Three weeks later one of the sink drains they worked on got a clog (this was a coincidence) and so we brought them back out and they cleared the clog plus recommended a small replacement to a p-trap which we also proceeded with. This service included a $65 charge (in addition to their labor cost) for them to use a drain auger. I thought this was a bit odd because it's s standard tool that every plumber has in their truck. 3 days after their work on the clogged drain the same sink backed up again. When I called them to have this remedied they basically said it wasn't their fault and there would be additional labor and an additional charge to use the auger. I declined to bring them back out and will explore other options in the future.

We are not only very disappointed at the quality of service we received from Baker Plumbing, but alarmed and disgusted at the blatant violation of our home, the homophobia we experienced, and their continued unprofessional response. Poor Quality of Work - The work took a week longer than quoted - Their digging broke our lanterns and killed all our mature plants along the path - They discarded garbage and broken tools around our yard (and did not clean it up) - They widened the path to our front door without telling us this would be done - Their job required us to hire a landscaper and hardscaper ($1000) to clean up the mess they had made (above and beyond the path reworking anticipated) Privacy Invasion and Homophobia - Phil, the owner of Baker Plumbing, showed up unannounced on our doorstep a month after completion of work to hand-deliver the bill (they had not emailed or mailed a bill) - On our doorbell camera, we heard Phil say "motherfucking c*cksuck3rs, I know you are home" - The video also showed that Phil had looked in our front window (blinds were closed), and we have video and audio of him saying "I can see you f*ck1ng freaks in there, mother#ck3rs" - We told them not to contact us again or come to our home: they continued to contact us via text and email Phil's Retaliation -We paid the bill within 24 hours of having received it. We left a 1-star review due to their poor work, the extra costs we had to pay to clean up after them, and because Phil had called us slurs and violated our privacy. -We emailed Phil to confront him about his homophobic language. Baker Plumbing called us "slanderous" -Baker Plumbing then posted 4 x 1-star reviews on our B&B's google listing. They have never been guests. The message we are getting from him is loud and clear: I hate gay people so much I am not only going to use slurs against them, but try to sabotage their business as well.

I am sharing my experience in the fall winter season of 2023. I set up a service call to have my…read morehot water on demand combi unit checked out for the winter season to support local business. Tech came out and stated my heat exchanger was cracked and that a new one was required as my unit was leaking CO. I was told the cost to replace the heat exchanger was marginally less than a wholesale replacement. The tech shut off our unit and unplugged it leaving us without heat and hot water. A quote was prepared for the replacement and I was pressured to replace from the BC safety authority as a report was generated and submitted to the authority to report a CO concern as required by the tech's gas license. I then received all this pressure that the last replacement unit in the lower mainland was on hold for me and that I needed to move on it asap to restore heat and hot water to my home. Further to that the BC Safety Authority was calling me looking for immediate action. I called in another licensed journeyman to look things over and it turned out that the CO issue was caused by the gas running rich to the unit from the gas regulator and my heat exchanger was in fact not cracked at all. The other company's tech adjusted the gas regulator to eliminate the CO and gave the system a clean bill of health along with a report to satisfy the BC Safety Authority. Cost of the second option was $250. My advice is to please take a minute to get a second opinion from Acorn. In my case my thoroughness by calling in a second opinion ended up saving me $10K to replace a system that only required a minor gas adjustment. Buyer beware!
