In town for a week of baseball. Was starving in between games so I stopped here for a sub. What can I say small classic family ran business. Products appear to be locally produced. Fresh deli meats, fresh bread, and house dressings. Sub was great. Also bought some local beef jerky which I ended up going back for more to bring back home. I wanted to take home more of their products but unfortunately my luggage was already at max. I love to support local businesses so if you're in the area, I recommend you try this place. Daddy Al's subs are so good! I prefer my subs made with very thinly sliced meat, they cut the meat just how you want it! Their honey ham is the best! The last time I stopped for a sub, I also bought Pepperidge Farms 12 grain bread for a dollar! They also have candy that you don't see anymore, cookies that are freshly baked, salads, spices, jellies, you name it! read more

After a week in Oneonta and a few rough experiences, we were a little apprehensive. My wife sent me in to "check things out" before dragging the family in. It looks like a house from the outside, but inside it is a bustling place of pure happiness. Homemade jams and syrups, nostalgic candy and a large selection of sodas and chips. Not to mention the deli section with a large selection and the nicest lady working the counter. I instantly got a grandmotherly feeling from her and she couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Al was great and we could have stayed and chatted with him for hours. This place is a must! Especially if you are there for the Cooperstown All Star Village games. If I could not rate this place I would. Hometown Deli, the best deli in Oneonta does not make subs anymore. My family decided to try a new sub place. I don't think you can consider what we received a sub but it was disgusting and over priced. $20 for two subs?? You could get double that at Hometown Deli and receive a quality product. Subway tastes better to be honest... and that's subway! I'm sure for them to have a higher review some of there other products must taste better but that sub was disappointing and ended up in the trash ! read more

Al is one of the nicest people you will meet in life. He'll always chat you up at the register and have some story to tell. The subs are delicious and theres so many options of what you can get on them. Right now they have a $6 special going for footlong subs. I like the variety of old school soda pops and there is so much candy. Their homemade peanut butter is also very good, and they make it right in the store. Lots of chip options too. They also have 1/2 gallons of fresh milk in glass containers, I found that exciting. read more
