THIS SALON IS THE BEST - do not look any further. "Hair by TIN THI" is hair that you will love more and more each day that passes, like I do. Went to this place 3 days ago for something different because I just didn't know what to do with my awful haircut by my DEFINITELY EX-favorite hair stylist in Mill Valley (will never go back there again!). TIN THI (love love love this guy!!!) took one long look at my hair mess, was professional enough NOT to critique my ex-salonist's awful work but instead reassured me that he will fix it, patiently maneuvered my self-absorbed choice of wrong hair color to what is right for my skin tone and ethnicity, and entertained me with his reflections and memories of life in the different places that he lived. When he was done with everything, I couldn't believe how great my hair looked from all angles. My hair looks waaaaay better than the photos because there was direct sunlight going through the windows at the time the photos were taken. I wish it captured how the new color softened my facial features, the balanced cut made me look so fresh and smart, and for the first time in a long time - I felt BEAUTIFUL again. And my hair looks better everyday since! TIN THI IS MY NEW ANGEL, and I will share him with anyone who wants to try a different and more masterful, mindful and caring salon experience. I found this salon back in April 2022. I needed a great hair stylist for a new look. I was not disappointed in the stylist I chose. Jeanette has limited hours but she does a wonderful job on my hair. She listens and asks me questions about what I want. I've had 3 hair appointments and each time my style is refined and I go out feeling well taken care of. There is plenty of parking and there is a perk to the local. There is a famous Bundt cake store 2 doors down. So I get a treat as well. Her prices are very reasonable especially for the area she works in. I get have gotten my moneys worth. I work in the public eye and I get compliments on my hair almost every day. No joke! read more

Jeanettes done my hair and my sons. Even my 21 year old daughters long locks have been trimmed and styled by Jeanette regularly; and thats after going thru several other stylists. I can't speak for the salon as a whole, though everyone seemed nice.... I first met Trudy through a mutual friend and she did my hair for my wedding day. Then we lost touch for a while - happily I found her! If you are looking for a "hair makeover" go see Trudy! She also can be found at the Salon in the Claremont Hotel & Spa. Barbara Bronson is a fabulous hair dresser, she has been doing my hair for 45 years, I have had many different styles over the years and have been up to date and great. Every where I go somebody will ask who does my hair, that's a good hairdresser. She ha s done my daughter 's special occasions such as Proms and weddings. Now she cuts my grandsons hair, he loves her and wouldn't let anybody else cut his hair. Barbara is a NIGHTMARE! AVOID HER! Her haircut consisted of having me flip my hair over (I have long hair), hold my hair in a pony tail, and CUTTING IT OFF! that was her idea of a hair cut. I'm reviewing the shop separate from my review of specific stylists. Altogether DHS fit me in for a same-day appointment even though they were obviously booked. A stylists stayed past closing to accommodate me. The salon is in a nice shopping center with easy parking. There's a great bookstore and cake shop nearby if you're waiting for your appointment or have someone with you that needs to wait it out. It was Cash Only when I went last time, but the clean salon and nice personnel more than make up for that. read more

FIrst of all, it smells really bad, like wet dog. I had Barbara and she left me three times (with my hair all over the place) to go work on someone else! i told i just wanted 1/2 and inch off, as little as possible, but she argued with me and said it wouldn't look good unless i cut 2 inches but i got her to only take off one. then she put my head under a dryer (so much for a cut and blow dry) and then straigtened my hair quickly, which i specifically asked her not to do since i do it all the time and i dont want to damage my hair even more! Kim understood my hair type and managed it easily and beautifully. She is my go to person for all hair needs. Jeanette has been cutting my mother's and my hair for over ten years now (since I was about 9 years old). We followed her from a different salon to Altogether Different. I cannot speak for the other stylists (they all seem nice), but Jeanette is incredible. I have had many different hair cuts over the years, shorter pixie-ish cuts, to dramatic angled-bobs, to long and layered, to blunt bangs. My mother and I usually follow the rule, "Jeanette, do whatever you think will look good!" I have had so many complements on my hair over the years. I always come home to get my hair cut and Jeanette is such an excellent stylist that her hairstyles "grow out" very well if you need to go a while in between cuts, like I do. read more

Great with our two kids, does an excellent job with my wife's hair (she told me specifically to write about how awesome she handles the hair dryer like noneother!) and for me, I couldn't ask for more - a professional business cut without making me feel "corporate" when I'm out with the guys or at social events.
