We were jazzed to try Smokey Bone as an extension of this food hall…read more The menu was pleasantly overwhelming. Thought the three-meat sampler was good bang for our buck: brisket, pulled pork and smoked pork ribs. $18 for generous portions. We were gonna try the wings but after the server heaped the mounds of brisket and ribs on our tray - we scratched them. We also got corn bread and slaw for our a la carte sides. The meats were good, and good without the BBQ sauces (Carolina Vinegar, Spicy BBQ, Alabama Horseradish). Though we were basically drinking the vinegar by the end of the meal. The ribs were our favorite - lovely, crispy exterior with charred ends and tender once we dug in. The pulled pork was alright. Tasted more like it would work better as a topping on some mac or fries than as a main protein on your plate. I loved the corn bread. Dense and appropriately brittle. It was a fitting companion for the meats. Don't know when we'd be in town again to give other menu items some attention, but Smokey Bone has left a lot of good eats to the imagination - enough to know we could recommend this place to other out-of-towners without getting our foodie cards revoked.

Not impressed with this bbq! Got the brisket and corn bread…read more Flavor on brisket is just ok but without sauce it's dry! The corn bread is just ok more sweet cakey flavor than a good bbq corn bread. The young man cutting the meat was fine but the girl at the register wasn't. I asked for butter for the cb and she forgot it. When I looked in the box I asked her for the butter and she tells me there is none. I ask if there's any in the back and she says no without going to even check and they were not busy. Then she gives me the same meh face she gave the guy in front of me when she told him they were out of the beans. Made no effort whatsoever to go out of her way to do much of anything. And this was at 6 pm on a Thursday night. Not a good experience.

I first went to Famous Dave's on a road trip through South Dakota in 2001. Loved it. I've been to…read moreseveral over the years, but since I live in a place without FD... I don't go a lot. We were very briefly staying in Twin Falls and I fired up Yelp to see our choices. My wife wanted sushi and I wanted BBQ. We didn't expect to find a compromise. We didn't exactly, but there was a sushi place across the street and we took both items to go. This was a very unique Famous Dave's as it's just a ghost kitchen inside of a place called Johnny Carinos. There is a FD host station next to the main host station. The guy was super nice and helpful. I had called in my food and it was *almost* ready when I arrived. He hooked me up with some utensils and sauce and I was out of there in a few minutes. It was just as good as I remembered. The Georgia chopped pork will rival any chain in the country's and the rest of their stuff is well above average. You'll pretty much have to find that hole-in-the-wall homemade BBQ to find much better and frankly that's not very possible for the most of the US. Great for you if you do have it, but I don't. Famous Dave's is a cut above the chain competition and I greatly enjoyed my meal. Try the Wilbur beans with some Devil's Spit. Highly recommend if you're in Twin Falls.
