming to our aid was literally an answered prayer; a small miracle. In addition to Carey, we recognized several small miracles during our Florence trip including our drive back home when our truck broke down in Anniston, AL a week before Christmas Eve....but that's another adventure, for another day.

My son was driving my…read moreheavy duty truck with a flatbed trailer to make it easy to load the materials you were selling me. He was the only customer in the parking lot when he arrived. He was greeted by a polite lady at the front desk saying he was here to pick up the order. She struggled to locate the order and then what appeared to be a supervisor came out from a backroom and said he had it under control. A few minutes later, he got a confirmation that the order was ready and here to be picked up. They did not have the three-inch screws that we ordered. We asked if you had three inch screws in any color in stock, they said no. We then asked if you had any 2 1/2 inch screws in stock, they said no. It is very important to note that your company did nothing to help with solving this problem, my son kept having to come up with possible solutions to solve this. This answer soon changed to they did have some 2 1/2 inch screws in stock in the charcoal color, they brought out a box of screws and we found that once we checked them they were the wrong color, we gave them back to the lady at the front desk and she went looking for other screws, she came back with a second box that had some charcoal colored screws on the surface but then had burgundy color screws buried in the box, we sent her back the third time and she located the correct screws finally and gave them to us. We were assured that we would receive a credit for the price difference in the screws from the three inch to the 2 1/2 inch. Once all of this confusion was put behind us, my son went outside expecting to have the materials loaded up. Again, please understand that when he pulled up at 7:37 AM there was nobody else in the parking lot. A semi-truck pulled up right as he went back outside and your location began servicing that semi-truck ignoring my son, they said it should be done in a few minutes at the end they would load the materials after that. Following this, another semi-truck came in and they started servicing that truck instead of my son. My son describes the situation inside this location as chaotic and no one was willing to address why he was still sitting there. Another customer arrived and they started helping him and loaded his Rav 4 up with multiple different roofing products. Still not helping my son in any way, then somebody dressed in one of your company uniforms pulled up in a White Chevy Avalanche and remarked to my son: "nice parking job". She was saying this in a very nasty sarcastic tone of course. It should be noted that the only reason my son was still parked in the customer parking is because your company still had not loaded his truck at 9:00!!! Finally, the truck was loaded and my son left at 9:23 in the morning. This could be one of the worst examples of customer service I've experienced in recent memory. We got the product to the house and we will say that your estimator really overestimated waste and I am quite confident we ended up paying for a lot of metal that we just didn't use. It was also below average quality compared to what we're used to using, but it did ultimately do the job a lot of the overlapping ribs were not even and while they still barely overlapped at one end they were as much as an inch difference at the other end of the panel. Concerning, but you would have never heard this comment if we hadn't had such terrible customer service on site. The aftermath is that we wasted about $750 in labor because a crew was just sitting there while my son sat at your location for two hours waiting to pick up something that was supposed to be ready to go right away. We also have not received a credit for the overpayment of screws. The salesman that we originally placed the order with apologized and said we will get a credit for the screws and management would contact us about the terrible service, neither ever happened. I have waited almost a week before posting review.

George, the owner, is a gentleman, but it ends there. I had all of the windows in the house…read morereplaced. No one worked over 4 hours in a day on the windows. First crew: 2 guys the 1st day, 1 guy the second, then no show, then 2 guys, then 1, etc. They removed / installed the windows and did the outside trim, in between moaning about needing money and mentioning what a big tip they got on their last job. The removal of the old windows was not a "cut out" as I was told, but the claw end of a hammer was used to smash and rip out the old windows & outside trim, in addition to any insulation or celotex that was up next to and any where near the windows, leaving exposed areas. The areas around the outside edges of the new windows, only have caulking and a little, if any, erratic spraying of foam insulation and the rest of the area ripped out is still totally exposed (where their once was insulation and/or celotex). When I questioned why exposed areas, I was told that foam insulation would be added as the outside trim was done. The outside trim was totally lacking in craftsmanship. I base this statement on the original trim that was in place. None of the new trim, from window to window, was consistent and was definitely uneven on the same window (flush at the top, protruding on one side, etc). On one window, all of the trim was actually totally recessed, not even far enough out to come flush with the siding. And caulking was more missing than it was anything else. George came out (with one of his other contractors), reviewed, with the contractor agreeing with me, and agreed to correct the outside trim. The second crew (sent in for trim correction) was 1 man, who worked several hours on one window attempting to correct the outside trim. He did not finish the one window nor did he ever return. On a midday Saturday, I got a call from a gentleman saying he was a contractor for G&S who was going to come out to work on the windows. He never showed up or even extended the courtesy of calling me to say he had changed his mind. Next, a crew consisting of a more than several guys came out. I was feeling great. "Finally, we are going to get this done!" Then one spoke up and asked "Did Ray Charles do these windows?" I was not impressed. Now mind you, several months and many crews later, I am not a happy person and am definitely wondering why I chose who I chose. Any way, these guys worked and announced that they were done. I looked things over quickly, said thank you, all is good, you're done, go on your way. The outside trim on one window is still totally lacking caulk, others are missing caulk in some areas, etc. So why did I say "O.K." Go.? If they could not see what they had not done, how many more crews and MONTHS were going to pass by? I just needed for this whole mess to be over. I will finish caulking and correct what I can, and live with the rest. I have already corrected the inside caulk. My wife thinks the house is warmer. I remind her that there is a lot more sunshine coming in through the windows now. I said, feel the metal around the inside edges of the windows where only caulk and erratic, if any, foam insulation was used on the outside and all celotex and/or insulation was removed. The metal is cold on the inside edges. Caulk is not classified as insulation! On this subject, when I questioned the guy who was installing the windows on insulation, he simply replied " you can't use very much expanding spray insulation or it will bind the windows." My question that remains until this day, "have you never heard of non expanding foam insulation?"

One did not sell in our market (Okna) so that was easy. That left Sunrise as my preferred choice. G&S is the local Sunrise dealer so I met with them. What a pleasant experience!!! Randy Sumrow came out and met with me, listened to my needs and helped me define the scope. He later sent me a quote for the project. There was no pressure, no sign now and you'll get something special or a better discount, no "be a showcase or provide leads" special program! Just a fair and honest quote from a local, family owned business who have been doing this for years. I called him several weeks later and placed our order. Today, they completed the installation and I couldn't be any more satisfied!!! The windows are fantastic and the quality and workmanship involved in the installation is exceptional.
