Treasure in plain sight We have been planning our Italian vacation for a couple years now and other than the experiences of others,reviews are the only thing we have to go off. Trattoria Di Borgo was a very well reviewed restaurant, in fact it was about as close to perfectly reviewed as a restaurant can get. In our experience though that still doesn't always guarantee a successful trip. We booked our reservation for a good size party of eleven and they accommodated us. From the moment we entered we were greeted with warmth and fun, our host and owner playfully teased my daughter and another in our party. The language barrier didn't stop him at all from making us feel like family, we then met his wife who was able to communicate with us and is also the chef. We went through a menu of drinks and food that peaked our interest. We began with drinks,wine and beer a very nice selection. We placed our orders and as a diverse group we had most of the menu represented, everyone shared each dish and we were all amazed. Food like that is not possible without years of dedication and a generous amount of love. Our trip took us from Rome to Naples to Amalfi and Positano, we have visited some very high end restaurants. Our experience at Trattoria Di Borgo has been by far the best, the food of course but we were treated like we were there family. We have rearranged our schedule to be able to go back before we leave. Out of the 300 some reviews of restaurants I have made on Yelp, this place stands as my favorite place Yelp has ever led me to! It's non pretentious, inexpensive, and has some of the kindest, most genuine customer service I have ever experienced. I may have to write a novel to explain how I am truly in love with this place. They made us feel like family, not guests. After a long day of traveling and finally settling into Greve, I was looking for a restaurant still open on a sleepy Monday night. This place showed up and off our group of 7 went. When we arrived at 9pm, we were the only people in the restaurant, which historically means it's crappy, right? No, not at this place. We got sat and quickly realized the place is owned by a sweet Italian couple who don't speak much English. My entitled American butt usually gets annoyed by this but the husband, who was also the waiter, really connected well with us, using jokes and other funny things to get over the language barrier. The funny thing is, the majority of our group spoke Russian and he was still able to get all our orders correctly while making us all laugh. Over the course of our 3 trips here, we tried pretty much all the appetizers here. The caccoli was amazing and so was their flan. Of course, the mozerella and tomato salad was amazing as well, with the cheese being extremely fresh. Bruschetta was pretty good with the bread not being over toasted (like Americans always do). Their house wine was hands down some of the best in Italy, smelling like apples but tasting perfectly dry. For our meals, we also always tried a mix of things, from the steak, chicken, lasagna, seafood pasta, rissoto, spaghetti with meatballs, the boar ragu, and their special pasta that had a star next to it. The quality of ingredients here is so fresh and you know the wife chef is making everything with a little bit of Italian love. I could marry the lasagna if it was a person, with the amazing creamy cheese used inside and the non acidic tomato sauce on top. The meatballs had minimal fatty pieces and melt in your mouth. All their pasta in general is fresh and light on your stomach (impossible, right? It's carbs!) The boar ragu was such a hit, as the meat is tender and flavorful. Oh and how can you forget the dessert: chocolate cake, panna cotta, and tiramisu. Holy crap, I have never ever tasted such a decadent tiramisu in my life. If I died and went to heaven, I would hope it would be as crazy good as this tiramisu. By the 3rd night, the owners were greeting us warmly at the door and ending the night with a round of shots for us all. We took a photo of all of us to commemorate and even brought them a gift before we left. This place feels like a home away from home with inexpensive Italian food to match. Don't miss out! read more

Trattoria del Borgo, located about 2 minutes from the Piazza Matteotti, is a very comfortable and spacious spot with a superb staff to boot. Our waitress essentially baby sat for us the entire meal. What a sweetheart! The food was quite good too. We went with the pasta alla trattoria which was linguine with a sauce that included anchovies, sun dried tomatoes, hot peppers, and olives and it was topped with a crispy bread crumb coating. We also got a plain cheese pizza and it was delicious; nice amount of char on the crust, fresh and fragrant tomato sauce that had some strong basil and garlic notes, and good quality cheese which was slightly browned. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to find this spot, but if you find yourself in Greve and want a solid meal, then by all means take a walk over and check it out. read more

Thought the food was ok. I've had more flavorful bruschetta as this one seemed to use tomatoes that did not have their flavors fully developed (not ripe). Better tomatoes would make a better bruschetta. Pizza was also different than what we've had in Naples. Tomato sauce lacked the same depth of flavor that we had elsewhere in Italy. Service was good. We loved this restaurant! The food was excellent, from the delicious appetizers to the main course and the sides. We were too full for desert but I'm sure it would have been excellent. I stumbled upon this place during a brief visit to Greve. Owned by the nicest couple, super friendly and amazing service. The food was also very good. I got the margherita pizza, very tasty with a thin, crispy crust. For dessert I had their chocolate cake, which was very rich and flavorful. This trattoria is a few steps away from the main piazza but well worth the trip. The restaurant is owned/run by an Italian couple and their service was Excellent. I had the lasagne with bolognese sauce which was really good. The fig stuffed chicken had a mustard cream sauce which I want to attempt to duplicate at home. All in all a great choice to eat - there were many to pick from and this is (in my humble opinion) the best. read more
