Communication was very good and he was very timely. However when replacing my lock he did not make sure that is was evenly aligned with my other door. His work was quick however he marked my front door and the inside and it will need to be repainted. In addition he said he'd leave a manual but did not and told me to call him if needed. I cannot recommend D Best Locksmith highly enough. I grabbed the wrong set of keys on my way out the door. When I got back I discovered I did not have the house key. I did a quote request on Yelp - one would only take cash, one could get there in 2 hours, one was a ridiculous $165 to open the lock. All were much higher priced than D Best. The D Best locksmith, David, arrived in under 30 minutes and had me inside in 5 minutes for much less than any of the others quoted! Zero rating. Absolutely the worst professional locksmith i have ever dealt with. I called 561 902 1208 (D Best Locksmith) to have a new deadbolt installed into a brand new exterior composite door. This was explained to them over the phone in detail before agreeing to dispatch. I discussed Medeco high security locks with them, but decided not to use Medeco at this time, opting to see their workmanship on a Schlage install first. I was told the cost to install a deadbolt in a brand new door was $90. Without telling me, D Best outsourced the installation of a new Schlage deadbolt into a brand new $1000 custom built composite door, and the subcontractor they sent out on their behalf butchered the composite door jamb while failing to secure the deadbolt into the door framing. Apparently he has never hear of a router or router jig for cutting strike plate recess. Instead he used a hammer and chisel and cut the hole 1/4" bigger than the strike plate, scarring the jamb which looks terrible and has ruined the custom depth door jamb beyond repair. The strike plate does not sit flat in the hole he carved, nor does it fit vertically or horizontally. You have to lift up the door with the handle just to lock the deadbolt. If i could upload pictures here i would. Before he started, I was also told by the installer that cutting the door jamb would cost me an additional $90, as he was not party to the telephone conversation i had with D Best Locksmith company (who sent him out). Reluctantly i agreed, but I told the guy repeatedly how expensive the door was, it was brand new, it was custom made, and i expected it to look like it was factory/professionally installed. The subcontractor also failed to install the 2x 6" security screws into the strike plate, through the jamb, and into the door framing, as supplied with the lock so the only thing holding the strike plate on are 2x 3/8" trim screws into the jamb, not the 6" security screws that are designed to attach to the framing behind the jamb. There is no security on this deadbolt at all, a child could pull the door open with the deadbolt engaged. The contractor left all the trash on the floor inside and outside of the house. No cleanup was done. The contractor failed to install the internal security plate that came supplied with the deadbolt. The contractor failed to install the security screws into the strike plate. Upon calling D Best Locksmith to complain an hour after he left, the woman who answered the phone at D Best Locksmith was argumentative and verbally hostile to my wife on the phone, claiming this was not their work, also claiming that i never called them to begin with, even though they are the only locksmith i called. They have since admitted this was their installer,. but simply referred me back to him for complaints of his work. I told the contractor multiple times before he started that i was hiring a 'professional' locksmith for this install because i did not feel comfortable cutting the door jamb myself. I told them i expected a professional quality job. The work he performed is worse than what i would have done myself, or for that matter a third grader with a butter knife could have done a better job. The incompetent contractor that D Best Locksmith sent out is named avi zevuloni 'Abe's Mobile Locksmith', completely unprofessional, argumentative, messy, late, unskilled, would not hire again under any circumstances. We were told by both their office and the locksmith they would be coming back out the following week, to finish the job of installing the security parts of the deadbolt and repair the door jamb with wood putty. To date no one has showed up or called 15+ days later. read more
