One of my main struggles when relocating to the bay area from the south was finding someone who could maintain my "natural" blond highlights the way I like them. Every stylist I visited in the area always tried to tone my hair to a dark, ash color and wanted to chop my hair short. After a few awful visits to salons I had even resorted to try to do my own color...BAD IDEA! I searched for someone in the area that specialized in blonds and I came across some review for Lisa at Dagaz. I am so happy I found her! Lisa knows how to create beautiful, icy blond highlights! She has also incorporated very subtle low lights to keep the dimension and "natural" look to my hair over time. Lisa has never pressured me to chop off my hair. She just trims as little as possible off the ends and encourages me to keep growing if I don't need a trim. She has turned me on to great products that have really improved my hair. I used to have to blow dry and flat iron my hair everyday, but now my hair is healthy enough that I can let it air dry to achieve a wavy, beachy look and my hair is not a total frizz ball. Lisa is Amazing! I am one of those people who has long hair and is scared to death to try any new hairdresser because of the horrible expierences I have had in the past... (you know, the scissor happy hairdresser) Believe it or not, I waited 2 years before I had the nerve to make an appt with Lisa. Boy am I glad I did!!!!! :) First off... She takes her time with you. She told me herself that she usually only books herself 4-6 clients a day because she doesn't like being rushed. Lisa spent 10-15 min talking with me and listening to exactly what I wanted and flipping/tossing my hair to see what would work. Lisa put my mind at ease immediately (which is not easy to do when it comes to my hair) We ended up adding highlights and doing a base booster and a cut. BY FAR THE BEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! Degaz is the BEST! It's a wonderful salon with a great "feeling-tone". One feels like you've walked into a beautiful cottage setting, complete with tasteful art work, in the small village of Mill Valley. Stylist, Lisa Fiedler has been doing my hair for over 5 years. I'm so happy to have found, at last, a stylist who can work with natural-curly & frizzy hair. I am an active 75 year old retiree who is young at heart & athletic. I don't want grey locks hanging from my bicycle helmet. I had light brown hair when I grew up & Lisa created my natural color right down to the subtle highlights & a delicate sheen. She gave my hair an up-beat style with the perfect cut. I'm so happy that Lisa educated me on how to keep my hair healthy, using her recommended natural & nourishing salon-quality products. After moving to Mill Valley a year and a half ago and trying a number of stylists, I've finally found my favorite in Lisa at Dagaz. The salon is warm and inviting, and the whole staff is friendly from the minute you come in to the minute you leave. As soon as I saw Lisa's awesomely styled hair, I knew I'd be in good hands. Lisa picked up right away on the look that I was going for and gave me the exact cut that I wanted, all while never making fun of me for cutting my own bangs for so long! She's sweet and bright and makes the whole experience fun and relaxing at the same time. After my first cut, I knew I liked Lisa, but after my second, I know I wouldn't go anywhere else! I also suggested that my boyfriend give Lisa a try, and she gave him the best cut he's had in the last 5 years. She definitely has two loyal customers in us! Lisa Fiedler is the BOMB! This review is late in coming as I'm not a big yelper but I decided it was time to say what an amazing hairstylist she is! I have been going to her for about 3 years. I am very picky about my hair and have strong opinions about it, but Lisa always manages to do EXACTLY what I envision every time--both cut and color! She recently said to me that she was up late the night before thinking about the color she was going to use for for my appointment the next day. How great is that? She thinks about my hair in her off time! This is just one example of her conscientiousness and caring. She also always offers for you to come back anytime/drop in if for any reason your hair needs a little tweeking. She is also a ton of fun too! I have naturally curly hair and I can vouch for the many years of torture that stylists have done to my hair.... that is until now! I went to Dagaz Salon in Mill Valley and sat in the chair of Alicia Love.... I was nervous at first because no on up to this point has ever cut or colored my hair correctly. UNTIL NOW! Alicia not only gave me the most fabulous color, so much so that everyone thinks it's natural! (shhhhh, I am telling people it is!) BUT, she cut it perfectly! I love my hair! Celia is amazing. I had a cut and color Friday and looked and felt beautiful. Normally you find a stylist that is good at color but not cut, or the opposite, but Celia is truly all in one! I've never received more compliments on my hair than this past year. I'm a tricky customer because I can experience color allergies. We had to do grey-blending for a while and it was beautiful. She is truly an artist with hair color. Recently I've been able to do all over color again with highlights. They are consistently gorgeous. I used to feel a little nervous in the salon chair. I'm a hairy guy. The best haircut I've ever had done in my life was from Lisa Fiedler at Dagaz Salon. I have very fine hair, and also a full beard. Lisa always trims my beard so precisely and evenly that I receive compliments from other teachers and even my students. When my wife trims my beard, I look like I took a ride through a meat grinder. When my wife trims my hair, it looks like I have horizontal stripes and I resemble a zebra. When Lisa cuts my hair and trims my beard, I look better and feel better. I'm really more of a 'barber shop' or "let the wife do it" kind of guy, but judging from the compliments I receive after Lisa's work, I can see I really needed an upgrade. read more

I have been wanting that extra something special in a haircut for a while now, and while I've gotten close, no one's quite nailed it yet. I kept seeing Alicia do great work with my friends' hair, so I thought I'd give her a try. LOVE IT! I haven't been this happy with my hair in years. She knew exactly what I wanted with very little description on my end. While I love doing it up to go out, I can't spend much time on it in in the mornings, and she gave me a cut that looks fantastic even if I run out of the house with it still wet. I had a horrible experience with Alicia at Dagaz, after paying her $100 for a cut with tip. She 'feathered' my ends, and I left with a frizzy cut. When I called back and asked if she could correct it, I was told that she would have to cut and inch off my layers, so I asked if I could wait until it grew out a little. She said sure, for another $80. The worst part is, this was the second time she did it, and I did pay $80 for the correction the first time. I can't believe I didn't catch it again, and of course, she did not keep a card on file for what worked and what didn't work with her customers. I will never frequent this salon again. read more

I have been going to see Rachel Parker at Dagaz for about 3 years now and my hair has never looked better. After years of box coloring, my hair was a brassy orange mess. Rachel has brought my dirty blonde hair back to life flawlessly. She is master at coloring, balayage, highlighting, cutting and styling. And she will always be honest if a photo I've brought in for inspirartion isn't right for me and she knows exactly how long I can go between appointments so that my roots are never bad. Hairstylist Alisha rocks...you should go to her for the best hair cut ever. I bring in a photo every single time and say "this is what I want" and she does it perfectly. I went as short as the short Halle Berry style, to now mid length. Her cuts look awesome, men and women notice, and comment, and they grow out well. She is really a unique and amazing stylist. The salon offers a ton of easy parking, and has 3 or so parking spots in an adjacent lot. The salon is friendly, Alisha runs on time, and is a doll personality wise. I strongly suggest stopping in, I will never try anyone else...ever. read more

Rachel is a phenomenal colorist - best in class! I have dark hair with lots of grey - but like my hair to be blonde. She is exceptional in her initial assessment and takes the time to get to know your vision. Every time I leave the salon - i am super happy with the results... lots of definition in the highlights. In experiences with previous colorists, they had a hard time with my hair because it can easily turn brassy. Not Rachel. She did an exceptional job every time. I love Dagaz Salon! They are simply the best! The receptionist is always friendly and accomodating, and Alicia never fails to impress me with a cut and color. Before Dagaz I tried another salon in Mill Valley ( which shall remain nameless) and was completely unimpressed. Incredible find in the lovely town of Mill Valley! Very friendly staff, offered drinks right away, and made me feel very comfortable. Lisa is my stylist, creative, just seems to "know" hair, easy to talk to, listened to exactly what I wanted and has loads of experience. My color and cut look better now than it ever has! Celia Ostria Castellanos is by far the best hair stylist I have ever gone to. I have never left a salon completely happy with hair or color. Dagaz is an amazing hair experience! I'm confidant that you can't get a bad haircut or color there. However, Lisa has been doing my hair since she lived in the Midwest. I have followed her across the country, flying in several times a year to get her artistic hands on my mess of curls. She manages to give a cut that turns heads--something I've never received from another stylist. She's well worth my expense and time to travel to have her do my hair.
