I've had a couple of pedicures done here and my hair cut and colored once. The pedicures were both great however the most recent one the color started to chip and look dull after only a couple of days. Maybe she didn't put a top coat on? I don't remember. I ended up with Alan as a stylist last week. I went in for a color job and ended up getting my hair cute, too. I LOVE the cut, and I'm liking the color. It ended up being more red than I wanted, but I do like it. I don't put any blame on Alan AT ALL because I leaned toward this color. I guess I was hoping for a bit more brown than it turned out. I'm also still getting used to it. But change is good, and it is hair so it'll grow out and be just fine. I had such a good time talking with Alan. He is so friendly and we got along nicely. We were both running a bit late that day but he took his time to help me get to where I wanted to be. This is definitely a very nice salon. It is obvious they take pride in aiming to please. I definitely recommend them. And I recommend Alan, too, as a hair stylist. read more

Do not recommend. My husband and I went to their Helotes then RIM location for over 2 yrs. Our stylists were consistently late for our appts, and we weren't notified until we were pulling in the parking lot. Stylists were incredibly inconsistent from visit to visit, and often seemed very rushed. Our final straw was the incredibly poor manner in which the owner handled an issue our 21 yr old daughter had at the RIM location where the stylist was late, rushed and refused to give her the style she wanted. When I finally tracked down the owner after 5 days and 8 attempts, she was incredibly rude, lectured me on the difficulties of running a salon, and said she would side with her stylists due to labor laws. We will never to to a D'Anthony again, and have let everyone we referred know of the terrible experiences. There are too many good places to waste your time and money on D'Anthony. read more

I went for it, even showing her a picture of how I wanted them, and now I never go anywhere else for my eyebrows! I have never had such great shape with my eyebrows before. I had Brianna as my hair stylist a few days ago! I was sick of my long damaged hair and decided at the last minute just to go anywhere that caught my eye here on yelp! They got me an appointed for just 30 mins after I called and I had less than a 5min wait time when I arrived!! Brianna listened to exactly what I wanted but made it even better (discussing with me first) I love how she did my layers which I normally stray away from but they are blended SO well! I cut a good 4-5 inches off and I didn't feel the least bit worried she was so nice and I highly recommend you ask for Brianna!! The styling products she picked to use on my hair were perfect! They weren't weighing down my thin hair, instead I got shine and smoothness! When she washed my hair she used a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner as well!! And they didn't charge me for extra length!!! The haircut was $40+the tip I left!! I left extremely happy and will be returning in 3 months for another cut! read more

Aylin is the BOMB!!!!! Let's be honest, when moving to a new city the two things a gal dreads searching for are a hairstylist and a gynecologist. After searching for 5 years for that perfect hair stylist, since I moved from CA, I have finally found my hair soul mate. After seeing Aylin for almost a year now I can positively say she is the best. I recently decided to go short, I mean "Am I young enough to pull this off?" short. It came out beautifully. I even got 125 likes when I posted a pic of my new do?!? That never happens! The salon is beautiful and clean. Unfortunately, my cut ended up VERY uneven. I've been wearing it back ever since because it's embarrassing. Nice young lady but just didn't get the job done. Also styled my hair and rolled it under- Never asked for that but just went with it. I was hoping for a more modern look but she never asked and I ended up with a disappointing cut AND style. Then charged $60- when the website said $45.... maybe for the boring style I didn't ask for. Just saying, for $60 and the high rated salon, just WRONG. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Good morning, I wanted to provide some feedback. I love your Helotes salon and have always had great hair after going. But the last two times the stylist scheduled other appointments during mine. The first time I let it go,although it made me late to a bridal shower. But yesterday I came with my daughter with an appointment for the same time and her stylist got to her as scheduled. Mine actually sat me in the chair with the gown on then made me get out and wait 45 minutes because she took someone else during my time. It was our family picture day and I had to skip color and just go with air cut because of her. When I mentioned it to her she didn't really seem to care, just acted put out that she already mixed the color. Well needless to say not what I expected for our pictures.... kind of ruined the plan. The stylist was Laura, I still tipped but thought you should know. I would never embarrass and inconvenience a customer like that, especially one that brought in double the business that day. Talk about a gem- this is the place to go! I got my brows waxed with Kayla ($12)- she was so nice and did a fantastic job! I showed up about ten minutes early but she saw me right away. Then I got my hair done with Alan (shampoo, cut and blow-dry/style $35)- talk about an experience! Just getting my hair washed put me at ease- he massaged while he washed- very nice. Alan did a great job with my hair. He took his time, was very nice, and definitely personalized the visit by writing down notes about my hair type and style so he knows for next time! Seriously, when was the last time you went to a hair salon where they personalized a visit like that? You have to ask for Alan! (He doesn't work Sundays and Mondays) I went at 12:00 on a Wednesday and this is definitely a family-friendly place. Salon was clean, upscale, and the stylists are apparently 'certified' but the final result speaks for itself. I had Laura, who also happens to be the manager, cut my hair. I showed her a pic and gave her a full head of straight hair to work with. After an hour of seemingly awkward snipping, my final cut turned out extremely choppy, uneven, and the layers were far too separated. Again, my experience at the actual salon was fine, but I definitely expected a top quality cut for a $50 price tag. Not to mention, the haircuts from the other stylists I watched weren't the best looking either. Please retrain (or provide more frequent haircut training to) the folks here. read more

This review is for Laine. It's tough reviewing salons because you'll go, and hate the salon, but love your stylist. Or you'll go, and love the salon, but hate your stylist. When I went, the salon itself was a little upside down due to a remodel, but whatever. The music they play isn't annoying nor is it loud. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. But enough about all that...let me tell you about Laine. I picked her because of the yelp reviews, and yelp does her justice. I went in with 4 inches of new growth after a bad experience at another salon...I'd procrastinated and waited a little longer than I should have. But the last salon I went to I came out with accidentally black hair that had to be lightened it still looked like crap. There was a lot of damage done and I wasn't anywhere close to the color I wanted. And this is what Laine had to deal with. But she was great. I knew between the length of time I'd waited to get a haircut and the heat damage that I'd have to give it a good whack to clean it up, but Laine isn't what she calls "scissor happy." All in all she gave me a good trim. Nothing fancy, or dramatic. It's perfect because I'm trying to grow my hair out. The best part was the color though. It's a gorgeous sun kissed red. She used PM shine, which is a demi permanent color that's more like a stain. It's a good color option for reds since they fade so quick and PM shine is actually pretty good for your hair compared to permanent colors. I've gone red quite a few times and I've learned over the years, demi is a good way to go. Now honestly I prefer just going into a salon and trusting my stylist enough to tell her vaguely what it is I'm looking for. They're the experts, they're going to know better than the rest of us how much of what we want is actually possible. There's a lot of chemicals involved, it's science and math that I'm not even going to attempt to make sense. I was a little nervous to do that this time, for obvious reasons. But I thought what the hell. Laine really took the time to go over what happened, what I originally had, what I ended up with, what I'd wanted, where I was at, what I wanted, and what was possible. She told me I had a lot of options, but she was conservative with her suggestions. Which I appreciated. So much. I needed someone conservative. Someone who understood I wanted red hair, but nothing crazy. So then she said something about a few foils and I thought sure, why not. It came out way too dark last time a little lightener won't hurt. AND ITS GORGEOUS. I love it. My boyfriend loves it. He actually wishes I'd done a few more foils. She didn't suggest anything too crazy. She wants to work with the remnants of the bad dye job slowly over time. Fix it little by little. A few more foils here and there to hide the darker less faded spots. Which is totally my speed. I felt way more comfortable knowing she was going to take it super slow and she knew exactly how much would leave me wanting more, rather than wishing I'd done less. I booked my next appointment, without question. I'm moving soon but I don't care. I'll make the drive for Laine. She's great. Even though I came to her fussy and with a mess to fix. read more

(i accidentally wrote my last review for the wrong location, i meant to write about this location in Helotes) ANYWAY, this time around my experience was WAY better!! ugh, my hair is just.... i don't know, straight but no style. it grows pretty quickly so this time I had a mission to do something with my hair. i still had leftover money in the gift card my husband gave me on Mother's Day, so i called Saturday morning and they squeezed me in for a haircut and threading for my eyebrows (Alka did wonders to my eyebrows) for later that afternoon. First thing i had done was my eyebrows with a lovely lady named Alka. oh she was so sweet. i've never had threading done before, i once had my eyebrows waxed (never again!). i was not expecting the wincing pain. it wasn't horribly painful, but,yikes! as soon as she started i wanted her to stop so i could rub my fingers over my eyebrows to soothe them. it only took her about 10 minutes, or less, and thankfully she rubbed aloe vera at the end. she did a great job, i didn't know i could get that kind of shape to my wimpy eyebrows. then it was time for my haircut. Ava is another great person, very sweet and engaged! not like the last stylist i had who didn't seem interested. we agreed on a haircut and so we began with the hairwash, oh it was soooo soothing and she actually took time to wash my hair. then she cut and styled WOW! amazing job! Thank you Ava for such a great cut.... now i don't want to wash my hair because i want the style to last forever! LOL i got there about 1:50 and was done by 3:15, eyebrows, wash, cut and style. I have been going to Laine for years and could write a novel about how wonderful she is. Along the way she has taken my hair from it's natural color, to red with incredible dimension, to dark chocolate brown with a white and purple streak. She has been helping me grow my hair since I met her and has always kept my hair healthy and beautiful, despite my ever changing mind in regards to color. Laine is professional and listens to exactly what I want. I always leave the salon feeling amazing and rejuvenated. Firstly I will say I LOVE my cut. I am a difficult customer (I have the worst combination of being extremely particular and being WOEFULLY bad at explaining what I want...) but Nicole understood what I wanted and made sure to check with me throughout the cut that it was turning out how I expected. She was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to do the cut so that it would fall the way I wanted it to. The front desk staff was super friendly both on the phone and in person, and the salon is beautiful and very clean. Watching the other stylists cut hair showed me that they also knew what they were doing and did some gorgeous styling. The ONLY reason I gave this a 3 and not a 5 was because my hair stylist accidentally cut her finger then waited until she was done with a portion of my hair before she went to get a bandaid. I am pretty OCD and it made me squeamish. Despite that, the experience was wonderful and I will be going back to get my hair done there again! read more

Modern atmosphere and everyone was very nice. I got a shellac mani and classic pedi.... Pedicure wasn't too bad, but the shellac on my manicure started peeling off within a couple days. She also got pieces of cotton under the polish, so they weren't smooth and she cut my nails way too short. I asked for rounded nails and walked away with all square. My cuticles are all messed up too. All in all a very messy manicure and not worth the price at all. I only gave an extra star because everyone was nice. read more

I have been to the D'anthony Salon twice for eyebrow waxing. The first experience was great so I made a second appointment. I visited today and I am absolutely devastated. My eyebrows are ruined. The lady who performed the wax had no plan of action she just started waxing away and I am left with very uneven, misshapen brows that will take months to grow back - IF they even grow back! read more

I've been coming to this salon for maybe 7 years and I can honestly say that I've never walked out complaining about my results whether it be a hair cut, color, style, make up, pedicure, manicure, waxing or facial. However, lately I've been surprised at how some of the female workers dress. I understand that the salon isn't a "corporate" world- but it's still a business. I've seen see through dresses and blouses, short skirts that are having to be held down while walking, short shorts and low cut blouses. Since when are shorts acceptable in the business world? What the workers do is a reflection on the management. Other than the dress code, I'm very satisfied with the salon and its products/services. read more
