They have a 2 for $6 menus they won't honor the price even when you order 4 things off the menu. Then they want to charge you 60 cents each for fry sauce. The wouldn't refund the money I was over charged either. Don't go there the food wasn't great. read more

The customer service is atrocious. And I mean the older people- the younger kids are the sweetest I've ever seen! The older employees have shoved my food at me, if I tip them they say "waste of money" or "whatever". I am constantly scowled at my them and on several occasions ended with cold food. I've mostly only ever stopped here for Blizzards after a trip to the Caves, Coast or Redwoods. My family and I have always had a great experience there and enjoyed our ice creams and the atmosphere of the rural location of this Dairy Queen. It's quaint and personable, the remodeling helped with the refresher the establishment needed. It wasn't ever super dirty, just growing old. My husband and I just recently moved close to Cave Junction and until we could get our fridge, stove and BBQ moved in, we ended up sampling a lot of the local eateries. This Dairy Queen was a good pick for quick snacks on our many trips we had to make through. We also tried their staple chicken basket at one point and then their burgers. Part of the reason I give this restaurant such a high review is based on comparison to the ones in Grants Pass. I'm sorry, GP, but the Dairy Queens there have given me more bad experiences than naught. Uncooked fries, unsalted fries (a lot), janky chicken strips, overcooked burgers, impatient service, careless service, meh soda. Also, the toast is usually just warm bread and it'd be a surprise if there's more than a spit of butter on it. The Cave Junction DQ, however, has fries that are perfectly golden with just the right amount of crisp, not all ends and perfectly salted. Burgers cooked just right, without any burn, though condiments were more in keeping with Carl's Jr's messy style, haha. They got our special requests just right as well, while the other locations commonly just ignore or misunderstand. They give you four full chicken strips, no weird nugget things, and their toast is ACTUALLY toasted and has butter on it. Their cheese curds (seriously, try these some time, I was impressed. Go for the small, between two people it's filling!) were about the only thing I had a complaint on, and that is that they were a little too overcooked. Also, when we ordered the chicken we were impressed that it didn't taste like fish, as someone had just ordered a crispy fish so the whole restaurant smelled like it. We were concerned they would use the same oil, as has happened to us even at sit down restaurants. While we don't do fast food too often, I could see us paying visits to this DQ for treats a bit more. We were extremely surprised by how good it turned out, thinking that the "big city" DQs would have better service. The staff at the CJ DQ is friendly and seem to have a really good rapport with each other, which I think that positivity really helps with their work ethic. Admittedly I have not recently tried their ice creams or sodas (we usually get our own drinks, partly because we like tea and also because fountain drinks at fast food places are very pricey and usually are off on mix ratio). But I don't see a reason to withhold a star for that. I am sure that, since we now live closer, we'll end up trying those things eventually. Thanks for reading this ramble! Today. This picture of my (garden greens salad) "Crispy"...... I received grilled chicken on top witch doesn't surprise me for the intelelgents of the works. The place was disgusting! Flies were everywhere, we were having to swat them away as we were ordering and thought...they should do something about this. Then we sat in the dining room... they were crawling on the walls, windows and tables! It is obviously an ongoing problem as they have fly glue strips and bug zappers all over the dining room. If you sit in the dining room you get your choice of which ones to sit under. We ended up leaving and tossing our food because it was so bad. Ok so I usually don't review fast food because it's quite laughable and I rarely eat it but this is probably the cleanest fast food place I've ever stepped foot in. Most people don't go to fast food places for gourmet food or immaculate décor. It's about getting what you pay for and expect at a reasonable price in an appropriate amount of time. There was a news article a couple days ago about how McDonald's and other fast food companies are having a hard time keeping customer service levels high. Higher food and labor costs as well as employee turnover are squeezing profit margins. This particular Dairy Queen was okay but our server could definite use more customer service training. She may know her menu backwards and forwards and even inside out. Where we live, there are no Dairy Queens and we haven't been to one in at least five years. And being on a road trip, our brains are in slo-mo mode. We ordered a banana split and a sundae. "What size?" I didn't know that banana split came in sizes. "Not the banana split. The sundae. What size sundae do you want?" Big deal? No, not really. But the issue could have been resolved simply with "What size sundae would you like today?" as the first question. Our order was served to us at the table reasonably quickly but we had to get up and get our own napkins. Our server did tell us to have a nice day after we were finished eating and were exiting. A smile and better eye contact with your customers will make your day go smoother. read more

Flies.. Flies everywhere.. probably thousands on the counter.. food prep area.. waiting area.. very happy I went in and saw this and didn't just go through the drive through. I was able to walk out before ordering. It was kind of amazing. Everyone in there acted as if that was completely normal.. they are hatching somewhere in the food so that shows how clean the place is.. also heard the kid working counter ask someone in line to fill a cup up with ice for him to give to the drive through since the machine behind the counter is broken.. I feel for the workers, the owner needs to have a cleaning crew come in and really train these kids read more

When you're in a small town and maybe can't put a finger on the pulse of the restaurants around you, you get a free pass to go for what's predictable and familiar (read: "fast food"). So says me. It's hard to go wrong with Blizzards. The one I had here was pretty much the Blizzard I wanted. So far so good. The place was as glacially slow as every DQ that has ever existed, so no surprises there, and for some reason that day they were only able to accept cash. Whatever. With all the time they had, I figured the other items would be pretty hard to mess up, too. Chicken strips, fries, iced tea. It's worth the wait to know your items will be hot out the fryer. I was so wrong. My chicken strip basket seems to have been sitting out for a while. I'm gonna guess like a couple of days? I bit into each strip, hopes held high each time, but after feeling the texture and temperature, I couldn't handle the chewing and swallowing so essential to completing the eating ritual, and ended up throwing the whole thing into the nearest trash bin. At least I had iced tea to wash it down with, right? Wrong again. I took a big sip and spit it right back out. They'd evidently substituted one key ingredient (ice) for another: soap. I opened up the lid, and sure enough, a soapy film rested on top of the tea. Dumped that one out, too. Blizzards, though. I can't quit 'em. Sure, in the end it was an eight-dollar Blizzard, but the guy even turned it upside down like they do in the commercials, and even if the pecans were maybe like 25% shell, that one extra star just goes to show how strong the love of ice cream can be. read more

Burgers taste like they were microwaved and it looks really dirty inside. I gave a star because a blizzard in the summer is hard to mess up. You can really tell that none of the kids working in there and who knows what my be in the food! This place is a life saver. Where else are you going to get a delicious treat late at night or anytime during the day around here. You know what you're going to get from DQ. I've never gotten anything other than dessert from here. It's DQ, you get ice cream! If you want to dine in and eat a burger, go across the street! I do not review Dairy Queens usually. However, the poor management at this particular location was of a spectacular note. They got the order of the people in front of me incorrect. They got my order incorrect. When I pointed out that I had purchased a large caramel sundae and they had brought me a large caramel shake, they insisted they had brought me a sundae. Took a few stupefied seconds before they brought me a small sundae in a large cup in retribution for pointing out the mistake. Gave up the fight. 1st time going inside.......at one point i had at least 15 flys land on me at once. Tables and walls are covered in flys. The lady taking the orders got everyones order wrong. this is the 3rd stop we've made at a dq (each one a different location) in 3 days! and we're not fast food junkies, honest! this was our first visit to the cave junction location and we were very pleased. the 5-buck lunch cheese burgers were as expected, good. the fries were hot and tasty. what surprised us was the friendliness and cheerfulness we found at the order counter. i had a question about the sundae coupon, and not only one but 4 of the people behind the counter came over to help answer and make sure i was good with the answer. wow. we go through cave junction every time we go to medford from the coast and return, and this was a great experience. read more
