Incredible experience!…read more We almost had our snorkeling reservation cancelled due to lack of people, but luckily we were able to get on the Small Group Snorkel & Dolphin Charter which was a much more intimate experience with fewer people and longer snorkel time. Our guides, Seth and Lacey, were the most welcoming and informative staff we were blessed to get. The weather was perfect, the sea life was super active, and they provided us snacks and refreshments for everyone. We got to see some beautiful landscapes, incredible sea life, all while enjoying the beautiful day! He even pulled over on the way back so we could watch a pod of dolphins. His colleague Ryan was extremely helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. My only feedback is that he should raise his voice and project more so that everyone aboard can hear the great information he has to offer! The cruise was about an hour each way, and then we spent another hour in the water snorkeling. It was my first time doing so, and I felt very safe and comfortable the whole time! There are tons of colorful tropical fish to observe in the warm, clear waters of Kealakekua Bay. Good choice if you want to try snorkeling!

One unfortunate incident is the parking. While there is a small lot across from the water (and signs tell you not to park on the water side or you will get towed) the fee you pay says all proceeds go to a local church, I saw the guy in the wheelchair take someone's money and pocket it. I'm sure the locals know who he is, but that was disheartening.

It's not that crowded when we went here and they were scattered in the area. But there were people bringing their own speaker with their blasting music which kinda ruin the serenity of the place. Kids can swim in here with less supervision of the guardian. I am not sure but by far the ocean's wave is not raging at the time so I guess it's pretty calm in here. There where no shade as I remember and you gotta need some tent in here to help you from the scorching heat of the sun. Make sure to bring the right spf with you.
