We rented 6 of their 7 delightful and very romantic apartments for the weekend in beautiful Tuscany. With its old and romantic setting Il Canto del Maggio is a wonderful place for a wedding. What is great about Il Canto del Maggio, is that you don't have to amuse your guests in any way. They have a beautiful pool, a cosy terrace, a vegetable garden and fantastic food, our guest were totally amazed how relaxt a wedding could be. Even the children were relaxt and not a burden to the parents, while playing ball or finding bugs on the property. Host Simona Quirini stole my heart, because she arranged so much to make it a special day for us. I am so happy that we found this place. She genuinely made it a wedding to remember. We will definitely be back when we have the chance. Simona speaks English pretty well and makes insanely good desserts (and wedding cakes!!). It's a family business, her dad is an incredible chef.. fingerlicking good food. Her husband makes delicious pizza's and barbeques. My wife's potato flan was quite nice, but it arrived buried under a heap of truffle shavings that tasted of nothing in particular. My main was a special of roast suckling pig with potatoes and a savoury tuile made with the pork drippings. The tuile was gratuitous -- a chef-y touch that didn't actually taste very nice. The suckling pig was beautifully cooked but the potatoes were weirdly inconsistent; some crisp and others mushy. Il Fornacino is a good restaurant that would be the best restaurant around in most places, but the five-star bar is set pretty high in Tuscany. But the prices were very modest and the wine selection was great. It's a tremendously good value for what it offers.

Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu.
