Very interesting deli/pub that's really got it going on. Had been wanting to go there for a while, but they close at 4 PM ! So we scheduled a lunch there and the service and food was really good. Everyone at our 11 top was happy Right in the heart of downtown.

    $3 drink specials.

Food. EXCELLENT Southwest salad: fresh, flavorful. DESSERTS are on display. Housemade pies, cookies, and other pastries. Enjoyed the banana cream pie; flaky crust, beautiful, fluffy and creamy. Service. Very friendly when you walked in, eventhough we arrived half hour before closing. They did not act too annoyed. It is a small town and they can tell we were 'tourists' because they seemed to know everyone else that came in, and walked over to the bar area. We were sat near the front windows of the main dining room. Then a large table of 6 adults got sat next to us when there is OTHER ample seating in the rest of the restaurant. I do not get why staff does that? Do you think we like diners next to us talking about their colonoscopies and health procedures that end in 'ectomies' while we (a couple) are trying to have a quiet dinner? *smh* Ambiance. Bright. Nautical decor. I think? Clean. Open kitchen. Nice. Parking and things of note. Street parking. Look clean and stocked. This joint does charge an additional SUSTAINABLE FEE when you pay with plastic and not cash. *rolled eyes* Anyway, photodocumented the overall experience which we would rate 'good' because we did come back for the salad, desserts, and service.

Really friendly service. Yummy cocktails. They have a bakery section with delicious baked goods and sweets!!

I went here with my family on a Monday afternoon. It was really nicely decorated and our waitress was really nice. They had a great selection of drinks and many local options. I was really impress and it all tasted good. I got a cherry hard seltzer and it was pretty yummy! I didn't have any food but i my family said it was pretty good. I'd definitely go back here again! It was a little hard to find (not on apple maps) but i had a good time.

Very meh. Nice location and decent atmosphere. Food was very lackluster. Panini was overdone. French dip was cold. Burger was terrible...Do not get the burger. $30 per person (w/ drink) and you will be very underwhelmed.

We've frequented The Happy Troll on multiple occasions, drawn in by the promise of decent food. But alas, the recurring issue here is the service, which is usually slower than a leisurely stroll in molasses. One can easily expect to invest a mind-numbing 2-3 hours in total, from arrival to finishing the meal. Now, there is a shining beacon in this dimly lit tunnel of service woes - Susie, the bartender. She's the sole reason we returned for a third chance. Unfortunately, that third time became the breaking point. Our party consisted of 10 souls, two of whom were little ones under the age of 4. The initial prognosis from the establishment was a 30-minute wait. We obediently waited at the bar, only to have our patience tried further as it took nearly 30 minutes just to receive a beverage. To complicate matters, the owner seemed more interested in obstructing Susie's workflow behind the bar than in tending to customers. Meanwhile, an unfortunate staff member attempted to change a keg, resulting in a beer flood on the floor, with the owner nonchalantly obstructing her path. Service at the bar was taking so long that I took it upon myself to collect everyone's order and jot it down. Frustrated by the inability to get drinks, I once checked back with the host to see how much longer. Given the fact we were initially told 30 minutes, and it had already been well over an hour. The clueless host told us were next in line. Curiously, however, our name had mysteriously disappeared from their list, now transferred to another sheet. Yet another 30 minutes drifted by, and we watched them seat a couple more four tops that could easily have been pushed together, yet still no table. At this point, we had languished for over an hour and a half. We finally at least had a first round of drinks on the table. But glasses empty, and not so much as a nod in our direction as to when they might be able to refill them or bring a round of water. The owner did manage to open a beer and pour a glass of wine and appeared to revel in her accomplishment. (I wish I was overstating her reaction here!) Then came the climax: My daughter dared to inquire about the wait, only to be informed that they would not be serving our party due to a sudden food shortage. Yes, he literally told her that he ran out of food, but might be able to seat us if we waited another 30 minutes or so. Well which is it bud? Your restaurant is out of food or you can squeeze us in after you blatantly ignored us for nearly 2 hours?? It boggles the mind that they continued to seat new patrons while we, patiently waiting, were left high and dry. No apologies were proffered for this exasperating dance of misinformation, and no rationale was offered for the constant seating of new patrons despite our prior commitment. In sum, The Happy Troll's service is nothing short of abysmal. The owners seem utterly adrift in the art of running a restaurant, choosing to hinder rather than aid their clearly overwhelmed staff. To add insult to injury, they tacked on a surcharge to the bar bill for using a credit card.

Consistently good food and swift, accurate service. Clean dining and takeaway area. Sandwiches and wraps are sizable enough to have leftovers.

Fresh sandwiches, wraps and entrees! This place is great for a quick bite or a meal with a couple drinks. Owners are welcoming and walked the floor greeting customers. Staff were friendly and attentive. They are celebrating their 1 year anniversary and I know they will be here for years to come. I was a bit too excited to eat before taking a picture of my lunch, but nevertheless, it was great. Cheers to 1 year! And thank you for feeding a hungry traveler again. Can't wait till next time

Food was really good, half sandwich came with yummy pickle and chips. Drinks were ok, I've definitely had a better hard root beer float, this one needs more root beer and less cream (drink seemed more like a White Russian once stirred). Definitely recommend the food, especially the toms last stand panini!

Yes, as a…read morehometown local I'm a little biased for sure but there is something very genuine and honest about the Pub and the people there. No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. If you can keep your ego in check you'll find a pretty rare and valuable thing here which is a local pub welcoming to anybody and truly reflecting the full breadth of the local community.

I traveled to Scotland and London, and this fish and chips beat out what I had while there. I am not a huge fan of steak fries, but these lived up to my expectations and had enough crisp on some to make up for the softness I associate with this type of fry. The Cole slaw was enough to be a meal in itself. But the fish, were the star of my plate and the tartar sauce...I need this recipe or a bottle of the sauce. My travel mate opted for the Ruben sandwich. I tasted the corned beef, had a great flavor to it. There were no complaints from our table. She also got a coffee to go, asked for cream...came out with the cutest little cream pitcher. The cup is also biodegradable, which is great since it would end up in a recycle bin along the way.
