This comment is specifically for the restrooms. Absolutely the WORST public bathroom in Northern MI. Very dirty & not maintained at all. For such a busy store in a prominent location you'd think they would take better care & do some updating in there (only 2 cramped & gross stalls in the women's room)! The toilets, walls, doors, and sink area are ALWAYS FILTHY! The automatic flushers haven't worked in years (so I push the button with my foot). Will someone PLEASE make these bathrooms a priority? No issues with the rest of the store...but customers deserve a safe & clean powder room when needed. read more

Michele, a customer service manager, was working the register. She was nothing but rude to a lady in front of me whose card declined, throwing her hands up with a condescending attitude. She refused to accept my valid ID to purchase alcohol because it is still vertical. It is a valid ID for a 23 year old woman, for the next 2 years. I politely tried to explain why it was still valid, just vertical because I got it renewed right before my 21st birthday. She was nothing but rude, unwilling to listen to me, just stating she refused to take it. Luckily I had someone with me who was also of age and had a horizontal ID. She was talking behind my back to my partner stating that I was the problem. Nothing but rude incompetence both for the lady in front of me and myself. Definitely not going back for a while, totally ruined my experience. read more

We are vacationing in the area for 3 weeks so finding a good grocery store is necessary. D&W is a great grocery store but the employees are hit & miss in providing customer service. For example, one outstanding employee dropped what she was doing and walked me directly to the product I asked for while another employee (cashier) chastised me for not letting her know until after the order was rung up that I wanted the 5% Senior Wednesday discount. I definitely look older than 55. Prices are very competitive and in-store discounts with their D&W cards are great. Be aware though that once you sign up for their D&W discount card, it will take 10-14 days for them to add you to the data base so either keep your card ready or kindly ask the cashier to use their membership discount SKU when checking out. Remember also that with your discount card you get a fuel discount SKU receipt each time you spend $50 or more on groceries, alcohol not included. It is an "each occasion" discount, not a cumulative value over time so if you get a discount ticket after checking out, use it or you will lose it. read more

Had a really lousy experience here on Saturday. I had a barely sipped bottle of wine that was foul and spoiled. Brought it back along with the receipt. I've been drinking wine since 2001 and have returned maybe 4 bad bottles in those 22+ years at other stores. It's never been an issue. I was initially told "no problem, you can exchange it", by a young lady with pink hair, then an older customer service woman came back and got rude and nasty, and then she called David Monarch over to continue the despicable treatment that cannot in way be considered "customer service". They actually tried to lie to me and tell me it was "illegal" to take a return on an open bottle of wine, even though it was spoiled. This is an outright lie. David Monarch's approach to managing this store is as f00lish as he is rude. I will never do business with these folks again. Worst grocery store experience in my 40+ years. read more

Another issue with sale prices listed do not carry out at the register. I took my receipt to the service desk and the clerk said maybe an old sale sign was still up. She checked confirmed the item was still on sale and refunded me. She said this happens a lot and does not know why. This happens to me all the time. How many loyal customers trust and never check their receipts.? C'mon, you can do better! Or, you will lose customers!! read more

Beware if you are not white. They will be racist towards you. Today 7/12/24 at 07:40 the only woman cashier working was making racial remarks towards me while she was scanning my groceries. I felt really uncomfortable and stayed silent the entire time as I was dumbfounded. read more

Don't go there with your teenage children and buy alcohol. They ID everyone in the group and won't sell it to you if anyone is under 18.

This store is very nice and modern and clean, yes. But the workers don't seem to care that much about there job though. We got some food there and the self checkout was very glitchy and we needed 2 workers to go there. It's good if your going in for some food, but otherwise, head Meijer or Walmart. read more

I know everyone is overwhelmed right now, but yikes! I called and asked if the Fast Lane Online Shopping could be more specific as to what items were or were not available. I was told no, they couldn't be specific as the site is run out of Grand Rapids. So, I ordered some items and the closest pick up date was 10 days out! When the pick up date came I received a text message saying what I had ordered was not available. Fast Lane might work in larger markets, but not here. read more

I'm fed up with D&W self checkout process. Oleson's Meijer, and Walmart all have personnel dedicated to self checkout process. Not at D&W. You have to wait until the service desk is not busy to verify your age or resolve a self checkout issue. I've stood in the line for 10-15 minutes until someone frees up. D&W needs to step up and assign a dedicated person especially at busy times. read more

This place gets five galactic stars because of 1) their freshly made sushi section, made to order even available, and 2) in-store Starbucks. Up-north folk will agree when I say both of these uber-important factors are hard to find north of the 45th parallel, let alone together under one roof. Huge wine selection, and even liquor. It's a pretty good store. It has a nice deli and a fish counter. Great produce section and plenty of health food selections. My complaint stems from a trip to the men's restroom. The toilet bowl was disgusting. It looked like it has never been cleaned and there were fecal matter stains on the bottom side of the toilet seat. Also, the latch on the stall door was broken. I've seen better restrooms in Tijuana, Mexico. read more

The staff here are very helpful and friendly. I do all my grocery shopping here. Would be nice if they had a wider variety of organic produce and specialty items, but generally one of the best grocery stores I've been to. And the gas coupons they have save me a lot of money on gas for my truck. read more

Great looking, clean, wide aisles, the deli, fish, meat section are wonderful. Seems to have a very large wine section which I've yet to fully survey. Prices seem a little high but the quality is there. Starbuck and free wi-fi. I'll be back again read more

I'm a regular customer who comes in bi-weekly because I live close by. Unfortunately, I just got food poisoning from one of their pre-made meals for the second time. When I called to inform them of the situation, the manager never apologized to me, just asked me what items and said I'd hear back from their food safety people within 48 hours. He was about to hang up on me and I had to interrupt him to ask if I could get a refund. He told me he'd leave a giftcard waiting for me, which I don't really want at this point because I don't trust their food safety standards. I've been ill and throwing up for 24 hours now. Food poisoning is a very dangerous issue and a miserable experience, so at the very least I deserve an apology and a refund. I've been a manager before, and that's not how you should treat any customer, let alone a local patron. How hard is it to act sympathetically or at least utter "sorry"? That's not only a mark on you as a bad manager but as an indecent human being. So now, I neither trust the freshness of their food nor their customer service. read more
