I met the rudest cashier I've ever encountered at a Dairy Queen ordering food for my family here. She was short and angry in each of her responses. She couldn't be redirected to be more respectful even when I went out of my way to be polite, despite her rudeness. She would not return a smile. Here's the thing: people don't expect awesome food from this place. They expect simple treats with consistency, and a positive family-oriented experience. Being treated rudely in front of your family as a paying customer for no logical reason is the last thing you expect from DQ. The people working at the location near my home are extremely nice. All the other people I've met in this town are exceptionally polite. If I owned this location, I would be rushing to address this before it becomes the brand for my store. Maybe it already is. It was quiet - few other customers around, yet it was an inconvenience to the cashier. The person who actually made the food was fast, and it was as expected. The cashier, by contrast, almost made me drive away halfway through ordering. I would drive out of my way for similar food and treats before I came back to this location. I don't think I've ever had a negative experience at a DQ until today. Congratulations to this cashier, you won't need to deal with me again! If you are so bothered by customers, try a different type of job where they don't interact with you. read more

Today, Sunday, 7/21/2024 is "National Ice Cream Day". My brother and I went to Park Rapids to shop and to get some ice cream at this Park Rapids Dairy Queen, taking advantage of the app's offering of a Free Dilly Bar with a $1 or more purchase. When the app didn't allow me to checkout, I went in to ask the gentleman at the counter why the app didn't work. He said, "That happens when we don't honor the deal." You are telling me that on "NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY", the ONE PLACE YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK OF ICE CREAM DOESN'T HONOR ITS APP'S DEAL?! How cheap do you have to be be as owners to ignore the app's deals? These are not just oversights, people. The owners actively choose what deals they will honor and which ones they won't. I crossed this Dairy Queen off my list immediately. read more

Meh, not the fastest, best, or consistent. The blizzard I got was at first believed to be full of stuff but after skimming the top discovered the rest was just vanilla ice cream. Bummer. More like a sundae than a blizzard. read more

Stopped last night in Park Rapids for an ice cream cake for my & another person's birthday. 3 cabins in a row with someone having a Wednesday birthday. What are the odds? "Met" what may well be the saddest counterman in Minnesota! He didn't smile and he had nothing to say! Whoever this 30ish guy is he isn't doing the business any favors with his sad face! I completely understand long wait time from worker shortage. I keep a smile and reassure workers I understand. Tonight we arrived at a particularly busy time, the wait was not the issue. The issue was the girl that appeared to be the supervisor from the way she talked down to the other employees. She never smiled, slammed things around, treated employees horribly. When one employee told her our order was to go she threw our food into a bag and slammed it on the counter in front of us. We reminded her of our cones. There is now a problem with the ice cream machine and one employee offered a substitute or refund and she got hateful with him. We now waited another 10 minutes or more while she fixed the machine. She made me never want to return because of her attitude. I love DQ but if she's there when I return I'll leave and go somewhere else. read more

I am amazed by just how consistently awful this particular DQ is. The crew obviously hates working here and it shows in their attitudes toward their customers. I wish I didn't love their blizzards so much, because no matter how poorly they treat me here, I don't have many other options. I wholeheartedly nominate this location to pilot the inevitable automation revolution. I would at least be mildly amused when a robot rolled its eyes at me and begrudgingly took my order. Chocolate ice cream machine down for cleaning during the evening rush. Shouldn't this be done outside of business hours? On a previous visit, they shut off the dining room lights 30 minutes before close while we were seated and eating. I did not see the stack of rugs separating me from the exit. However, they most certainly saw me and made a clean open field tackle. Ok I tripped on them. But, in my defense, the lights were off. At any rate, I'll see you again DQ on my next visit to Minnesota. Sigh. read more

I'm surprised by all the bad reviews. We have had several good meals here for years. Food is always hot and fresh. They have lots of kids on summer jobs and I remember those days. So give them kindness and understanding. We usually get the 7 dollar meals and upgrade to the blizzards. No place else has chicken strips with a white chicken gravy! Get a second gravy and enjoy some gravy fries! DQ Brazzers are a step up from a McDonalds or Burger King. It's worth a few extra min and a few extra dollars for good fresh made to order meals. read more

I wasn't impressed. DQ is a favorite stop in our travels since they are generally pretty consistent, clean and better food than our other options. This place wasn't all that clean, they actually seemed annoyed at having kids in there and one old lady clearly travelling through asked an employee what road to take out of town to get where she was going. She was essentially ignored... I felt so bad I looked it up on my phone and told her (I'm not from here either, but figured I'd try to help). I won't rate lower than 3 stars, they don't deserve that, but they don't deserve more either. read more

This is a very nice DQ! Everyone that works there is very pleasant. The food is always hot & fresh. They star open all year 'round which is great in this small community where many businesses close for the winter. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they could keep up on wiping off their tables more often. More than once I've grabbed napkins to wipe crumbs off my selected table before sitting down to eat. read more
